- Armidale to Mount Kaputar - This is Day 2 of an awesome 5 day trip away to Coonabarabran on the V-Strom. On this 2nd leg, Captain Cranky, Paul and myself hit the back roads west of Armidale in NSW. We rode some great dirt roads as we made our way over towards Narribri where we then wound our way up almost 1500m above sea level to camp in the spectacular Mount Kaputar National Park.
The reason for the trip was an Australian Backroads Motorcycle Touring group meetup in Coonabarabran.

Great video thank you .. yes there is some of the best adventure riding to be had out in the western country. Stay Safe.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! There certainly are heaps of great roads crossing the state out there. I need to get out that way and explore a bit more.
Good thing Cap'n Cranky has you along as his "riding spouse" to keep him in line 😂. Helmet, backpack, meds.
HaHa! Someone has to keep him under control. He's a wild man!
Enjoyed your vid Bill. What a great days ride...
Thanks Tony. It was an awesome day of riding that's for sure.
Enjoyed the video mate! Stay upright 🙂
Thanks mate, you too!
Commented on this last night... it didn't take :(
I was grinning the whole way through this, we really do have a lot of fun touring together mate!
That was one huge day. I see now what you meant when you said you nearly lost the front a few times on the last, long dirt section! Looked like the steering was light - maybe a bit too much weight behind - weird though, never seen you get that like that before!
Brill video, you got some great footage and the 360 stuff looks cool.
I was wondering why you hadn't commented!
It certainly was an awesome day! I was smiling heaps whilst editing it. Yeah, probably a case of too much weight on the back, but also I think these tyres aren't as good in the loose stuff as the E07's were on the bike. Also I think the front is not quite right after I bent the left fork in Tassie. I even get slight wobbles when not loaded too. Yeah, the 360 is a pain to edit but adds some great elements to the videos.
what bike would you think is good ktm adventure 890 or tiger 900 i am tossing up between these 2
I haven't ridden either bike so I can't say I have a definite opinion, but if I had to choose one, it would probably be the Tiger. But it depends on what you want it for. The KTM looks more dirt friendly than the Triumph, but the Tiger would probably be better for touring.
@@MrAusadventure same type of things you are doing and go on long rides
Why not check out the new V-Strom 800DE and the newer RE coming early '24. I still can't go past the Suzuki V-strom 650, enough power and usability as what you see here and no where near as heavy as the KTM or Tiger. The 650 Strom carries a lot of camping gear.
@@davidjohnston1374 yeah have look into the v storm for what it can do
