Hi Diane and Tamsin! Love your birds and pets immensely! I've been quite ill of late, can't paint, but throughly enjoy your lovely videos as I progress to better health. Your videos save me by keeping me connected to my beloved watercolor. Happy weekend to you both! xx Fanna in Denver, Colorado
hi Diane. I'm an old (long time) viewer but will watch more often now that I'm in Croatia visiting my 98 yo mother in law. Not much English is spoken here, so I'm often in my own world. My pen pal will enjoy the painting I do because she gifted me watercolor note cards.
Thanks, Diane. I tend to be quite impatient and skip over a lot of important details. This was a very good introduction to watercolor painting for beginners. I’m glad I watched it.
This was wonderful. I am one of the beginners and you make so simple and easy to understand. I think I am almost to the point of controlling my water but lots to learn. I feel like a sponge trying to soak up everything I see you do. I love watching your videos. Thank you so much for being there for people like me. ❤
Thank you for another beautiful hour of painting with watercolor 🙂I have been recommending your channel to other women I meet when I am out at the local craft stores. You have given me such great tips for brushes and paints using limited supplies, I just have to share what you do so well. Blessings
Thanks so much Valerie, I don’t know if you know how much difference that makes to our channel, but truly I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do to help us. There is nothing I enjoy more than trying to share my love of painting with everyone and you are helping me so much to do that. Sending hugs xxx
Thank you for this video Diane. I started painting on the last week of March for the very first time. At that time I didn’t see what a life saver it would turn out to be. You see, for the past two weeks my 21 year old granddaughter has been in ICU, then transferred to SICU in a different hospital after they were able to diagnose her disease. She has NMDA receptor encephalitis--a type of autoimmune encephalitis that prompts the immune system to mistakenly attack the brain. The road to recovery is a long one. Painting has become my way of finding moments of escape from the worry and stress. I enjoy all your videos. ❤️
@@DianeAntoneStudio thank you Diane. Prayers are most appreciated for our Amalia. She will be flown to a larger hospital, five hours from where we live, where she will enter a new program for people with this illness. First they have to bring under control the infection that is attacking her body.
So sorry for your loss, I do so enjoy hearing your roosters in the background. We had a rooster once, I absolutely adored him but we weren’t allowed to keep him as we lived in the suburbs 😢
First I would like to say I am sorry to hear about the cockerel. On a lighter note, thank you again for a great video. I always learn so much and your artistic suggestions are appreciated..
Sorry for loosing your rooster.😢I love hearing him in the background. Thank you for sharing you heart with us and giving comfort for people hurting or not feeling confident to do watercolour. ❤❤❤
Diane, having just rewatched this lovely video, I went back to your 3.5-hour long compilation of abstract paintings. Perfect for further exploration and inspiration! Love Kate Leach’s book, too - will be trying out the quill brushes today:)
Hi i have to agree about your animals. perfect music. My dog loves listening to them as well. As i recover from life issues i watch you and wish you well from Australia I will try this soon, as Ive received my kuretake autumn tones. Absolutely beautiful. Diane you always leave me inspired and are a major part of my recovery due to your pleasant way of sharing your world with us. Thank you.
I’m so glad I’ve been able to be part of your recovery, although we don’t know each other in person sometimes that’s not necessary. I was just telling an old friend of mine, who is recovering from bowel cancer surgery, about a lady I barely knew who gave me the courage to overcome my own cancer surgery and to believe I could survive. That was 30 years ago now but I never forgot her. I still have the little angel she gave me. So sending you big hugs and best wishes for a complete recovery in quick time! Xxxx
Thank you for this beginners' guide. I found your description of the art nouveau set in regards to harmonious colors and your explanation of quill brushes very useful. I will probably leave my art nouveau pans in the box to make use of their order. I have been wondering why I would want to use a quill brush and haven't seen it explained. I look forward to painting this in my sketch book and may repeat it in different colors. I also enjoyed watching you road test a brand new brush. Colorado just reintroduced wolves last October. The ranchers don't like it, but will get reimbursed for lost cows. The state will be reintroducing wolverines next. I hope the wolves stay far away from your sheep.
We recently visited Chartwell and his painting room and small gallery and listened to a guide telling us about some individual paintings. It was brilliant!
I love this video. I have been watching you for some while and have learned so much!! Your self deprecating manner is reassuring to me and often makes me laugh! 😆 I’ve already purchased many things because of your love of them, Kuretaki Art Nouveau, several of which are hitting bottom already!, Meeden paper, and now Mr. Churchill’s book is on my wish list. Thank you for what you do and I will endeavor to comment more!
Salutation, love the tutorials, pumpkins and fall leaves and birds are beautiful, thank you for offering a giveaway, I’ve never have any sets with so many paints, good luck everyone
Hi Diane! Thank you for another great painting! This looks very relaxing too. I always play music when I paint and I really enjoy the combination. But I do know that the varied music preferences of people make it hard to play music for a video. I enjoy hearing your birdies and your animals in the background and I love your voice!
I absolutely love that! Mine of course does NOT look the same but it WILL be hung on a wall someday. I, of course had to quit after about a half hour, got all hurty and tired (it's ok, not feeling sorry for myself, not today anyway 😃) For the next 10 years I will be working on it....I kid I kid, 6 yrs, but I WILL finish it. I am unable to work on that Meeden size like yours, so I cut it in half. I thought I'd cut it down even further for slightly mini size and so they will be little cards for friends. That's an idea in my head anyway. Thanks so much for sharing this piece ol lovely art.😍
Hi Diane, Thankyou for the beginners tutorial, it was very helpful. Also, so sorry to hear of the loss of your Cockerel, Remy. I enjoyed listening to him in the background of your videos.
New subscriber here, I have just found your tutorials - and can't wait to sit down and go back and watch previous videos. I have also subscribed to your newsletter. Looking forward to trying out this tutorial as you explain so well and it looks very easy and the results look fantastic. I do like the gold pen you use, but its very expensive here in Australia.
Welcome to the channel! I’m so glad you found us and hope you get much inspiration from following the videos! Sorry about the cost of things in Oz, it’s a problem for us in France also. Happy painting!
Love the flat palette and also the one that is holding your Kuretake paint pans in. I would like to know the source for the long slender divided palette. The painting is wonderful!
So pleased to see this video. Lots of ideas. And the paints you used., I picked up a box of these paints while visiting my daughter in America so thank you for explaining the colour layout. I'm also Newbi member. Looking forward to seeing you more. x
So sorry you lost your rooster. I was wondering why it had gone quiet in your studio. I love Kuretake paints. They are wonderful. I bought them on a recommend from a Paul Clark lesson.
I love my Kuretake paints, and I have several sets. I also love the Viviva paints, and Meeden tube watercolours. All of which you recommended, thank you! I've recommended you/your channel to new youtube artists, and painters I meet in local groups. This painting is lovely, and a very calming thing to do. I enjoyed using a limited pallet. Mx

Bonjour Valerie, et merci pour votre gentillesse ! Oui, il y a longtemps j’étais enseignante dans un école primaire et je faisais des leçons de peinture pour mes élèves (qui avaient 10 ans) Ca m’a fait bcp de plaisir !
Dear Diane, i absolutely loved this tutorial and i reckon all the newcomers will do too and keep coming back for more 😊 The end result was stunning. I love this set of paints. I also find the washy tape reusable, its great value for light painting where not a lot of water is used 👍💗 xx
I love this. It is what I call a sampler in watercolour. Great book that shows this and more is 'Creative Abstract Watercolour by Kate Rebecca Leach ' I used this as inspiration fairly recently too. I really like your colour choices and the Autumn feel to it.
Yes, I’ve got that book and have done two painting videos featuring some of her ideas just recently - here: ruclips.net/video/TjUzKhn77RA/видео.htmlsi=kdpUY2FYkaqnjNd5 for example!
That turned out great. You need a Great Pyrenees to protect your sheep two really work best together for livestock. They are wonderful protectors and fabulous family members. I've been lucky enough to have two through the years.
I'm so sorry to hear about your cockerel. I had no idea how badly injured he was the other day. Our old dog died in late June; it's always hard to lose a loved animal.

Very sorry about your huge loss, it must be a terrible time for you. All I can say is don’t worry about the ability to paint in the sense of how “good” it is - just try to paint color and let it flow. It is a healing process. This one is ideal for that. Sending prayers and hugs xxx Diane xxx

Excellent lesson!! And the painting is just beautiful! I’m enjoying this foray into abstraction.
This is one I'm definitely going to do, and in very similar colours as I love them. It's so cheerful 😊

Hi Diane,

Also, so sorry to hear of the loss of your Cockerel, Remy. I enjoyed listening to him in the background of your videos.
Luckily we still have Gabriel. So there will still be music in the background!
@@DianeAntoneStudio Thankyou for your reply and I look forward to hearing Gabriel as the background music in your future videos.
I love this one . I'm happy to paint it again thank you
That’s great! Different paints and different colors… always interesting to see what turns up!

It ended up beautiful! 😮
