Our AC-130's don't generally fly combat missions during the day and they certainly don't fly their missions at super elevations. This whole video is cropped together. Do a search for Spirit 03 during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After losing the aircraft and crew to a Surface to air strike the whole fleet was upgraded to include MANPAD warning, flares, chaff etc... The last AC-130 lost was I believe in 1994 to a premature detonation of a 105 round in the barrel of the howitzer. We've not lost any to combat since 1991.

Not even close. This wasn't even close to the gunships flare load. Not to mention that gunships don't fly solo. There's at least 1 more gunship or 2 support fighters. Usually A10s The gunships draws them out, the fire their rpg and the second aircraft comes in and ends all their misery.
Actually what the AC130 is ejecting is chaf. A bunch of aluminum powder that is ignited in little bursts like you see here to fool heat seeking systems. They have flairs too, but flairs don't work as well as chaf does. And they look much different.
Well, early withdrawal and leaving all these weapons behind in Afghanistan doesn't help. I mean, next time, they'll bring down an American filled passenger jet instead. We only have ourselves to blame for creating enemies and leaving behind weopons for them to use.

That smoke angel it creates when it does that is the last thing that they see on the ground before the entire terrain is remodeled. I read an article when I was younger that said if they fired ALL the weapons on one side of this aircraft simultaneously as it was turning so that those weapons were pointed down, the plane would actually CLIMB in altitude.

Читал, что во время Вьетнамской войны даже ПЗРК "Игла" плохо справлялась с "Ганшипами" из-за их размеров. Попадёт ракета в борт или корму, а самолёт дальше продолжит полёт (если не выведены критические компоненты). Все говорят о безграничной мощи подобных машин, но я думаю, что они ещё не встречались с достойным отпором, как ПВО, так и истребителей перехватчиков.

Got fired at by a SAM coming out of Baghdad in 2004... Imagine a C-130 being honked around like a fighter plane while puking out dozens of flares. The system is called the AN/AAR-44. Crews call it the Angel Flare System.

For anyone that doesn't know what's going on here, the aircraft picked up the signature of the anti aircraft missile the instant it was fired as it follows the engine heat it will strike the aircraft in one of its engines ,however the aircraft has released a heat shield that the missile will follow detonating a safe distance from the aircraft, well that's the theory anyway,

Multiple rocket launch points at different timed intervals that gunship would be very possible to take down. Say 20 locations, and one will hit or more. It's still good at evading at higher altitudes.

Why would one fire only one missile? Fire at least 10 in intervals that will exhaust or overwhelm the plane's defensive countermeasures

For anyone that doesn't know what's going on here, the aircraft picked up the signature of the anti aircraft missile the instant it was fired as it follows the engine heat it will strike the aircraft in one of its engines ,however the aircraft has released a heat shield that the missile will follow detonating a safe distance from the aircraft, well that's the theory anyway,

this thing is gigantic and slow, I think firing multiple not ir or radar lock missiles, means manual controlled or not guided at all but in higher quantity would be more effective

Multiple rocket launch points at different timed intervals that gunship would be very possible to take down. Say 20 locations, and one will hit or more. It's still good at evading at higher altitudes.
