- Dragon Ball Super Manga Chapter 86 and 85 reveal a NEW version of Ultra Instinct: Goku's True Ultra Instinct Transformation and today we look at the info from the official Dragon Ball web site. We saw True Ultra Instinct Goku vs Gas and make sense of it here.

The whole appeal of Ultra Instinct for me was that the user could avoid any attack and strike their opponent with the highest efficiency possible, but realistically, it will just become another power up that will become obsolete when the next all-powerful villain shows up. 😅

Always. I've said for years that the forms need to specialize instead of just being power ups. Or I hope the series hits a power ceiling so transformations are obsolete. Anyways, I'd like the forms to do the following:
SSG: Healing and other divine mysticism.
SSB: Absolutely Perfect Ki Control. Makes most weaker forms obsolete.
UI: Defense/Dodging, mental clarity.
UE: Converts damage to power
SSJ: Weakest Yet Most Balanced with no wasted energy (Mastered SSJ).
SSJ2: Double the power of SSJ but also emphasizes speed. Combine with SSB for SSB2 a form emphasizing Super Speed.
SSJ3: 4 times the power of SSJ2 but emphasizes raw power instead of speed (like a more effective version of SSJ Grade 3)

Exactly. They've actually ruined the form. Like he has UI in base, UI in all his super saiyan forms, UI omen, mastered UI. And then I'm this arc he went back and forth using different forms. At one time its a technique at others its a transformation, and being calm was meant to be the whole point and now using his emotions makes him stronger just making it so convoluted for no reason.
Edit: It's a rhetorical question. I know that it is both a technique and a transformation I am pointing out that it is convoluted this way. Stop replying telling me its both. I know.
It was overpowered. Now they are trying everything to underpower it. What they should’ve done, is this is the first time goku went back into mui since the tournament. That would’ve been a much better build up. Maybe he beat Moro without ever entering the mastered state. But instead He managed to defeat him in omen/ spirit control

Vegeta: "I realized that I can't think about destruction at all and that I just want to protect myself so I thought as much as I can about protecting myself and avoiding destroying anything while in Ultra Ego and now I've got all the advantages of Ultra Ego and none of its weaknesses."
Beerus: "Is it too late to request a transfer to a different manga now?"
This actually makes sense in terms of dragon ball super’s logic. I won’t be surprised if they do something similar like this

Right, I believe vegeta will go down the same path as goku when it comes to emotions. Vegeta emotions to protect the ones he lives will increase his willingness to destroy and therefore find a new UE form.
Why is info like this so often revealed in interviews and articles these days instead of in the actual manga/anime/movies? It's so weird.

@@chilubapage1272 alot of people who read DBS dont actually read the chapter at all, they just look at the pictures i guess, Goku's always changed Physically when using UI while Beerus and the Angel's dont, Whis also clearly states that Goku's using UI as a transformation because he's a saiyan and his body is used to transforming to acquire new levels of power.

I think that's a cool idea but it was poorly executed IMO, Whis foreshadowing a Goku's version of UI made sense and having Goku to show his personallity while in UI is necessary, but why did it need to look so much like UI Omen? Toyotaro could've made his hair spiker like a SSJ while being black and with the silver eyes, that would show that he is using his emotions instead of being calm while making it look unique.

@@anthonychase6906 He doesn't stay in Omen. This is separate of Omen entirely. This just applies the principles of Complete UI whilist keeping his nature intact. Resulting in Gokus true UI.

His hair and aura could've looked like they intended for Mastered UI to look before they changed it to the silver hair. His hair was spiky and he had that red aura around him
We will definitely get new information on "True UI" as we get to the V Jump interview in August (4th?). I mentioned my theories on this a few streams back, but basically this is Goku using Ultra Instinct but not emulating the angelic mindset(Omen and Silver) this is my "branch theory" where in order for Goku to get better with UI as Whis stated back in 68-70. He has to stop copying the angelic way(calm and no emotional disposition.) This means that by embracing the gift of Bardocks Saiyan instincts , and Goku following the Saiyan nature he is rooted in. He can actually use Ultra Instinct to his true degree. This borrows from Eastern Philosophy and especially Buddhism with the knowledge of the true self.
So, basically. He adapts the might of Completed UI with his Saiyan roots, making him look akin to Omen but also wielding the powers of completed UI with his Saiyan self. Love it, tbh. Also makes his evolution in UI different and also makes him more linked to his EoZ self.

Yeah because emotions is a key factor to Goku's fighting style him being excited with the thrill of the fight motivats him to keep fighting, adapts to his opponents attacks making him stronger and push passed his limitations.

I don't understand. Ultra instinct is supposed to be a state of mind where the body acts on its own, INSTINCTIVELY, ya know. Emotions and thoughts are what keep Goku slower. Now are you telling me that adding emotions is somehow gonna make ultra instinct better? Isn't it supposed to be otherwise?

It's just another sayian transformation at this point. They have to keep the power creep going somehow and it seems they haven't been able to figure out how to mantain UI's properties while making the next bad guy a big enough threat.

They've ruined UI by changing the instinct to move instinctively to avoid danger and never be caught off-guard with a perfectly tranquil and calm mind and perfect movement into just another SSJ Form, Goku's still moving instinctively but his fighting style doesn't look anything like UI anymore, im convinced that Toyotaro just made this whole thing as an excuse to not have to put in the effort to perfectly illustrate Goku's "Godly UI Fighting Style" which looked amazing, So UI will just become regular Goku with a new hair colour.

I think people are confusing this UI form being more powerful than MUI. MUI is the perfect form of UI that gets the most out of the user’s current ability. It requires a certain mindset and is catered to an Angel’s state of being. Goku is a saiyan and in turn can grow in power through emotion, zenkais, etc. Angels cannot do that. For Goku to take advantage of his Saiyan biology, he has to be in UI omen. MUI isn’t catered towards exploiting those saiyan abilities that grow power, instead it just maximizes CURRENT power. UI omen allows some degree of unconscious body movement/power, but also allows Goku to tap into his saiyan instincts that allow him to grow as he fights. He might not be as efficient, but saiyans don’t thrive on efficiency. In actuality Vegeta’s Ultra Ego is in perfect tune with a Saiyan’s instinct. The form requires emotion, damage, all of which go in tandem with a Saiyan’s biology. Vegeta understood that MUI is opposite of Saiyan nature, hence he dismissed his pursuit of the technique. Goku has to create a new technique. The body fights on its own while the saiyan mind is fueling its power further.
Not a bad theory. It would be pretty interesting if this is explanation turns out to be the case. We will see.

We had a whole arc where Meerus was teaching Goku to rid himself of emotions to master UI, now Goku has stronger UI because he’s using emotion???? The whole point of UI was that you can’t use it with emotion because then you’re thinking and your body won’t instinctively move on it’s own!

I feel as though DBS has backed themselves in a corner with MUI for being an overpowered form. Now they have to come up with different variants of UI such as omen, and now this...true ultra instinct!? Really!? Did MUI just get a backseat to this now? What does that mean for MUI then? I am just at a lost for all these transformations and back peddling. Super Sayian God would have been more interesting to explore. Best aura transformation in my opinion.

I think the implication is that when he dodges an attack he “activates” his emotions for a split second to launch a counter attack which I guess means it’s a stronger attack

I did notice a design difference with this version. Typically they draw Omen so that Goku’s hair looks shiny. This version his hair is normal flat-black but he has the (assumed) silver eyes.
There were a few panels where he did have those hilights that Omen usually has so it's kinda confusing to be honest. It might be more clear once this part of the Manga gets the official color treatment.
Another difference is that, when Goku isn't powering up, his hair remains the same as it is in his base-form. It isn't spiking up like it was in UIO.
This might seem convoluted but this is how I interpret it.
The silver hair MUI WAS goku mastering ultra Instinct, but only the power side of it. He figured out how to gain its power, but the mental side wasn't fully complete, which is why Whis said that Goku a till had a ways to go.
This new version is him figuring out how to combine the power with his unchanged mental state so he can master it without losing a part of himself to do it
It's hard to explain this transformation at this point in a black and white format! They've run out of shadings they need to completely alter the appearance at this point.

People gotta remember that MUI is a Fan Translation, there’s only Omen & Ultra Instinct. It’s not Mastered, it’s referred to as Complete sometimes but the name is Autonomous Ultra Instinct. Which means it’s not True, Mastered, Final, or anything else, Goku has had a latter sat in front of him since he went Silver. Also considering how Super Sayian God went? This makes even more sense imho

Silver haired UI is goku doing his best Angel impression, the new UI form is goku doing his best saiyan impression. Whis told goku in the beginning of this arc to save the silver haired form for when he really needs it. So from this I conclude that the silver haired UI probably has its own abilities separate (and better) from his True UI, but gokus True UI is better suited for him for general fighting. For instance, the “avatar” ability might be an “angel UI” exclusive, because it requires a calm mind. Evidence for this can be seen when goku wakes up from being unconscious, already in his silver haired form. Just my two cents. Good video

I think so, too. This felt very rushed. It seems like there is more to it, that they´re not telling us yet but it´s very unlikely that this was MUI at full power. It almost didn´t feel as if it was Goku willingly tapping into it. It almost felt more like as if it was sort of "given" to him, if you know what I mean.... Like, when I compare this to the TOP when he fought Jiren, that MUI was earned. He struggled hard for it and focused. Here, he basically just woke up. Like some sort of divine awakening... Idk what to make of it yet ...... 🤔🤷♂

Saiyans have always relied on their instincts and emotions so I find it perfectly fitting for Goku to have increase in power by combining UI and Saiyan prowess in battle. We have talked about this before in both Goku and Vegeta finding their own path and this is more progression in Goku's path of UI, MUI or TUI. I am sure the same will happen for Vegeta as he progresses cause I dont think he will ever adopt the mindset that Beerus has and be fully a destroyer. So, it makes sense to me that Vegeta will have UE, MUE and TUE eventually to match Goku. Their not Gods, their Saiyans and protectors at the same time with godlike powers
Totally confusing. Just like when they gave Super Saiyan grade 1 2 3 4, then full powerd. Too many categories. I can't wait until Goku achieves total enlightenment where he can access any of his power ups without transforming. At this rate he almost has all the colors of the rainbow 😂

That way we can get Ascended Ultra Instict(Grade 2), Ultra Ultra Instinct(Grade 3), Full Power Ultra Instinct(Grade 4), Ultra Instict 2 and 3 etc.

I just don’t like how much their playing footsies with Ultra instinct. Toyotaro has no idea what to do with it cause narratively giving Goku this form writes you into a corner. Then just let him have omen until your ready to give him the next level.
I know when the anime comes back their gonna scrap what the manga has done and go their own way. Which sounds infinitely better to me, since UI made more sense in the anime.

No I don’t think goku was using emotions against Moro. If you reread the Moro arc goku and Merus trained for goku to sustain omen compared to using power. Once goku starts to learn that he’s on the disadvantage, he starts to power up which is not the same as rage or using emotions. He is merely powering up as if he was doing what he did in the manga top against jiren
And he got beat hard. Then needed to control his emotions when Merus died to access the superior white haired ultra instinct he starts this arc with.
In the Moro arc he did show emotion when using Sign, but not on the same level as he did during this fight. With Moro he was still using Sign to imitate the angels, it was just a weaker and more uncompleted version of PUI
UI is just getting convoluted but in order to understand it better, i just take it as this form of UI is like “perfect UI sign” since it’s basically just Sign with saiyan instincts, making it UI’s “true form” for Goku specifically as he’s not trying to copy the angels anymore
PUI is still his most powerful transformation, it’s just now he’ll just resort to it when pushed into a corner and will probably use UI Sign more often since that fits him more
It’s literally a new form lmao look at the colored manga pages. UI sign Goku has silver eyes and the majestic UI aura, this new UI Goku with emotions has yellow eyes and that same sharp aura that bardock had when he fought gas

MUI might still be stronger form but True UI is his basic form which he can use at anytime. So I guess it MUI will play as the final card if there nothing left and True UI will be like ssb which he use it in every battle to he meet someone stronger enough to beat in which MUI will show up.
Tbh. I had hoped, that unlike Ultra Instinct manifesting Ki in the Shape of Gokuu's humanoid Form, that his Omen Form would manifest Ki in the Shape of his Oozaru Form. Would be neat Way to bring that back, without having to bring back Tails and such. Maybe after he re-"perfected" his own Version of it.
I rather the humanoid form but I don't know why it has no tail. It makes no sense. With the saiyan tail it would be perfect .

The aura in the manga is spikey. Normally UI Omen has a smooth aura right?
If this is the “True Ultra Instinct” for Goku, then Silver Haired Ultra Instinct is final form for Goku. It should only be used in situations like Moro and Jiren where the oppenent was basically unbeatable. For years, Ultra Instinct was so popular because it was treated like a rarity in Dragon Ball. Now, Goku can just use it whenever he wants basically making all previous transformations obsolete. Ultra Instinct needs to take a backseat in the Super story until Toyotaro and Toriyama figure out what exactly are they going to do with it.
i feel like with the introduction of true UI, i feel like a arc or 2 we'll see SSJ True Ultra instinct. Since he can use his emotions while in that form, itll allow him to utilize his saiyan forms unlike before.
I dont know how i feel about this actually happening, but this seems like the natural line of progression with forms.
Not sure if this will be like SSJB where its god and ssj combined and sorta makes its own thing, or if it will seem like UI ontop of normal SSJ
The fact that we got already 3 UI's is not good imo. It makes UI not special anymore even though it is a top tier technique. But i have to say that the Granolah arc was not good for me.

The silver hair is the calm perfected angelic form. While this black haired is the Goku specific rage boosted ui, which sometimes works better for Goku because he allways got stronger using his rage.

You know this is TRUE ULTRA INSTINCT SIGN right . When the silver haired form came back Gas couldn't break free and thrown like a ragdoll into space. It was Granolas arc he has to get the final blow . They will get to the black haired form being his permanent state and silver being the True MUI transformation with emotions so they can maintain Goku's character in battle vs being mentally checked out in current MUI.

They nerfed Goku down in the beginning of this arc because Mastered Ultra Instinct is too powerful a form. Once they introduced other properties of UI the form itself became irrelevant. Now Emotional Ultra Instinct is somehow stronger than Silver Haired Goku? The forms he used to take down Jiren and Moro?

I can't see this implying base goku with ui because wouldn't that mean it's not a transformation? I also don't like this being considered 'true' ui when silver hair was being called the perfected form. I don't like the continuous complications of forms.

They’ve called it “complete”, “autonomous”, or just plain “ui” but never “mastered”. Both whis and merus both said he hasn’t even come close to mastering it. Fans keep spreading misinformation. Even if it’s small. It has a huge effect on this community.

Also, at the very least, don’t bring up Merus, because he’s a good part of what my point is with Toyotaro and Ultra Instinct. He was written after the manga’s version of Tournament of Power Arc. Toyotaro most definitely has a hatred for Ultra Instinct, having been actively trying to make it useless and now he’s finally seeking to replace it. Trying to overwrite the prospect of Goku having mastered UI by making everyone who are experts on it instead say he didn’t was just the first step. And what Toyotaro began doing, starting either after Merus or simply later into the Moro Arc, was probably a second thought he had while he was making the story. I say that cause at first, it really seemed like Goku having not actually mastered UI simply or mostly had to do due with fact that he couldn’t yet activate it willingly without being beaten well enough beyond his limits. Hell, even Geekdom thought that was Goku truly mastering Ultra Instinct when he first activated it in the final battle, after Toyotaro made Goku go stupid when he initially wielded Omen.

@@ab020135 a bit of both man. i hear ya tho. been fan of this series since 90s. started in dbz then went back to watch original db with kid goku. that series was just as fun and entertaining. the fights were good. especially towards the end when goku grows up and fights in the last budokai before dbz. ya even in spite of not not having any crazy power ups like dbz. but i gotta say in dbz era it definitely became more about power ups post kaioken. all the super saiyans forms. but at that time it felt more natural and not over done or played out...
it was fresh and hype. :)
then when dbs came along it kinda got tedious with the recolored forms and all that. but i admit the god ki was interesting. i did like the UI stuff. but as with many fans with dbs getting fatigued with the constant transformations. these guys should have seriously saved MUI for the true end to the series. now its become fodderized and a joke...and they gotta make up shit to get outta corner the wrote themselves into. like this true UI now. its amusing. less hype. but still hype whenever its used. lolz. anyway. but this power up formula is nothing new to this franchise. sometimes its a beautiful thing like with gohan and piccolo now getting well deserved power ups as well. just my opinion tho.
I think I get it, in the new manga chapter if you pay attention goku in this new UI has silver eyes, but his hair when his aura isn't active is just base hair, no highlights like omen, this is him using UI full power in base, something whis hints at will be impossible till he learns his own UI, it truly has become something like kaioken where it's not a form but is, mostly it's him using his UI in base, atleast that's my theory, idk tho.
Lol idk why anyone finds ultra instinct confusing, but to anyone confused, I’ll make it simple!
There are two FORMS of ultra instinct: both have more pure divine ki, and because of that increase a races natural abilities, which is why gokus saiyan power actives so much faster than usual (the ability to get stronger mid fight and heal quicker, fun note, vegetas hakai energy also gives him faster than his normal god ki boosts, which is still a LOT more than normal ki)
Those two forms are omen, and complete.
Omen can use his emotions to increase his power but it’s unstable, complete ultra instinct requires clear mind and no emotion (so it ends up weaker than omen which allows to use emotion)
Then there are the techniques of ultra instinct, which is autonomous ultra instinct, it’s shown even roshi using a pseudo one becomes stronger, faster, and more durable when using it. The ability is able to become combined with previous forms, making them all leagues stronger, however they are All less of a boost than the actual ultra instinct omen and complete forms, which naturally uses it to the full capabilities.
It can't be THAT simple, if you are using Roshi (a character that by the end of OG Dragon Ball could be considered "fodder" in terms of power), to explain something, that only the most powerful beings in the multiverse can achieve.
It's shit writing, is the most obvious explanation, imo.

It’s always going to be a true true not really true UI, they need to stop and make it an unattainable feat. Or like Sora and the anti-form transformation…. No control, just happens randomly and helps Goku learn about himself as a saiyan, person and martial artist in ways he could never be taught by anyone. Give us some sweet combat in tandem with character development.
Okay, powering up a transformation with emotion is nothing new, but I'm a bit confused now. If you don't need emotional control to use this version of UI, then what was stopping Vegeta from using it this whole time? He has the ki control necessary to use Godly ki and you could straight up be infuriated and use UI just fine. So how does UI work in the manga? Can somebody drop some knowledge on me?

The whole point of UI was to let the body move and respond on its own to the attack, which was possible by clearing the minds of thoughts and emotions, and thats how he got to the silver haired form, so mixing emotions to the UI form would make it less effective as his body is not able to react on its own rather Goku is consciously doing it. That would mean that the true essence of UI is missing...
This is what happens when the creator of the series hands the reigns over to a fan-fiction writer
That’s the basis of UI correct, what you’re missing is Goku’s saiyan instinct is what holds him back using MUI to his full extent. Whis told him he needs to find his own way of UI due to him being a saiyan, hence why he’s using omen.

When I first saw chapter 85 when it came out on the 20th, at first I though that it was Ultra Instinct in Base Form.

Not sure what's the big deal. No one ever refers to SS as SS Grade 4, just SS. If anything, TRUE UI will just replace regular UI & maybe UI Omen as well. Expect it to be defined more next arc.
UI concept is now convoluted and silly but I always prefered the black hair omen aesthetic over another hair recolor like the silver. At least I can appreciate UI going black to the black haired UI

I don't think it's like a true ultra instinct more like a Saiyans version of the ultra instinct so maybe vegeta will be able to do something similar but he wants to do it his own way
Vegeta literally could’ve gotten ultra instinct by Akira’s or Toyotaro’s own logic. Goku literally did it in a way Vegeta would’ve essentially done it. Vegeta could’ve gotten this form while Goku could’ve kept MUI.

UI forms have become essentially like versions of the Apple products. Every arc there is going to be an upgraded version. This is essentially an example of the writers having written themselves into a corner. They gave Goku the "mastered" version of the UI in the TOP too soon. Now they are trying to figure out a way how a "Mastered" version of the form can be improved by being more mastered lol. Mastered UI squared. Then there will be a mastered UI cubed and so forth. I guess this isn't much different how there are different grades of the super sayian like the grade 2, grade 3, 4. Same concept.
I bet what comes next is ultra instinct with Kaioken.
