Very interesting, I'm a Navajo from Fruitland NM, I've been to Shiprock many times, heard of stories and legends,to many to count. But you did a very respectful and informative job on your vlogg, Thank you😍🥰😘❤
Thank you very much for your comments. One of my best friends from the Marine Corps lived there and unexpectedly passed away. He gave us the stories about the area and we hoped this would honor him in a way. So much great history in your area!
In another navajo story a monster lived on top and twin warriors climb to the top and destroyed the monster. In Navajo stories if you see lava rocks that are bright red. Then giants lived and died in that area. The lava rocks are the giants blood. .
@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy yes. Me too. If you look past shiprock to Ute Mountain to the north. That mountain is called sleeping Ute. It resembles a chief sleeping on his back.
@@Hey_its_Koda Wow, I will have to check that out. I guess they thought that these things didn’t look like things for no reason so they had to mean something.
I am soooo loving this channel! It seems like every episode touches my life in some way. My son's Navajo tribe is from here in Shiprock. I lived in New Mexico for a year and have been to these sites. It is so pretty there!
i just got home from visiting the shiprock area. its insane how large it is. the sears tower in chicago is just a few feet shorter than the shiprock, and both are easily visable from 30 miles away!
Now, finally, I can relax knowing the history of this rock formation. Joking about being sarcastic. I love history and legends so I appreciate your lesson.
Sorry that you didn’t appreciate the excitement haha. Not for everyone but glad that you felt the need to let me know something negative. Comments like yours is what keeps me going, haha.
Ended up here after watching another video that mentioned Shiprock, saying that it was a very powerful place full of energy. I am not surprised to learn its the core of an old volcano! One look at it and that was my guess! But why oh why would anyone want to climb it??!! 😱 Its so HIGH!! Are people allowed to go look at it?
Thanks for watching Sarah! Yep, you can certainly go look at it & climb the areas around it but just don’t go up near the actual rock itself. It is a breathtaking place that is very important to many of our friends.
@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy In a book series "war dogs" Greg bear writes about rocks that fell from the sky that contain genetic information aka seeds of life. This is eeriely similar. If It is the heart of a volcano I will accept that.
In the town of Shiprock, there is an adult store and right across-the-street, a religious billboard with a picture of Jesus and big letters, JESUS IS WATCHING. The billboard faced the adult store, so one wonders what Jesus was watching.
It was and still is a haunting experience, filled with awww , wonder and fear. It was an evening, sunset time.
I bet that was beautiful.
I Absolutely Loved this video 🫠💚

Thanks for your support. We hope to go back and interview some elderly folks.
Can you imagine traveling for days on horseback or wagon looking for that rock, so you will know your not lost.
That would not be fun at all, I don't think.
How this ended up on my feed ..hmmm...
Missing my hometown
Interesting! You are from Shiprock?
Yup
The Star People
I'ma have to git me one of them bird monsters.
Haha, from the sounds of it, it wouldn’t be long until your new pet made a meal out of you. 😳
Circle of life!

Isn’t it amazing?! Looking at its it just doesn’t even seem real at times. It’s easy to see how it has always been a spiritual place to people.
Now, finally, I can relax knowing the history of this rock formation. Joking about being sarcastic. I love history and legends so I appreciate your lesson.
Hahaha, I really got a chuckle out of that!
Pretty Cool..
It’s hard to get a feel for how amazing that it is in the video. What a place.
It looked like a castle for me! Beautiful!
It’s amazing. Photos do not do it justice!
A very ancient castle surrounded by a great wall. You can't tell that aint a huge, gigantic wall.
Thank You Family Tree Nuts for your explained version of the Shiprock Rock ,
Absolutely! We hope to return soon to document some more Navajo history!
Very interesting!!
Wild stories, huh?
Can always tell when iam home.. I would see this on the drive into aztec....
Wonderful land mark for centuries! I’m sure it was a welcome sign for you for sure.
U did a pretty good job explaining Shiprock!
Well thank you sir! It’s an unbelievable place for sure.
Interesting never knew about that! Thanks for the history!!
Yes sir! What a cool place, huh?
Thx you for a update cultural event that in our back yard, The Rock wth wings.
Yes ma’am it is an amazing spot and photos don’t do it justice.
I know it well. I am a geophysicist by trade. So Shiprock was always a topic of subject.
Wow! I can’t even pronounce that occupation! Lol. “Wait, this is a history video, not a science video! Let’s get back to the history!” 😆
Love your channel! Absolute Truth! Coolest ever!
We thanks buddy, soooo much on the way. We are hoping to come back to shoot more history with our Navajo friends very soon.
Thank you ♡
Yes ma’am, we hope to be out there to do some more soon.
This is freaking gnarly
Yes sir! It hard to capture how cool it is on camera.
Is there a reason this guy is screaming? Thanks for the info, but I had to turn the volume way down just to bear it.

Now we can go up to and touch it. Even climb it.
Really? I hadn’t heard that. Is that something brand new?
@Family Tree Nuts, History & Genealogy Service Oh no. It's been open since 2018. I took some friends from Grand Prairie, TX to the base of it.
Dang, what a big package ya got there!

I believe those are petrified ancient tree stumps
Maybe thos polygonal megalithic walls were once ancient aqua ducts
looks like an ancient structure that was destroyed in the mud flood.
Tse Bit Ai means Rock with Wings.
Yes sir, sure do love this place and it’s history.
And let's not mention nothing obvious and that is that it looks identical to a giant tree trunk
You know I didn’t even realize that in person but in the picture it definitely does.
A mythical rite of passage
It definitely gives you that mythical, supernatural feeling.
It's either the remnant of a giant tree or a fossilized intergalactic vessel
Welllll… haha, it’s a monadnock.

Oh my goodness 😳
Shiprock is on the reservation. The adult store you speak of is off the rez, in Farmington NM.
Looks like a tree
I never thought of that but it does, it’s HUGE though.
Damn rednecks
Us? If so, thanks for the compliment lol.
So sacred weirdos and drunks hangout there and party..ya. id say thats pretty sacred
Well that’s a bummer. I suppose you always have some of those.
