Something subtle that most don't notice here is that Goku's score is the lowest, despite being the strongest here, showcasing how great his control is.

Yeah, I also noticed that when I first saw it. Everyone got a higher score than him.
Yep. Vegeta just doesn't care but in terms of control and martial arts ability Goku and Vegeta are at the top. If you take out everyone's strength they are still the most skilled fighters in the universe except Beerus and Whis ofcourse.
Vegeta probably would have been the same or lower, but he hasn't the time nor care to pander to weaklings.

A random upload, but loved it! One of my favourite arcs of the series
same! This period right before shit gets serious in the buu arc is one of my most fondly remembered arcs of the whole series. It has a lot of slice of life wholesome moments. Its just a lot of fun

I met my bf through this saga, we had a similar gohan & videl story. I was obsessed with martial arts, Amanda nunes being one of my heroes & dbz is my favorite show growing up. My bf, is very much like Gohan so it was so nostalgic bringing back those memories! 😭Now that disney has bought the rights to a live action movie, i can't wait to see all this come to life!

i always love that the tournament use to be the peak with the best of the best in the world. then when all the characters surpass the normal human levels it all became all weak and the tournment became a joke even the ring annoucer says it to them.

Vegeta's too goated of a character in the Dragon Ball Universe 😂. His character has come a long way where the series is currently.
you should do a reaction series to dbz abridged. i think ud both love it. plus its much shorter and easier to watch than dbz. I cant see lindsey liking the actual dbz because its a bit rough, especially its pacing. But dbz abridged gets the story across and is pretty hilarious

Broski, I know that many of your audience, me included, would love if you would start reacting to dbz.
I was first introduced to dbz through dbz movies. You know It's really hard and also take a lot of time to get the plot of the series when there are like hundreds of episodes. But it only take you 40 minutes to understand the plot of a movie and only need a little dbz knowledge to know the context. I think to make her familiar with dbz characters, watching dbz movies is a great choice. You can start with bardock movie to show goku origin or android 13, cooler, trunk story...whatever you like. It's an easier way to get hook into dbz quickly.
The reason that the Z Fighters/Dragon Team are there is because the MC, Goku, has come back to life for one day after being dead for seven years. So they decided to enter the world martial arts tournament just fun.
Plus, Vegeta, the one who destroyed the punch machine. The only reason he entered is because he wanted to settle his rivalry with Goku after so many years. Even before Goku died he wanted a rematch for about five years or so.

If you ever decide to show dbz to Lindsay, please start with dragon ball and make her watch it in the correct order. Since Naruto was heavily inspired by dragon ball and she liked it, i think she'll love it. People often think they won't like dragon ball, but when they watch it in the correct order, they love it.
OG Dragonball didn't age well unfortunately. It has its high points but a big chunk of the middle of it is a slog through Red Ribbon Army nonsense episodes
It REALLY hits its stride from episode 58 onwards imo
What's cool too is that '58' is a number that is synonymous with Gohan (just like '59' is for Goku) 😅
