      Evon Esparza No problem! I am so glad I could help. I really like my non stick matt. I always use it. I don't use it to place my fondant on my cake every time, but it is a handy trick to know!

    Thanks for the tops -- I need them! I'm covering my son's rectangular birthday cake later today. Eight thin layers of almond sponge with raspberry jam and crème diplomat fillings alternating between layers, with the layers soaked with a Chambord syrup. I really don't want to mess this up!

      How did it go?

    • @adamchurvis1
      @adamchurvis1 3 года назад +1

      @@EdikeOCGift Somewhere between "Meh" and "Well, THAT happened..." My main takeaway from this was that, in future, I need to assemble entremets in molds, freeze them, and then frost or glaze them. Without the mold I had to resort to two long skewers vertically through the cake at thirds along its length. Not ideal at all. Delicious, though.

      @@adamchurvis1 woah,sorry about that. I’m sure your son loved it anyways.

    How thick do you roll your fondant? I seem to always have crack and tears in mine. Just can't get it the correct thickness, I guess. Not sure what the problem is. I have one of those sheets too, they are awesome!!

    • @TheIcingArtist
      @TheIcingArtist  9 лет назад

      +Donitta Fields Hi Donitta, I hate when that happens! I would try not to use as much icing sugar when rolling it out. Roll out your fondant till it is about 1/8" thick. Work VERY quickly. As the fondant it rolled out it begins to dry very quickly, that will cause a lot of the cracks. I hope this was helpful, please let me know if you have any more questions :)

    how do you keep the buttercream from sticking to fondant smoother? Is it cold or frozen 1st?

    • @TheIcingArtist
      @TheIcingArtist  8 лет назад +1

      +Lala LaRue the cake was cold from the freezer, use a little icing sugar on your smoother to stop it from sticking.

    Hey. Thanks for your video. I went to your site to see your icing filling recipe. I read that it dries rock hard. Is this the icing we want under our fondant? I didn't know we wanted rock hard icing. Thanks.

    • @TheIcingArtist
      @TheIcingArtist  9 лет назад

      Alexandra Salerno hi there, no you dont want the icing that dries rock hard. Royal icing dries rock hard. Buttercream icing slightly crusts but stays nice and soft. you want to use buttercream icing.
