honestly i think the difference in enthusiasm is 90% that... they'd recorded the whole thing once already, there's no excitement over it being a new song or promotion they're doing, it's literally just extra work. i liked some of the elective hand-gestures more in the earlier version, though.

I really liked how this song is distributed. Even thought Hyo gets the least amount of lines as in most of the songs, you can actually hear her on both verses and she even got a center in the final chorus. Is like this song was made for the dance line to shine, not only because of the hard choreography itself (which also shows the vocal line can dance hard as well) but because the dance line sings the verses and then the vocal line switches to the pre-chorus when in most songs is the other way around. Each of them takes turns to sing and everybody switches lines on the second verse. Also in the 3 choruses, there's always a dance line member at the center (YoonA on 1st, Yuri on 2nd, and Hyo on final) while Sooyoung got the "I'm going to find my heart" part on the final pre-chorus because vocal line was doing the high notes/ad-libs. And finally, every dance line member but Hyo got one of Jessica's lines, which would normally be given to TTS (Tae still got her high note, which was obvious considering Sica was also a main vocal) so it prooves what I already said: This song was *meant* for the dance line. I just wish we could have seen OT9 performing it live as well as the korean version.

The OT9 video has better colors in the daylight scene. The sky is blue (OT8 the sky is almost non-existent) and the ground pops out more (in the OT8 video it also does but mostly it's washed out by the sun). It goes the other way in the evening scene with OT8 looking better (also they did not forget to turn on the light when Taeyeon did the interlude/bridge in the Korean version). As people will tend to have preferences in terms of how each member looks, so can't comment on them (although Yoona looks stunning in both :) ). As for the dancing, I don't know. It looks like the dancing has a bit more pop to it on OT8 but considering they had to re-shoot it, I guess they felt they had to show they could still carry the performance post-Jesssica. Jessica almost bumped into Hyo-yeon at 2:01 and she is known for losing her place in performances so typical Ice Princess till the very last performance.
2:31 even though i do like the colour grading, lighting and camerawork in the ot8 version more (especially with the camerawork on taeyeon being significant better focused on and better centring of the members in frame and camera movement during sooyoung's part (and sooyoung leading that bit being refreshing)), i feel like jessica doing the second part of the bridge in the ot9 version was better, even if the camerawork was weaker.
2021 and I’m still sad. She was so excited about this song in her show with Krystal. If you just watch the OT8 version alone, you won't quite be able to put your finger on what feels off. Side by side with OT9... wow OT8 shows girls who are great artists and performers, but while there is professionalism in it, their hearts are not. If that was their debut performance, they'd not have caught on, because comparatively, it's lifeless. OT9 has a spark, an energy that lends crispness and impact to their moves, and life to their smiles. It's dynamic. You can *feel* their moves, the way a good martial arts movie or manga makes you feel - believe in - the impact of each hit.
I agree OT9 has more energy and they really enjoy what their doing, but OT8 they still have professionalism and they are still giving us that energy but it's not the same as before because deep inside they are still sad after Jessica was force to leave the group and the company. Because SNSD without Jessica it's still heartbreaking...
As weird as seeing them not being 9, I must admit the camera man did a much better job in OT8 and the stylist as well, the girls look prettier with some of the hair styles.

but the camera were at different levels even if you pause it, hyoyeon's head was lowered and leveled in the ot9 compared to the ot8 om the beginning of the hairflip 🤔 and taeyeon was smiling in the right side back with her bangs, i think then hyoyeon's hair was higher right before the hairflip ends but before taeyeon's high note ends its the same hairstyle with the ot8 wherein both taeyeon and hyoyeon are captured in the center of the framed. then when it came to hyoyeon's hairflip with her hair on the right side spread out you can see taeyeon on the right with different hairstyles for both vids. they probably did multiple cuts of which stayed and which were replaced on that specific part. right before it zooms out to the full group you can see taeyeon's ot9 mr. mr. bangs but when it finally zoomed out there were only 8 in the ending of the ot9 ver. sorry if my explanation is confusing 😂

It's 2021 and the girls' 14th anniversary just passed. As a SONE since 2011, I already accepted the fact that SNSD is OT8 already but forever OT9 in my heart. SNSD and Jessica would also be happy if us SONEs and Golden Stars would be happy for what they are now, how far did they have come, and what did they achieve since 2015. Let's be happy for their successes for what makes them happy now. 💙
People are ignoring the best part about this: this proves they kicked Jessica of the group. If you know a member is going to leave you won't waste time on including her in a video is she won't be around to promote or simply be there. But they filmed her and then filmed without her again. Because SM lied.
tbh they went all out on this MV because it was Jessica's last, they were supposed to do the Tokyo Dome, and then she'd leave. Something happened that made all that happen sooner, so they had to reshoot everything on a moment's notice. I doubt SM kicked her out, they wasted so much money on this fiasco that CMIYC is still the most expensive comeback ever in kpop (accounting for re-shoots and all the packaging they had top burn and do again). It's not like a group can kick out a member if there's contract left. My guess is Jessica sued SM for big money if her contract wasn't terminated and it was cheaper to re-do the comeback material than to pay her.

It looks kind of like in OT8 they were a little off timing wise and in OT9 the moves synched better with the music. OT8 they seemed more serious too, where as OT9 everyone was more happy and energetic. Will always be OT9 for me, but doesn't stop my appreciation for them being OT8.
Manu I still remember when the OT9 leak was happening and I was talking to (I believe) the leaker, when it was initially being released in chunks. I was disappointed that it wasn’t complete. That’s also when we found out that the track was intended to only be in Japanese originally.

As weird as seeing them not being 9, I must admit the camera man did a much better job in OT8 and the stylist as well, the girls look prettier with some of the hair styles.

i actually think the ot9 version was hastily put together to promote the ot8 version lool sm has leaked shit before. but they would NEVER leave a shot of jessica walking to position like that in a real mv. and even compare it to the ot8 version and see its missing a clip right there. makes me think a lot of it was put together but never polished up bc they didn't need it to be polished

but the camera were at different levels even if you pause it, hyoyeon's head was lowered and leveled in the ot9 compared to the ot8 om the beginning of the hairflip 🤔 and taeyeon was smiling in the right side back with her bangs, i think then hyoyeon's hair was higher right before the hairflip ends but before taeyeon's high note ends its the same hairstyle with the ot8 wherein both taeyeon and hyoyeon are captured in the center of the framed. then when it came to hyoyeon's hairflip with her hair on the right side spread out you can see taeyeon on the right with different hairstyles for both vids. they probably did multiple cuts of which stayed and which were replaced on that specific part. right before it zooms out to the full group you can see taeyeon's ot9 mr. mr. bangs but when it finally zoomed out there were only 8 in the ending of the ot9 ver.

the ot8 version is what every yoona fan ever wanted. a song whose concept adapts 100% to yoona and where her lines are so appropriate. ot9 is always gonna be nostalgic since I was Yoonsic but seeing yoona shining this way on ot8 makes my heart happy. also am I the only who thinks is hella weird that 3 months later the set was exactly the same as in the original filming?

People are ignoring the best part about this: this proves they kicked Jessica of the group. If you know a member is going to leave you won't waste time on including her in a video is she won't be around to promote or simply be there. But they filmed her and then filmed without her again. Because SM lied.
tbh they went all out on this MV because it was Jessica's last, they were supposed to do the Tokyo Dome, and then she'd leave. Something happened that made all that happen sooner, so they had to reshoot everything on a moment's notice. I doubt SM kicked her out, they wasted so much money on this fiasco that CMIYC is still the most expensive comeback ever in kpop (accounting for re-shoots and all the packaging they had top burn and do again). It's not like a group can kick out a member if there's contract left. My guess is Jessica sued SM for big money if her contract wasn't terminated and it was cheaper to re-do the comeback material than to pay her.
@@ghostlyapples SM can afford to pay an artist if they need to, and probably they have clausules to avoid paying them, lol. Also, if she was going to leave, SHE would have to pay them for early extintion of the contract, not viceversa. If she was smart, she would simply wait until her contract was over and walk away debt free. Nah, this video proves they simply had enough of her and kicked her out, and I'm not blaming the other members, I've always said SM is the main culprit here (although I'm kinda side eyeing Taeyeon still).

@@marmalade751 Preparations for a comeback start long before it is released. When they started preparing the CMIYC comeback Jessica was still in the group, then they fired her, so they had to re-record the MV

It looks kind of like in OT8 they were a little off timing wise and in OT9 the moves synched better with the music. OT8 they seemed more serious too, where as OT9 everyone was more happy and energetic. Will always be OT9 for me, but doesn't stop my appreciation for them being OT8.

The leak was cut short, they didn’t leak the complete video, it was missing some seconds
Manu I still remember when the OT9 leak was happening and I was talking to (I believe) the leaker, when it was initially being released in chunks. I was disappointed that it wasn’t complete. That’s also when we found out that the track was intended to only be in Japanese originally.
