I ended up needing a new handle for my bow so figured I would give the all new shot sense from Mathews a try.

***NOTE*** Mantis makes dry fire rifle/pistol training applications and they also make one for archery(mantis x8) that mounts onto your sight frame, basically the same spot as a tight spot quiver would. The mantis x8 retails for 150$ but I picked one over black friday for 75$. From what I'm seeing of shot sense the mantis setup looks to be better than shot sense IMO. Idk about everyone else but I'm not brand loyal and bounce around bow manufacturers so having mantis makes sense for my application. Mantis is not only 200 or more dollars cheaper but I can run it on any bow. Mathew's marketing is the best in the business so do yourself a favor and look into mantis x8. IMO its crazy to pay mathew's 350$ for a product mantis offers for 150$.

Hopefully I’ll get some more videos that are more than talking head videos. I filmed a hunt but I’m still learning. Going back with my daughter next week so hopefully more footage and success
I snapped my UV grip in the exact same way and it sliced my hand open, I actually think it’s a design flaw because it even cracked in the same pattern as yours
Mathews has always had side plates available to switch too. That’s the first thing I did on my Phase 4. I removed the engage grip and added the Mathews side plates. I have also added the shot sense to my Phase 4 as well.
Yeah I wanted elk shape side plates but they were sold out so I went to the Chris bee. I am very happy with the shot sense but I’m waiting to see who all comes out with side plates for it.

Yea side plates are where its at. I shoot a ton of tournaments and the plates are far superior to the stock grip... they are far more consistent, and I much prefer them over the chris bee v.1 too... Not sure what the elkshape plates would offer over the mathews ones for me... I wrap mine with lizard skin anyways. This shot sense is neat, but doesn't work with my TRX's ... not sure I would spend that kind of money for it either. In my experience there is no silver bullet to getting better. It largely comes down to arrow count. I try to shoot around 200 arrows a day and make every shot count. Consistency is the most critical part of shooting a bow.
Great vid. ElkShape has some very cool side plates as well that allows you to stay pretty slim and trim at the handle. Love the setup. Happy New Year!
Happy new year. Yeah their side plates look cool but are sold out and don’t support the shot sense. Not sure it would be worth it but if they ever made them I would be all over them
This tool is really only useful on the back end of the learning process.
My shot process is as follows
1. Seat bow hand
2. Draw bow (elbow to the sky)
3. Anchor rear hand
4. Align peep & sight housing
5. Pull into back wall pinching back muscles together.
6. Settle pin & slowly operate trigger.
I use Index, Thumb & Hinge so learn the best practices for what you use.

The price on the LIFT is unreal considering what it is (at least here at my local shops 1,099 and 1,199 respectively). Those accessory prices are absolutely ridiculous. Almost insulting. IF i buy one this year, it'll be getting aftermarket everything else.
Couldn’t agree more. I did another video on stabilizers. 2 stabilizers and a vbar bracket from Mathews is over $700. So outside of the shot sense and quiver (which was on par with others) it’s been all aftermarket for me.

What I can see from your float data is that you are timing your shot release as you strafe the centre. Try to draw on your target point to see the size of your float pattern instead of punching the trigger as you come over it.
Definitely working on punching the trigger. Like I mentioned part of the problem is I wasn’t really shooting a target just an area. I definitely have a lot of fine tuning to work on.
Is that shot sense inside the riser enough the b real grip would have worked over it?
no, but UV is apparently coming out with a new version that will.
Correct they have to make a cutout so you can see the device and charge it.
I have bought both Chris bee grips the original and the new one you held up and I found the original was better. The factory Mathews grip is tough to use

After shooting bare riser grips and hoyt and could not stand mathew's rounded grip. Chris Bee's grip is the only reason I still have a mathew's bow.
@@tsi-rocket4144 yeah I like my Chris bee. I actually like the side plates a little better because the roundness is gone and it’s not as wide as the ultraview
You have a hand held release? What helps me is to shoot it like a hinge by keeping tension on my fingers..and touching my thumb to the barrel or trigger and slowly squeezing my ring finger for a three finger release, until the shot breaks. The John Dudley RUclips channel and elk shape with Joel Turner has helped me a lot to be a better archer. Now it looks like you draw weird just by the way the shotsense points.. off center and from left to right meaning you keep your elbow down. Build your shoulder and muscles to where you can comfortably pull the weight with your elbow up aka proper form. Shoot straight! God bless.
Appreciate the info. I definitely have a long way to go and why I started the channel. I did switch from an index release to a button. I have contemplated buying a hinge to use in the offseason to work on things. I have been watching the elkshape channel a ton. I am trying to get better and I will get there.

Is it worth $350? No. It's your money so spend it how you please. But your title asked the question, so I offered an answer. Skills of grip, form, stance, release, distance estimation and follow through are all that are needed along with practice. Take $150 and go out to dinner with the family, bank the other $200 and call it a day because next year Shot Sense 2.0 will be out for the low, low price of $550.
Looks like the box is worth more than the item and no it’s not worth paying that much and get out there and shoot more you get better $350 for a doo hicky 😂😅😂

Yeah the matis x8 is like half the price dose the same thing and their is another I think it's called a1 but I paid like 250 Australian for the mantis when it was new.
@@FaithHunters-vf9rp I have been an archer/bowhunter for over 35 years and I think it's gotten so out of hand on the prices of archery equipment. Some new bows are almost 2k!? When machined risers first came out it was new technology and you expected higher costs , now it's the norm but instead of prices going down or just leveling out they have grown exponentially! Yea I know covid screwed everything up and made prices go up, but what now?? I'm sorry but the ceiling on a top bow should be around $800 a carbon $900. Sights for $600 for a pin sight!??? You really think it is worth it and makes you any better? Short answer is No!
