Bassist John Deacon wrote this song. He was a big fan of soul music. Predominantly black radio stations that usually play Disco, Funk, Soul, started playing this. They didnt know Queen was a rock band.Queen did dabble in Disco with this song
This song hit soul, disco, rock, a bunch of different charts. Deacon was also a financial guy who managed their money when they were getting ripped off and could have split up. He was an electrical engineer and invented an amp from an old radio that enabled Brian to get unique sounds.
It was funny to watch Freddie perform this concert. He started out with a Superman tank and white jeans. Then it was just jeans. And finally just the shorts. And bandana. Barefoot. There was no one like him. The most amazing front man ever. You couldn’t take your eyes off of him. I just saw this concert at an IMAX theater a couple of months ago. It was incredible. So sad that we lost him 💔 ❤
That's because he didn't want to two concerts being edited together, the group had just finished a tour and wasn't keen on doing these, purely because they were knackered, but the people filming kept getting in the way, security wouldn't let the audience do what you'd normally do at a concert, they wanted them just too stay seated and not move around, which didn't go down well with the group. There are videos with both Roger and Sir Brian narrating the concert and also they narrating some of their music videos
The company who were filming this concert told the band they had to wear the same clothes for the two concerts. Pretty obvious Freddie wasn't having a bar of that .I will wear want i want😂
I hear this and I’m immediately back at the skating rink in the early 80s. I had white skates with purple poms on the toes. We need to bring back the skating rink! 💜
The company doing the filming over two nights had asked the band to wear the same clothes on both nights for continuity. This outfit was Freddie's response to being told what to wear! 😂😂😂
It's the song which was almost left off the album let alone being released as a single, John wrote it and luckily Michael Jackson heard it and suggested putting it out, as he was a huge fan of Queen and recorded three songs with Freddie in the early 80's I think
I've got nothing helpful to add, so I'll just say, Love ya, Biz! I'm here for any Queen you want to do. (I may not rush for "Under Pressure" or "Fat Bottomed Girls", but I'll be here.)
Jagger, James Brown, Rod Stewart, Ronnie Van Zant all legendary front men but I don’t think anyone can touch Freddie!! He owns the stage, I know this, I wouldn’t want to follow Queen after what they and Freddie pulled of at this show! How do you top this!! You don’t! You pack your shit and go home!
John Deacon also wrote "Spread Your Wings" from their News of the World album. "Another One Bites The Dust" is funky, no doubt, but funkiest song ever? I dunno. I think James Brown would have something to say about that.
We did a Pom Pom/Cheerleader routine to this song when i was a kid one of my ALL time favorites!!! **Fantastical Memories** YAY Thank YOU ever so! *Luv** this reaction!!!
The bass line was totally stolen from the song "Good Times" by Chic. I think the bass player from that group ok'd Queen using it though. I saw a video about it awhile back.

Yup. Four Wheeling was the name of the roller rink in the 80's in my home town. Lots of great childhood memories.
By 1990 it was sadly shut down.
Oh, totally - those were the days!
What a fun song w/Freddie prancing around in his shorts ❤

@@joyceharkin3641 LOL - no complaints from me - hubbahubba!!
@@cindyfalstrom7231 Nor me!
Freddy’s shorts were so tight I can see all of his thoughts and prayers

Freddie is the very definition of sex appeal in this performance.
My god.
He ALWAYS is
Sex in legs.
It's a great one for sure.
Queen ! One of my favorite bands. My stepson played this song as his wedding dance lol. Thank you Biz

❤LOVE QUEEN👑
Please react to ‘Somebody to Love’ live ……in Milton Keynes 1982 and/or Montreal 1981. Same song….a little different presentation from Freddie.

Love Fat Bottom Girls👍🏻

You could try Fat Bottomed Girls for another Queen - and wonder if they really said that.
Yes, I agree... the live at Milton Keynes 1982 "Fat bottomed girls "
Queen… Legends!!
