Nice one👌 jf was humming away👌
She done well 👌😊
great camara work along with driving a harvester and bucking up, very well done thank you
No problem Kieran 😊👍
Hi Gerry,
Brilliant video as always really enjoyed it and so glad everything went well for you. Got all mine baled today Monday and was also surprised by the bale count as it was much better than I expected. 15 bales back on the same ground from last year. But in great form like your own. "A wet and windy May fills the barn with corn and hay" (which we did not get or April either) old saying and a very true one in the wild west anyway. Look forward to the next video.🐄💧
Great to get it done Thomas.... yes we had a windy May but no wet.... could be a bad sign 😅😅
Ah Gerry you told me in a message there is nothing you can't drive. 5 feet and you blocked the harvester. 😀😀😀😀 Good man. Happens to the best of operaters. Drew silage with a 6430 premium years ago. Great tractor for the job.
Just coz I said I can drive it dosnt mean I’m any good at driving it 😂😂 6430 a lovley machine alright. 👍👌
Thanks again. Great video. Not gonna lie, I was getting nervous when you came towards the go pro with the buckrake!!! Thanks for taking the time to stop and move the camera. I know its a pain, but it sure adds to the quality for the video. Thanks also for not losing it over all the guys telling you which side to fill the trailer on!!! Stay safe.
Im used to the conversation on which is the best side to Fill at the stage that happens every year😂 thanks for the feed back 👌👍👍
Great video and silage time for you young man!
Great video pit looks great😁now we need rain
Neat job as always up there! Fair play. An uneventful day is a very good day with machinery! Slightly scary re fire risk there.
Yes I love uneventful days 😊👍
Machinery is looking immaculate credit to you 👍
Lovely rain here today at last.fertiliser on silage fields today.🌧🏴👍
Great video as always gerry! Nice that we're getting the good weather at the minute
Like a bit of a rain all the same
Brilliant video harvester doing great job
Anuther great video Gerry proper way to lift grass 💯
Great pit work👌looks like it will be great stuff. Top notch channel👍
Good video.sheep still on our bare silage fields.rain please June and July 🌧🏴👍
We might get rain this week. 🙏 hopefully
Great video. Fair play for keeping a load to the end, great content
Nice one Gerry. Got a noise the pick up of our 900 yesterday too. Just as it's turning over slowly.must be infectious 😂
It must be.... jf’s could be going into protest over the dry grass 😂
Take it dry anyday over wet. Was lifting 24 feet and singing up her
Alan Dennison no doubt it better dry.
Nice video Gerry. We used to run a JF1050 behind a 6520. That would be a perfect chopper for your 6930.👌💪 👍👍
Great picture quality
Great video Gerry ✅
I like ur videos man👍👍👍
Amazing silage lifting
Man, you guys across the pond sure do silage differently than in the states lol. Most of us run with the truck/wagon on the right side. Heck of a lot easier on the neck trying to watch the wagon with the seat turned that way.
Yes I seen it being done in the states.... a lot easier on the neck 😂
Not just in America, fill on the right in England as well, don't know why the Irish prefer this way
great days work done there Gerry keep up the good work. S C UK.
nice one gerry, glad it all went smoothly. although I bet you were worried when the jf jammed up right at the start!
I was ..... I thought ohh here we go 😂
in my day we had to unhook and fix it to the forager , seems a right "palava" now . still i miss them days lugging silage with a massey 590 4wd ..
Yes we use to do it that way until 2014. It worked
The JF performed like a dream. Thought it was going to clog a few times when it hit the heavier crop. Ever thought of using forage wagons? Or is it you get a better chop to the grass with a forager? 6420 sounds throaty for a wee one. Nice work.
Thought of a wagon alright.... be less labour needed. Maybe could be a future option. 64 is a little pocket rocket. 😊
Great outfit you have Gerry 👌👌
Awesome Vid Gerry! Like I said before dragged Chopper is great and the John Deere. Im liking Massey to but this is the second year we will have our New Hollands but want a 200hp or more!
Hi gerry glad the first cut went well its allways satisfying to have a full pit of well tramped grass plus a bonus if nothing went wrong . Hope ur all keeping well stay safe pls take care . All the best .
Thanks Ian
We are going to start mowing tomorrow
Hope it all goes well
Never get why the Irish load on that side! Youve got the reel over one shoulder and controls but then look all the way round to the trailer rather than it both being on the same side? Great vid Gerry cheers
How's the neck the next day?😆😆 (i'll stop one day...maybe 😂😊) that jf doesn't half tram on, im surprised a trialed one goes that we'll. Glad it's all in and down. Made a good job on the loadall as well with no leaks 👍👍
If you could only get a couple of people who have looked at this video to help with covering the pit, you’d be sorted. Good idea to include yourself on these videos,, I think it’s a great idea.
If we all threw one tire 😂
Surly if you opened the drawbar more the tractor tyre wouldn't be running on the crop?
Great video as always gerry
Very gud in front of the camera. Nice machinery and what r ur tought on same and lamborghini tractors
edmond finucane
Same = junk
Some contractors round here have used same on their fleet and have done well. Like everything. If u look after them they’ll do ok for ya
Hey gerry, I must agree with you on the backwards, I can't for the life of me understand who came up with the idea on trailers on the left side 😄 have seen it tho on other Irish channels.
You don’t know how to cut grass if you fill to the right 😂
Is just out thing.... we’re to stubborn to change.... 😂
@@gerry6420 do you turn your head 240 degrees like an owl or do you do the ole flipparoo and make a swift 360 from watching the trailer to the chopper? 😄
Do you not find flicking the grass with the loader puts a lot of stress on the carriage? When I used to buckrake I used to use a push of one on the front found it much better job. As I wise man said to me when I first started on the pit look after the sides and the middle will look after it’s self. Great video love the jf900 so many memories of childhood
Yes it’s hard on the carriage. I’d like a push off rake but it’s hard to justify it as we just do our own. But I agree. It would be better. Yes the jf always brings back memories.
Amazing Gerry 👌👌👌
Good video Gerry 👍 thought when u were in a lighter swath the grass comin outa the forager was a bit on the dry side , hope u get some rain now get er started again 👍👍
Bob Paterson it was dry but has enough moisture to make. Should be quility
stuff
First time I spent a day filling with a jf900 on our ford 7810, let's just say my neck was locked in place for the following 3 days, I was walking around the house with my head at about 60° to the right 😂
Nice job Gerry. Silage looking good. How's the baby doing, hopefully sleeping all night. 🤔👍👍👍👍👍🇺🇸
Baby is good. Almost 7 months... teething away which is a pain but over all very good baby. Sleeps very well 🙏👍👌😊
Great video gerry
nice video good job
Great vid Gerry👍..that aul dry grass is hard to pack and roll on the pit..did ye ever think of buying an old self propelled to lift grass a bit faster or would you not have enough acres to warrant one?
Love the video lad you may buy a drone
He has one
I have one but it’s acting up on me not doing what it should. I mention your question in today’s video
Great vid . Very tidy outfit.
Great set up and the thing is you are self sufficient. Do you test for dry matter content and do you use additives?
Yes that’s it.... your independent and can go at it when you want. Yes we usually get the silage tested.
All the people commenting about filling from the left/right. It’s how it’s done in Ireland, North and South. It’s kind of a cultural thing.
True. I think the English way of doing would be easier
Gerry,
Great video and content. The JF900 is going and looking well. How old is the JF900 and did you buy it new?
Then jd Robert. No I bought it second hand. Have it since 2014. It’s a 2002 machine. It was well looked after even before I got it
Thanks Gerry keep up the great work.
Great Video Gerry been waiting for this one 🤙🏻🤙🏻
also I assume the2850 cant pull a trailer couldn't be at that with hay fever grass to dusty
Nice 1 gerry
what width buckrake you running on the telehandler, just look what the best size would be for the job.
I think it’s 9ft.... I’ll check
A mighty tractor but for some reason deeres seem to suffer from radiators catching more fine dust than other makes I think? Did alot of hay once upon a time with deeres 20 & 30 series and regularly had to blow them out during work, guy I worked with had a claas which never had that issue but was a piece of crap in every other way so wasn't much of a win 😂
What’s the name of that mellow tune you now keep playing Gerry? Makes for a great video
Why don't you fill the trailers on the opposite side.. I find it way easier
Any reason you didn't put more trailers on to keep you going? 🤔
We actually had three trailers drawing at one point but dad likes a little bit of time on the pit just keep it rolled
I'm from the U S and I was wondering why don't you plant any clover or alfalfa or other legume with your grass over there?
We do have clover.... our climate isn’t suited to alfalfa. Seen alfalfa over the in the USA and it made nice feed.
@@gerry6420 grew alfalfa (lucerne in Europe) in my farm a few years back in West Cork,it yielded very well and did well provided there's very dry gravel type soil. Made first cut bales, per acre had 12 at 56% dm and made terrific feed especially for young calves,no concentrate needed as protein was over 22%. But it limited land usage because to graze it's easily damaged especially after rain. Went to red clover, had it mixed with cocksfoot and it yielded extraordinarily heavy plus early spring growth and autumn too. My farm had a very dry nature, useless in a dry year. Horses for courses I guess. But you're right, it's climate dependant too, don't think lucerne would grow up West or Northolt from Cork on the periphery to East coast yes.
Why do you not draw with the 2850 ?
Not for a number of seasons.... she’s retired from drawing grass 😜
Nice vid 👌👍
That's what a massy is for no deer
Would it be easier to use a petrol blower to blower the cut grass of the machinery
I do sometimes. Have one
Geat videos lad did u find out out them T-shirt
Which T-shirt?
5xl
gerry6420 5xl
Doesn't look like it will be fun covering looking at the tree's whipping around.
Would it not be handier for Gerry if he filled from the other side his neck would fecked,,I don’t know just wonderin can any 1 tell me,,?
If you had trailers coming all the time, how many acres would you lift in a day?
We have the same outfit sept we have a 1050
Gerry,
Do you get any vibration from the wide angle PTO if you turn sharply? We appear to have some and was wondering if its normal.
Yes you get a bit. Probably should lift off more when turning. 😁
@@gerry6420 good to know thanks for the response.
Isn't it easier to fill the trailers up on the right side rather than the left with a trailer chopper
Not on that trailer as the Silage sides are on the opposite way
We’re Irish.... we like to do things backwards 😂
gerry6420 we do it the right way Gerry 😂🇮🇪🇮🇪
Even if us Irish men are wrong we are still right for sure
@@gerry6420 left is right for sure
What's the reason for the 69 on the jf. Would it not be faster to have the 6930 pulling the trailer
More grunt for it, 100hp would get bogged down a lot more than 170hp when it's an 18ft swath
get a 14 tonner for the wee David brown she roll down a hill fine I rekon
Her tongue will be out that’s for sure
I was mowing for hay today , and tips turning it , should I turn it the same day or wait for the next day ?
Irish Farming with the weather we’ve now wait till tomorrow
Why don’t you altered your trailers and fill from outside its easier
This is just how we do it over this side. I think it might be easier ur way but we like to make things hard for ourselves 😂
How do you find the JF 900
Not a self propelled but they are good yokes for a farmer wanting to lift his own grass when it suits him
Gerry what app do you use for editing and what pc do you use
Edit on my iPhone/iPad..... iMovie app. Don’t use a pc. Use GoPro’s and the go pro app to take movie from the gopro to the iPhone library. Pretty easy
gerry6420 do you have a problem uploading how long does it take
Silage2k20
U need to get a drone 😂
