Maybe most of these short film was influenced by John Travolta to Mj's directors. I mean the Thriller was John Landis script. Even Joe Pytka in the way you make me feel. Definitely Mj was influenced by so many artists. He loves John Travolta in Grease. Thats why he is in liberian girl. BUT all Mjs dance steps became famous when he did it.. From James Brown to Fred Astaire to John Travolta..
MJ didn't copy or got inspired from Travolta, the Grease and Saturday night fever dance is disco dance style which was the "in" thing during that time.. It is just that those 2 movies have become famous era defining movies and hence we think it is taken from there...... Michael didn't take from Travolta or those 2 movies michael took from the 'disco' era moves.... Just see the kind of dance that used to be done on shows like 'soul train' of those times and you'll see that Travolta moves came from there..... In fact MJ got heavily inspired from a dancer from soul train show i think, Jeffrey Daniels or something his name is.. Michael supposedly called him to train him personally... If I remember correctly he even choreographed or helped MJ choreograph one of his music videos too.... MJ's the way you make me feel look was inspired by the look of magician David copperfield in one of his Vegas shows.... I think you can find a video of David's on RUclips...

Fun fact: Cuba Gooding Jr once mentioned in an interview that Michael intended to "Wanna Be Startin Somethin" to John Travolta. Not sure if it's a true story or not, though.
I didn't notice that he was also influenced by Travolta on dancing! Although I know that MJ admired Travolta's work on SNF. I only know that his main influences were Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, James Brown and Bob Fosse but thanks to this vid now I know he was also influenced a bit by Travolta
I said “hidden” because when asked who his influences were, he often named the same group of guys, but he never mentioned Travolta, who obviously was one of his major influences. I’ve been a fan for 30 years and never heard MJ even mention John. So it’s a hidden influence. Little-known.
I wouldn’t call this “hidden” influence from Grease/Saturday Night Fever themselves so much as the remnants of disco being the influence, an era which MJ was VERY much already a part of during his prime. He probably greatly admired Patricia Birch and Deney Terrio’s work in general. And just like MJ, Deney was heavily influenced by NY street dancing as well to inspire his moves.
I agree and disagree. Sure he was influenced by disco, but this video shows without a doubt, he used EXACT moves from this Grease and SNF that are very specific and iconic to Travolta. Some are even so non-mainstream, and unique, that there's no way he got it anywhere else.
@@RandySpeer But who did John Travolta learn those moves from? Street Dancers. Michael Jackson said he got inspired by street dances, I don’t think he learned it from watching Grease or John Travolta, he learned it from those street dancers.
Anyone who lived through the 70’ & 80’s couldn't help but be influenced by JT he was a legend then & still legendary today, my 13 yr old says she didn’t know who he was when we drove by his place here in Ocala which just about broke my heart so we had a JT move nite (binged watched almost every movie he ever made) & she’s just as in love 😻 as I am now lol
Since John isn't the original choreographer for grease and saturday night, Jojo Smith and Patricia Birch's and maybe Deney Terrio should be credited for this spectacular dance moves.
But Michael did it better tho. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Grease = salt and pepper Michael Jackson = garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, sazón, adobo, Italian season, old bay, basil, Tyme, dill, cayenne pepper, pink Himalayan salt etc etc 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
A man wearing bright red lipstick, tattooed eyeliner, tattooed hairline, tattooed eyebrows and women's wigs. Who's Jackson trying to be sexually attractive to?🤨
How Michael managed to become more popular even after copying? Ans. Good song, good voice, good background music, designer clothes, being more energetic than anyone else, good use of lights and colors, choosing the right locations.

Michael Jackson hit his stride in pop culture after Saturday Night Fever and after Grease, so it appears that MJ took some of his cues from John Travolta!! Interesting!
exact and jhon travolta did not invent any dance the movie was rather one of michael jackson's favorites the car and a girl in a parking lot is a classic
@@RandySpeer what I’m saying is that Michael was just doing all of the dance moves that he saw that was popular during his time as a child/teen. Yes it’s influence as well. It’s also like Chris brown too. He still does dance moves that was popular during his time as a child/teen. Many people don’t understand that all of those dances were popping during the 60s, 70s and 80s
@@theoppositionconsumer8916 Right, but I made sure not to include those on the video, and just show super specific signature Travolta moves from Grease. And MJ used all of these to the T. His timing was identical to John's in all the executions, which tells me, he practiced while watching the footage and through muscle memory, learned these exact moves.
Don't think that Travolta had choreographed those pieces and routines personally, he was a dancer. But anyways, the influence from Grease and Saturday Night Fever is there, but MJ said many times he got influenced by several artists like James Brown, Fred Astaire, Jackie Wilson, among many others. He then combined all of that, gave it his own style who none could've taught him and created something unique. In fact, when you see a performance by MJ you experience something completely different, you don't get the sense that it came from somewhere else, you just think that all you see is 100% MJ's own style.
How is it 100% his own style when the moves are blatantly the exact same?! It's as clear as day stop with the silly redundant excuses and lies to cover or make excuses for MJ.
CG WTF is your problem? These are not “excuses”. MJ was the best live performer and some of the best dancers ever. But most importantly he was probably the most unique one ever. Try to find any other performer who could come close, I’ll wait. I’m tired of people like you who just cannot accept that MJ was a huge talent. He composed music, wrote lyrics, produced, arranged, choreographed and danced. All of this like none else could. Get over it.

Michael Jackson fans have got the hashtag "MJInnocent" trending by either misinterpreting or misrepresenting a California court ruling on Monday. Judge Mark A. Young dismissed a lawsuit against Jackson’s companies and ruled that they were not legally obligated to protect boys from sexual abuse. The ruling does not address the late pop star's guilt or innocence. Wade Robson, who shared his allegations of abuse by Jackson in the 2019 documentary Leaving Neverland, claimed MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures facilitated the singer’s abuse of he and other boys. Young decided the companies were both wholly owned by Jackson when he was alive and therefore had no control over him. A lawyer for Robson said, in a statement, they will appeal the ruling because it sets “a dangerous precedent that would leave thousands of children working in the entertainment industry vulnerable to sexual abuse by persons in places of power.” Jonathan Steinsapir, a lawyer representing Jackson’s companies, called Robson’s lawsuit “frivolous.” In a statement, he said: “A judge has once again ruled that Robson’s claims have no merit whatsoever.” Last October, Young dismissed a similar lawsuit filed by James Safechuck, another alleged victim of Jackson’s sexual abuse who appeared in Leaving Neverland. The estate of Jackson, who died in 2009, has publicly denied all allegations of sexual abuse. Jackson was acquitted of molesting Gavin Arvizo after a 2005 trial, where prosecutors gave evidence that at least two other alleged victims had reached confidential settlements with the singer in the ‘90s. On Monday, his nephew Taj Jackson tweeted: “We’ve been ridiculed, vilified and marginalized. Yet we still stood strong and never wavered. We withstood all peer and public pressure, because we knew the truth. Armed with passion and the facts, we never backed down. All for MJ. I’m so proud of us.”

That’s not the point of the video though
Jackson has already been beaten. Moonwalkers are well practiced in denial.
I would've never thought. Then again, Grease was an amazing movie.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! MJ was really just a big little kid. Everybody out here taking him all super serious and he just playing out his favorite moves from a musical. LOLolol. It woulda been so cool to hang with MJ, laughs and giggles all the time!!!!
This Brings A Really Big Smile To My Face I Knew It Bigtime...Just Lastnight I Was Checkin Out Grease And I Was Saying To Myself That MJ Watched This Movie And Saturday Night Fever Awhole Lotta Times...Wow...This Is Just Amazing...One Love Fam...
This is awesome! Travolta must be so flattered 🙂
Wow. Never knew Michael was such a big Grease fan lol
Thank you
Yes so true, Michael and whoever instructed Travolta, they were influenced by the same dancers from the 70-ties, that'sonly it.
ELVIS IS THE KING
@@me7afonso793 the guy who never wrote a single song
@@me7afonso793 But then we would say MJ is the GOAT and the KING, yall get in your feelings, and start attacking MJ. You guys could appreciate your artists, but when it's Michael Jackson, getting the love and appreciation. Yall don't like that. And try to attack him for it. "Appreciate the artists until it's Michael Jackson", yall folks didn't want Michael to succeed in his craft, you guys wanted to take him down. Yall could show respect for everyone else, but when it's Michael Jackson, you guys think it's ok for yall to bring him down. Keep that same energy.
Fun fact: Cuba Gooding Jr once mentioned in an interview that Michael intended to "Wanna Be Startin Somethin" to John Travolta. Not sure if it's a true story or not, though.
The song was meant for LaToya but kept it for himself
I didn't notice that he was also influenced by Travolta on dancing! Although I know that MJ admired Travolta's work on SNF. I only know that his main influences were Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire, James Brown and Bob Fosse but thanks to this vid now I know he was also influenced a bit by Travolta
John Travolta could dance. Why wouldn't Michael Jackson copy his style. Then make it his own. Imitation the sincerest form of flattery.
@@fortelewisandrew2426 he was a actor not a dancer John learned his moves from others stop it lol
Wow, I never caught that. He's a Grease fan like I am.
It's not "hidden", he made it obvious, because he liked to pay tribute to great art/artist.
I said “hidden” because when asked who his influences were, he often named the same group of guys, but he never mentioned Travolta, who obviously was one of his major influences. I’ve been a fan for 30 years and never heard MJ even mention John. So it’s a hidden influence. Little-known.
He learnt from the greats and became greater. Period.
@@stellajackson5344 and John was an actor not a dancer they tell him the dance he should do

Michael Jackson legend❤️💕
Anyone who lived through the 70’ & 80’s couldn't help but be influenced by JT he was a legend then & still legendary today, my 13 yr old says she didn’t know who he was when we drove by his place here in Ocala which just about broke my heart so we had a JT move nite (binged watched almost every movie he ever made) & she’s just as in love 😻 as I am now lol
That's crazy! I'm in Ocala as well!
I knew it. Glad theres a video out there. I came to the same conclusion watching grease long time ago
Since John isn't the original choreographer for grease and saturday night,
Jojo Smith and Patricia Birch's and maybe Deney Terrio should be credited for this spectacular dance moves.
But Michael did it better tho. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Grease = salt and pepper
Michael Jackson = garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, sazón, adobo, Italian season, old bay, basil, Tyme, dill, cayenne pepper, pink Himalayan salt etc etc 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Study the great and become greater. That's His saying. For me He study the great to become legend.
He did it smoother than others
MJ took these dance moves and made them sexier than Elvis way he made it into a sexy way to make you fall out
A man wearing bright red lipstick, tattooed eyeliner, tattooed hairline, tattooed eyebrows and women's wigs. Who's Jackson trying to be sexually attractive to?🤨
Michael and John!! Wonderful!! Grease is my favorite musical and Moonwalker my favorite music video!!!!
Of you’re going to be influenced, it might as well be by the greatest stars. He made their moves his own. The video is super.
Oh my Good!! I've watched Grease and never realised the similarities 😱😱
Ele se inspirou em quem deveria... perfeito! JT & MJ são top!
Thanks for this video 🤩😍👌🏼
Michael got inspired by a handful....
And in return...
He inspired *BILLIONS*
Don't get carried away. Not everyone in the world is a Jackson fanatic.
How Michael managed to become more popular even after copying?
Ans. Good song, good voice, good background music, designer clothes, being more energetic than anyone else, good use of lights and colors, choosing the right locations.
I know this. I love u MJ sir
MJ is always Original🔥
*See video above
Mj was not influenced by John travolta he was inspired by Danny zucco, huge difference
Only & Only our Michael is Best .👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Nobody can be Like him
Im so much of a mj FAN win i Frist seen the moive Gress i new where micheal borrow some moves mj just made it look better he's a real Pioneer when it comes to dancing embarrass from everybody even from the Great's and make it his own style' ...thats how he became a hellava DANCER .....i still haven't seen his smooth style of dancing yet" ..🕴🎩🕶🎼🎤🎶🖐✌🙏💯
When i look at it now, it look like mj wanted to look like him too😳 and i love mj
OMG I KNEW IT I was watching Grease and was like "where have I seen this step from" how did I not recognize Michael did it himself! Idk who did it first but I think both the directors/writers of Grease and MJ were influenced by other people making their moves a masterpiece Michael did it better tho
Love you michael❤
That's art for you. Take inspiration, then make it your own.
Michael Jackson hit his stride in pop culture after Saturday Night Fever and after Grease, so it appears that MJ took some of his cues from John Travolta!! Interesting!
Ohhhh Michael 😍😍😍😍😚😘
Wow michael siempre presente en todo👑
The problem is, Travolta did those moves in a stiff clumsy manner, compared to Mike.
exact and jhon travolta did not invent any dance the movie was rather one of michael jackson's favorites the car and a girl in a parking lot is a classic
Brill two of my favourite influences 🕺💃🏽
Did you forget that Michael Jackson grew up in the 70s too? 💀
I'm not sure what you're getting at.
Ohh okay I see what you did now😅
I can't front. I see it. He must have really loved that movie.
@@mrpussinboots4252 why you hate him? its not his fault if you were made without any talent
@@mrpussinboots4252 STFU Michael made it his style.
@@ife56 It wasnt his style to have, he borrowed it.
This actually makes sense
The Michael Jackson videos are 11 years and the John Travolta videos are 8 years. Michael Jackson hasn't copied, Mike is amazing. Mike always said, "I perfect my dance steps" and "I saw some kids dance and I loved their dance steps, I told them to teach me and they did, I just perfected what I learned. Michael is amazing! 😎👏
A Travolta copycat
Loved this !!
MJ just understood the assignment....Grease was/is legendary.
wasn't the man in grease also in liberian girl?
lol. Yes. That's John Travolta. He's an A-List celebrity.
Nice, you caught more than I did. There is a Heart Break Hotel (This Place Hotel) live dance move in Greece as well.
Grease*
O que vale a pena mesmo é se inspirar em Jesus Cristo. Isso fica para sempre.
Wow, you do have a point! Never noticed that!
HIDDEN INFLUENCE???NOT AT ALL, MJJ OPENLY SPOKE ON HOW HIS DANCES WERE NOT ORIGINAL AND THAT HE WAS INFLUENCED BY OTHER ARTISTS... JAMES BROWN, STREET DANCERS, WEREWOLF IN LONDON(which sparked, "THRILLER"), ETC...ARTISTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INFLUENCED BY OTHER ARTISTs..THATS HOW YOU KEEP THE FLAME IGNITED
But he never mentioned to John Travolta. That's the entire point.
I would watch Grease and say Michael must love Grease. Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the simular dance moves
I think that's why Michael got that dimple on his chin too..
I think the same
It really is embarrassing.
Mj's mother Katherine has cleft chin. He wants to look more like his mother than his father who keeps on mocking him he is ugly..
Mj stayed with his parents for a long time. Even after Janet and all his siblings left. Mj stayed for his mother. Imagine those years he is also with his father? Mocking his nose and telling he is ugly.
Too painful to even think about..
Al we know is that all of us were influenced by the same people, but MJ absorbed and transformed what he learnt better than all of us.
like travolta was influenced by elvis presley..
👌 wow that's amazing,, what a talent for actually spotting that 👏
Michael Jackson fans have got the hashtag "MJInnocent" trending by either misinterpreting or misrepresenting a California court ruling on Monday.
A lawyer for Robson said, in a statement, they will appeal the ruling because it sets “a dangerous precedent that would leave thousands of children working in the entertainment industry vulnerable to sexual abuse by persons in places of power.”
Jonathan Steinsapir, a lawyer representing Jackson’s companies, called Robson’s lawsuit “frivolous.” In a statement, he said: “A judge has once again ruled that Robson’s claims have no merit whatsoever.”
Last October, Young dismissed a similar lawsuit filed by James Safechuck, another alleged victim of Jackson’s sexual abuse who appeared in Leaving Neverland.
Wow, this is weird. I can't believe how close those moves are. Cool.
Wow. Beautiful
In his defense, Grease was a sensational movie to bite off 🎥
Him and john were great friends and dance together
do people realize how hard it is to create original moves? its super difficult because if you did it then some other dancer probably did it before you
