Just did this on my new yak today. Kydex DIY style but I used marine grade 2 part epoxy. I'm sure the goop is much cheaper for the amount you get.

One thing to note is if you have a really heavy kayak dragging it will eat through the gaurd fast, I made that mistake with mine but thankfully it just ate through the gaurd leaving only minor scratches
