  • Here are some highlights of the flash flooding in Pigeon Forge Tennessee from July 28, 2024. We got so much rain during this flash flood it closed down Dollywood Theme Park which we show some highlights of. We also go to The Old Mill in Pigeon Forge Tennessee as well to see how bad the Pigeon Forge flooding was on this particular day. Thankfully only 1 minor injury reported. Great work by Pigeon Forge Police & Fire Departments as well as the Dollywood Hosts!

Flash flooding is a serious threat to the safety of the public. Whenever flash flooding occurs, remember “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.” Whether you’re driving down a flooded roadway or walking down a sidewalk or trail, do not attempt to enter flood waters. The water can be moving much swifter than you can imagine and can powerfully sweep your car off a roadway or your feet out from under you. So thankful that this situation was managed without any serious injuries. Thanks for your reporting.

It’s the Smokey Mountains. It’s going to flash flood in the summer no matter what you build or do not build. There’s only so many avenues for water to retreat when you get down into these low places. Go up the road a little ways to Cherokee and Maggie Valley where it’s not remotely this level of development. Still floods. Flash flooding is a part of life in this region.

Maybe it was a bad idea to chop the tops off the mountains to built all the cabins and pave every bit of Gatlinburg. There is no where for the rain to soak in. They messed with the pigeon river basin so much this is what happens. So sad.

I went to Dollywood the very next day. I couldn’t tell that there was a major flash flood throughout the park other than the fact it opened at noon. The park staff must’ve very quickly cleaned up the mess the storm caused. Had a very good day at the park and managed to ride all the coasters with the exception of Blazing Fury. Lightening Rod had little wait so I rode it 4 times in a row
