I bought some skull candy earbuds for my laptop so I don’t have to use discord on my phone because I didn’t have headphones that worked with the pc, and I noticed the mic in the earbuds were not working. I looked up a video about “why doesn’t my earbud mic work” and saw a video and it said you need to buy an external cable and other crap like that and then I came across this video and it saved the day, after I uninstalled the Realtek drive, my mic was working perfectly. Thank you very much 🙏

Windows will auto reinstall the driver upon plugging in a device that uses it or needs it. Since it is a default driver it'll be reinstalled upon startup

Thank you very much, this tutorial helped me solve the problem. I needed to reinstall the Realtek HD audio software on Asus X540SC, now the computer detects the device when it is plugged to the jack port, the Realtek software asks if the device is a headset, a mic or speaker, so i can select and then it works fine.
this helped me soo much thank you my mic started to work when i installed the driver and did some adjustments thank you soo much i had two 3pin 3.5mm trr one for mic and sound and my laptop only came with one jack so i had to buy a splitter but when it came i could hear sound but my mic wouldnt work and now thanks to this vid it works i appreciate this vid soo much thank you

The only option that worked for me was to go to the Dell's website, find my laptop reference and download again the audio driver. It doesn't matter that the Device Manager says that the audio driver is the latest. For some reason the one from the Dell website is the one that worked. Try with your own brand and reference.
Hey, I’ve discovered a solution for this issue. It turns out that some PCs lack a combined microphone and headphone jack (TRSS). If your PC has separate mic and headphone jacks (TRS), the fix is straightforward: just grab a TRSS to TRS converter, and voilà-it’ll work seamlessly!, Thank me later, just make sure its working on your phone first

i desperate need help. i have a set of headphones that i comes with a cord that has a microphone on it, no i know the headset can be connected to a mic. the part that plugs right into the headphones is a three pin, then that other end is a four pin. and on that cord there is a microphone. i ONLY have a headset jack in my laptop. shouldn't it work since the end that goes into the headset port is a four pin? im so desperate
