I’ve never watched a yearly wrap up vid with an ao3 rec before!!! Respect. I read some incredible fics this year too. New subscriber - please keep posting for the non TikTok girlies!!
and this your living kiss is such a beautiful story, i constantly think about kt and it made me want to read poetry (have i? no, but it made me understand why ppl do it)
I'm adding so many of these to my tbr!! I've heard so many amazing things about giovanni's room so maybe this is the year i truly attempt to read it! So many good recs, great video!!
Something that Beverly Jenkins excels at is showcasing community in her books. I love her books where we see the FMC become a part of the local community. And you are one of the creators who finally convinced me to try The Count of Monte Cristo in 2025.
I’m so excited to hear this about princess jellyfish I watched the anime a long time ago and was scared the manga wasn’t going to give me the same feelings or disappoint me! Me running to go pick it up now hearing this 😂
just finished your worst books video, refreshed youtube and this one was there and waiting for me! i'm super glad to see you over on youtube and can't wait to follow along on your journey this year! :D 💜
Pride and Prejudice and The Count of Monte Cristo are all-time favorites for me! One of my best friends just finished Braiding Sweetgrass and loved it (and it’s already on my TBR) so I’m going to try to get to it soon! I had a good reading year in 2024 and I’m glad you did too!
@@superjess89 the author narrates the Braiding Sweetgrass audiobook and I wish she could narrate every book I read ever!! The positive experiences I had with intimidating classics this past year has me eager to get into some new ones I’ve been avoiding :0
So so thrilled to see someone else talking about Princess Jellyfish! It was one of the first mangas I ever read (in like sixth grade I think?) along with Noragami and they changed my brain forever
Walking Practice was a strange, awesome read. And idk how I read Count of Monte Cristo in my youth. I think I had a somewhat condensed version already. But I should reread it someday.
A lot of these are on my tbr bc of you! If you're looking for a recommendation from listening to you talk about non-fiction I would recommend "The Eloquence of the Sardine" by Bill Francois, it's a poetic and informative book about sealife. I learned lot about how intertwined we are with the ocean and the creatures that live in it! I'd get swept up in the writing alot! It was one of my 5 star reads of 2024!
some of my fav reads this year that i haven't seen tons of people talk about are The Stars Too Fondly, Not for the Faint of Heart, Mabuhay!, and The Girl Who Drank the Moon
It was an excellent reading year for me too, but if I had to narrow it down my top 5 would have to be Impossible Creatures (I cannot recommend this enough, especially the audiobook, I just adore Samuel West’s reading of it), finally got around to reading Babel and Yellowface - both obviously fantastic, Queen Macbeth was a surprise gem, and Merry Inkmass was a delicious little treat for Christmas 🙂↕️

‘And this your living kiss’ Is a PERFECT first Destiel fanfiction. It’s absolutely beautiful
Oooh Walking Practice has been on my TBR for ages. I need to read it

You should check out The Last Count of Monte Cristo! It's a afro-futuristic graphic novel retelling of the original story, and it's really good!
