Great reaction - and you are absolutely right, BABYMETAL is fun. You already have some excellent suggestions for more reactions to their songs ... and you will be surprised every time. I hope you will also be dancing along again every time, that was fun - they have different choreography for every song and it serves two purposes, interpreting the song for those of us who don't speak Japanese, but most importantly it is to get the audience involved so they become part of the performance too.

Since their inception, they've won over 35 International awards, have been on the covers of industry magazines (REVOLVER, METAL HAMMER, ROLLING STONE, KERRANG), & have a passionate, dedicated, & engaged fanbase, a.k.a. "THE ONE".
Their band, the KAMI BAND (KAMI means God, spirit, divine being), are some of the best musicians in Japan, & often dress in traditional Japanese burial robes & corpse or ghost makeup.
BABYMETAL & the KAMI BAND are all about energy, performance, craftsmanship, & FUN! Unlike most K-Pop, J-Pop, or other female Idol groups, BABYMETAL uses no suggestive or sexual imagery, lyrics, or choreography in their music or performances. This is intentional. Check out videos from Tokyo Dome in 2016, where they sold out back-to-back dates with 55,000 fans in attendance each night, or 2014 at Sonisphere in the UK, where they were virtually unknown & many attendees were skeptical & thought these teenage girls were just a gimmick - the end result was BABYMETAL turned a crowd of over 50,000 metalheads into fans with their performance.

You need to be careful, the Babymeteal foxhole will draw you in and you'll never want to leave. Great reaction though, and is pretty normal for first-time listeners. This is basically a genre of music, kawaii (cute) metal, in which they are the best by far, and certainly one of the pioneers. Their live shows are second to none though.

@@ljfelton8057 If you get the chance, look up some info on the band itself, they've been around for almost 10 years, and many of their songs deal with topics that relate to being girls/women and how unfair society can be to them, plus the need to fight back against it.

Keep it going- every BM song is different and they WILL surprise you! Awesome musicians and the three super dancers/singers will blow you away. BTW headbanger in Japanese is he-do-ba-n, that's what they are singing. The songs about a 15 year old girl going to a heavy metal show. The girls are: Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-Metal) in the center, Yui Mizuno (Yui-Metal) - the extra cute one and Moa Kikuchi (Moa-metal) the one with the brightest smile on the planet (most time right side here). Welcome to Babymetal!!!! This group is unlike anything you've ever known, and will probably stay the only group you'll ever see mix idol pop vocals with metal so amazingly well! The veterans will be here sooner or later to give you the full facts, but a little background...
Babymetal started off as a sub-unit of an idol group (Sakura Gakuin or cherry blossom school-- themed around a school for idols to learn their craft) but gained enough popularity to split and become their own independent group. Su-metal(lead vocals), yuimetal(scream and dance), and moametal(scream and dance) pioneered Kawaii (cute) metal. There is sooo much more to it, but again the veterans will show up to tell all that!
Every single one of their 50+ songs are different from each other (some drastically so) and each will mix different genres in different ways. They incorporate multiple metal sounds (heavy, rock, prog, nu, dance, folk, ect...you name it, they've probably done it) with those stellar vocals and give us something completely unique everytime!Also...live is the way to go with Babymetal. They really are a performance band, not a studio one. For babymetal the studio tracks are like appetizers. Live is the 5 star chef full course! But please do check out their MVs, as each is brilliantly shot and gives more insight to the song itself!
I personally recommend "Megitsune" (live at mukahari or budokan) be your next choice, followed by "Road of Resistance" (live in japan). For a Su-metal solo try (my current fav) "Rondo of Nightmare" (live at budokan Black Night) and for a duet of Yui- and Moametal try "Sis Anger" (not sure which venue or show to choose from here but definitely live!)

I'm probably repeating others, but Headbanger is the title of the song. "Hedoban" is the Japanese word for "head-bang" or "headbanger." Legend of 1997 was the name of the concert, which was Su-Metal's 16th birthday (she was born in 1997). There is also a Legend of 1999, which was a birthday show for Yui and Moa, who were born about three weeks apart in 1999. For a real treat, you should look up Moa-banger on RUclips. The best version is from 2019, but there's one from when she was younger, also. In that, Su gives Moa the microphone and let's her take the lead for the last half of the sing ... and Moa's regular singing voice is gorgeous! It's a wonderful Babymetal moment! By the way, glad you liked them, and welcome to the "Foxhole!"
Here's the 2019 version of Headbanger, featuring Moa on lead! I love how the crowd goes crazy when they realize Moa is getting to sing! This is after Yui left Babymetal for health reasons, so the third girl onstage is Kano-Metal, who does not sing, but just dances. This was Moa's 20th birthday, and Su was 21 at the time of this video (this was July 2019, and Su would turn 22 in December). In the one you reacted to, Yui and Moa were 14, and Su had just turned 16.

Their lyrics are uplifting and nothing like the death metal instrumentals...songs about girls worrying about their weight while loving chocolate, not bullying anyone, not underestimating girls or the power of love to overcome distance and time. And you're right...the audience (known as The One) is a huge part of the Show.

This was in 2013. They were formed in late 2010. This is probably their first great concert. If not it's one of the first. The Kami Band that backs them wasn't even full time yet. Part of this show had pre-recorded music. They've played exclusively with the Kami Band since 2014.
There are lots of great concerts after this. But you won't see many on youtube. They get blocked aggressively. They always put on a great show. They're one of the best live bands in the world.

Many thanks from Japan 有難う💛。I love your cheerful reaction and I love to see it more. Please follow any recommendations suggested below by a number of great fans from numerous countries. But there is a problem with BABYMETAL for Japanese fans. They perform more in foreign countries than in Japan. For example from 2019 until March 2020 they held 20 concerts in USA,19 in Europe (incl. Glastonbury festival) and 1 in Taiwan (festival) as opposed to only 11 in Japan + 3 festivals. And many concerts and appearance in festivals in Asian and European countries were cancelled due to the pandemic. Anyway I believe they will restart their world tour soon after the current situation subsides. So you can witness their super performance live hopefully next year.

2020 is the 10 year anniversary for Babymetal, Su (singer) is 22 and Moa (dancer) is 21 today. They have been performing professionally from about 6 yo. They are are the most famous and popular Japanese band in the world. Last year as part of their world tour they sold-out the LA Forum.

BabyMetal is always fun. The verses are always positive, though they're sung in a mixture of English and Japanese. The music is always overpowering. You're supposed to let yourself have a good time when you watch BabyMetal. They are great! Mom gets it. Erica? Not so much. :)
