Gonna try it tomorrow!! I'm as tough on mine as you are. Thx for posting
My Tarpon 120’s keel is looking about like this these days. I’ve been looking at repair options - might do this myself! Thanks for posting 👊
First off. Welcome back. I though this was a cooking video. 😅 second, sick mod, very smart. I’ll definitely do it, too. 😁🤙🏼
JB weld FTW
Im gonna order some JB Weld now.. thanks for the tip!
Silicone cooking "Scoop", with end cut off. Makes JB Weld smoothing a "Breeze"!
(Patched a "worn-through-hole" in a friend's Cheap Walmart 'Yak with it, after scuffing up with 36 grit sand paper. Been working great for over 2 years).
nice tip! would love to make this thing looking smooth. Hopefully someone will see your comment and give that a try
@@MOBBINOutdoors I'm about to do the same thing to my Catch 100 'Yak, as I've noticed some scratches on the front/bottom of the hull (Plenty of rocks, in Arkansas Lakes!). Haha!
For the "Smoothing" process, I'm going to try a Silicone Mat when it starts to harden. That way, I can use a little rubber roller and smooth-out any "irregularities", without it sticking to anything. (If it works well, I'll let ya know!)
@@MSmith-jf5wo how did it work out, about to try this with my catch 110
Just did this mod to my Titan 10.5, worked great! Thanks!
Awesome man!
I know this is an old video but thanks for doing this. I have looked at many different options. I am going with this one on my Hoodoo.
I so need to do this to mine.
Damn need that for my 10.5 also
Parchment paper is the secret for making it smooth.
Genius!!!!
Cool! I tried a chunk of pvc pipe stuck on with double sided tape. Not too happy with it. Tried Gorilla Tape. Nope. This looks like THE solution!
Nice
Just thinking would a bit of heat gun treatment smooth it out at the setting stage? Rookie question here
How's it holding up? Looks very strong.
Wow 100° degrees there? I need to move to el do.. too cold here in south sac.
lol old video i never got to post. This was shot in the summer.
nice demo! can i use that to install a patch over small leak on a kayak or aluminum canoe?
I am not sure about that. I suggest plastic welding for something like that
Would this work to fix holes ?
How has this jb weld held up?
still going STRONG! scuffed up because i go into the ramp on full send LOL!
Did you use both of the jb weld tubes?
yup, its pretty beat up now. But still protecting my boat!
Thanks for replying appreciate it. I ended up ordering gator guard
You might try using a stiff paint brush, maybe a soft toothbrush dragged across the surface.
It might be interesting to use cellophane or even wax paper over the jb-weld using a brush or thin plastic to smooth the surface. Hopefully it would peel off easily.
How well has it held up!?
got beat up pretty bad and finally chipped off. I didn't bother re-applying. But it held up a long time.
@@MOBBINOutdoors thanks for the reply. I kinda figured as much with it. I think I'm gonna go a different route.
Hey Einstein that's a two part epoxy. You suppose to mix the two tubes together!!! Then apply it to your canoe. Its not going to harden correctly!
He did.
I probably would have used real tools. Plastic spoon and edge of a plastic package?
lol.
