The scenery at Cradle mountain is like something out of Lord Of The Rings! This has been an epic journey to follow and I've really enjoyed it. I didn't know Tasmania was so cold tho.
Tasmania is unlike the rest of Australia. The spectacular scenery is more compacted into a small area. It is apparently more like New Zealand than Australia. So yeah, where Lord Of The Rings was filmed. It is cold, I arrived in the last days of summer to snow in the mountains and the coldest ride ove ever had! 🤣 Thanks mate, glad you've enjoyed the series so far!
WOWZERS... what incredible views 🙂 Them wombats were super cute, def better seeing them out in the wilds than squashed at the side of the road. "A Town Called Penguin" sounds like the name of a movie! 😀
The photos from the air of the mountains and lakes there are unbelievable. It's not often you see living wombats in the wild. Sounds more like a Jam song! But yeah, great movie title!
Yeah for the most part, you cannot see the walking track around the lake at all. It is really well done. HaHa! Not slippery if you're watching where you're walking! I had 2 trips actually due to looking at the scenery too much! Wombats are awesome when they aren't on the road!
Wow! That was just ridiculously scenic!! Must have been a decent enough walk all the way around the lake. But how good that the weather was like it was!! You were on one of only 65 days when it wasn't gonna rain that year! It's a real eye-opener to see how much life, from massive to minute, is in a cold climate rain-forest! I had no idea, sort of thought that all belonged in at least Sub-Tropical. Reckon those roads are dangerous... as it would be near impossible to keep your eye on them, haha! Great stuff mate.
Yeah it is a 6km loop around the lake, but then I did a few more kms on another trail at the end. The scenery is mind blowing. When you look at aerial photos, it is just incredible! Some people go there many times and never get to see the mountain. I was so grateful the weather cleared after a few days of rain. It's almost an alpine climate I guess. Sub alpine? I've seen minute detail like that in the Snowy Mountains too. Yeah, it is hard to focus on the roads when the views are incredible. I was riding pretty slow most times to take it in. Thanks mate.
I've never actually explored Cradle Mountain. We've ridden to the car park a few times but never taken the time to really check it out. Makes me think I need to do it
Ha, I've binge watched your entire Tasmanian adventure today as I'm planning a trip to Tassie on my V-Strom 1050XT. I wondered why it stopped at episode 16? You can imaging my surprise and delight, when after dinner, your freshly uploaded 17th episode pops up on my home page! I noticed there are no 1050s at your V-Strom get-together? What are your thoughts on the 1050, and do you think it suitable for such a trip? Looking forward to the next instalment of your epic Tasmanian Adventure!
HaHa! That's awesome! Thanks for watching, glad you're enjoying it. I'm not very consistent with the uploads as it just depends on how much time I have for editing. This trip was 2020 and the 1050 had either just been released or not quite at that time. I think they're a great bike for touring. Check out @laviandollie on RUclips. They're touring the world on theirs.
Great series and excellent content coverage you have provided, so good in fact we are using your information as a template for our trip to Tasmania in February next year except it will be in the car.

@@steventhomson8387 That sounds like an awesome route to me! I'm still gutted that I didn't get up to Jacob's Ladder. Missed it due to the weather. In the same area and a similar drive is Mount Barrow.
Oh, we also visited Cradle Mt. Or rather, the self serve fuel station at the car park. Some dopey rider didn’t estimate his fuel usage correctly so had to pull in for a splash and dash. Next time I’ll do better, I promise.
@@MrAusadventure The name is familiar. Not sure. One guy with whom I rode and drank is from Korrumburra. Milk tanker driver. Sorry if you're reading this but I forget the name. So sad. Amazing walk. I like the way they've created a walking route that doesn't spoil the scenery. Maybe a bit slippery though 😀
Love the wombats!

Tassie is great on a bike!
It certainly is! So good! 👍
Another full day. I went up to Cradle Mount 5 time before the clouds let me see the actual mountain, so you did very well 👍🏼
I've heard similar stories so I was grateful the weather cleared in time for my visit. 😁

It was one of those things I would have been really disappointed if I hadn't been able to do it. I was so grateful for a sunny day!

HaHa! Bugger! I had a fuel moment the day before and missed out on seeing Liffey Falls due to worrying that I'd run out if I took that detour.
80,000 km! How many does the bike have now? And who was that fellow ‘Strommer at Penguin CP?
It has 123,000km on it now.
Ray Jones it was. Pretty sure he's from Gippsland too?
