  • Day 11 in Tassie - Huon Valley To Bruny Island To Mole Creek.
On my 11th day in Tasmania, I ride through the Huon Valley and over the hills to get the ferry to the scenic Bruny Island. Unfortunately the weather then got wild, forcing me to retreat and ride across almost the entire length of Tasmania in search of sunshine and warmth.

In late February 2020 (only a week or so before Covid border closures and travel restrictions) we set off on Suzuki V-Stroms for a 3 week motorbike trip from South East Queensland to Tasmania and back. The reason for the trip was to meet fellow V-Strom owners from all over Australia in the Apple Isle and have some adventures. Lots of adventures! I rode 8000km on this 3 week trip, roughly 5000 getting to Tassie and back and 3000 on the island over 13 days there. Grinning with joy the whole time!

Wow mate you sure did pack a heap in a day 😎👏🏻👏🏻

It certainly was a massive day! But then, so were all the days in Tassie really. I can't remember what time I left the caravan park at Huonville, but it was pretty early. And it was dark when I rode back to camp at Mole Creek after the pub that night.

That thin strip is very similar to a place near me called Spurn Head. There was a storm surge a few years ago and the whole thing moved. It's been much harder to visit since.
It did look like you had our weather too 😀

That was well worth it mate, glad you didn't change your mind and leave it out.
Gee that Barista on the DR was a bit serious - but the girl at the ferry was smitten with you - it was...
    "Glove at First Sight" 😆

I was glad too. It was very rushed and made for a massive day but worth it.
I was wondering if anyone would pick up on his mood. He was not at all talkative! He didn't look very stable on the bike either in my footage.
I could also see in the footage that she seemed very interested in me but I thought it was the bike she was keen on. Just like my glove, I don't think I had a hand in it. 🤣

I really enjoy the ride around the Great Lake and to Deloraine - also like the cool little shacks that surround the lake in places. Couldn't help but grin at the location at 13:17 as I have a picture of my bike (a yellow and black K5 gixxa 1000) at that spot as my Windows background

Yeah me too. I enjoyed the ride so much! The first part of the ride up the guts of Tassie was a bit dull, but once I turned left and headed up there the riding was awesome all the way into Mole Creek for the night. If I didn't have to try and push on, I would have stopped so many times for photos. Sometimes on the trip I only got around one more corner and I was stopping again for a photo! HaHa!

You certainly found the best riding roads around the Mole Creek area.😀

It was an awesome ride! As was the following morning riding from Mole Creek to Cradle Mountain.

Another great vid. Little did they know what lay ahead for them. No more booked out accommodation for sometime after that.

Am guessing Tas is around the same distance south of the Equator as the UK is north, it looks as wet! 😀
What an amazing coastal explore, the spit looked amazing, as did Adventure Bay.
I'm not sure what it is that has always drawn me to the water, I feel like the sea is in my blood even if I no longer sail... no matter where in the world it is, I am fascinated by the coast.

HaHa! No, although Tasmania is pretty cold, it is still a lot closer to the Equator than the UK is! 1000 miles closer in fact!
It is a beautiful place. I do love the bush and mountains but I would definitely miss the ocean if I moved away from it.
      Thanks for watching mate!
