I knew you would get another picture of it in the live version. This is first and foremost a live band, and they do always have that in mind when producing their music. Gåte have been one of Norways best live bands the last 22 years. Check them up when you get time. ‘Svarteboka’ is one of their last music videos, but there is a lot of good live performances as well. And some terrible private mobile uploads with phase and clipping avoiding issues (or whatever is happening when recording loud sounds with the phone). I love your live reaction. I almost totally agree with your opinions 👍 I believe they need a bigger scene to solve all your concerns.
As a Norwegian knowing Gåte I knew they would be good, but the live performance and the staging just elevated this so far above the other artists. I still haven't seen any other qualified song so far that can beat them.
My only issue with the performance is that the platform was spinning too much and too early. It works at the part where the cameraman follows her and at the end where she does the posing and big note, but early on when it spins, she has her back turned to the camera for a long time and it doesn't look super good. But besides that, insanely good performance and song! My MGP winner AND currently my ESC 2024 winner~
well, that did not distract me as this can me all tweaked by a little bit different camera or artist position. Still, come on, we are talking about live tv show, insane
This song was off my radar until I saw this live performance. It was suddenly moved to the top of my list. I think it is a masterpiece and so unlike the other stuff Norway has been sending. It is in a league all its own imo. Of course, I hope it wins the final. As for the production, which was near perfect, I don't know, but if they had zeroed in on the singer, one might have lost some of the grandeur of the whole scene which included the other musicians. Not sure. Interesting comments! Thanks.
hei, Norge in the house.. it has been a while since I commented. I saw the semifinal live and I agree, it was soooo much better than the high school stage of the first semi. My only problem is that we have a tendency to send 'Saga' like songs to ESC ( Queen of the Kings and Keiino) , Good results from the televotes but not from the juries. I hope they keep the song in Norwegian!! ( Mother tongue fan). I hoped that Mileo could have gone to the final but he was in the wrong semi. Hilsen fra Norge!
Totally agree with what you said about the camera work. It's already good, but I think very small tweaks can elevate the performance even further, which would be awesome!
I agree about your comment about the visuals. More shots that are focused intimately on the singer. Maybe a little more light on her to make the shots clear. She have some moves of bending backwards that should be shown as good as possible. Also a few more shots on the activities of the musicians would be great. Wish the song could be longer to have more time for closeup shots.
I thoroughly detested this song going into the SF. And then they performed, and I was mesmerized. Is it the best choice for Eurovision? I'm not so sure. But that performance caused an about face in my thoughts about the song itself.
Hi, I am Norwegian 🇧🇻 The singing in the beginning of the song and the chorus is "kulokk", tradditionally how they called the cows to them in the contryside. The text is telling a 1000 year old folklore story about an evil stepmother cursing her stepdaugter to be a wolf alone in the forrest. And the only way she can break the curse is to drink her brothers blood. In the end she sees her stepmother in the forrest so she attacks and eats her. Turns out her stepmother was pregnant, leading her to drink her brothers blood and breaks the curse. I love metal rock, and this is folkrock. I am not sure if they will stand a chance in Eurovision since this is not a typical "eurovision" song. What do you guys think?
typical eurovision song is the one which won in Spain as it aims the stereotype of Eurovision. You can say nowadays any rip-off of fuego is typical by the fact countries want to succeed without creativity and than you have Gåte who want to succeed with their music. Ofc this is a better solution and they are aiming for top10 result for sure. They will be liked by juries and also public will have a say. No worries about them :)
The performance of Gåte was top. No surprise there, They are a crazy good live band. But I have to agree that the choices of the TV-production and staging could lift this even higher. It was to chaotic and distant.
As we say here on nisseberget, old Norway…just w o w……that song was kinda anonymous from the studio production…but just woooow…it blew me TOTALLY away breathless tonight…Subwoolfer,Tix….forget them…that was……I have no words to describe it…weve missed a scene performance for so many years…what a voice, what a stormy set on the scene…those pictures…everything…just…do we have a tiny small chance to W I N EUROVOSION this year…15 years since Rybak-Fairytale….OSLO25?????????????????????????????
For me, this wasn't really what I was hoping for from Gåte. I wish the song was so much better. And the staging is chaotic. If they end up winning, Norways Q streak will end, but at this point I'm wondering if that might happen regardless of what wins. Excited to see MIIA and KEiiNO next week though.
This will EASILY qualify if it wins for Norway. However, I find it strange that for Norways best LIVE band they choose to cut to pre-recorded images of forest and mountains. Keep the focus on the band and the singer. With that said, this is EASILY top 10 Eurovision. Norway will qualify, no question, with this.
@@atlesandhals1890 The backing vocals really showed that the live wasn't great. The staging was super chaotic, and trying to be special with the overlays which was way too much. The jurors will not vote for this, and if they qualify it would be borderline. No top 10 lol
This would absolutely qualify if it goes to Eurovision@@lillecathrine Also, there's no jury for the qualifying stage in Eurovision (only if televoting systems go down). I do think they can improve the staging, but it's already the best song yet.
idk, imo it was aaaalmost perfect, what more would you like to see, them flying for real? For me this is a masterpiece television fusion with music. Like whole Heat 2 was one great experience
It's giving me the same winner vibes as Nocturne! Her voice, the staging, the folk tones! Dying for it!
Wow! Winner vibes
Gåte ❤❤❤ love them , a fabulous live band ❤
This I look forward too!! Gåte! ❤
Yes Gåte❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Wow the winner ❤❤❤

yep, thats why I always try to add - listen carefully, studio version and live tv version are two completely different things
Thank you king for presenting the points from the Czech jury, which were well-distributed. If not, we would not have Gåte win!
🙏🙏❤️

there are many good songs, Italy, Ukrane, Latvia. It will be after all very interesting who will score better :)
Very cool reaction, and appreciate your interest in the visual and video editing etc!
its my job, thats why I like it :) thx for nice words :)

If we dont send this to eurovision ill riot!!
let's wait the last heat and the finals. But it was rly good!
we have a say: "Dont judge the a night before the evening."
I agree 100 % with you!

thx for sharing ❤️
Really hope the lyric change doesnt screw their chances. I want to see them in Malmo. I think it is beautiful!
do you think lyrics can change the feeling from the song? Probably only in Norway. Either way, you have several strong candidates this year.

It was a bit pitty to see anyone in the semi not to pass trough as all the acts had a big quality

as you say, small tweaks before perfection

for sure its an amazing performance, whether you count Eurovision or not, so the answer is probably yes, it would perform well also there

it was amazing but small things can even elevate this to the sky imo

you have many good choices as usual, lets see who will represent this year :)
Gåte - mic drop
winner
well, it doesnt sound like go_a at all but their quality is there for sure 🙏
Gåte will win for sure. Gåte is NOT a metal band, but folk-rock.
folk-rock, nu-metal with a folk accent... it really does not matter nowadays where everyone is fusinf everything

Alternativene er joike-aqua og kan-ikke-synge-rent-aqua.
