The fact that it was only a 5 point difference between them and KEiiNO, makes me so happy they decided to make the vote 60% televote! And, why an international jury? It's not like there are no music professionals in Norway, and you're literally letting your (future) rivals pick your song...
6* points, and yeah, if it was 50/50 like last year, KEiiNO would have won instead. The point of the international jury was to see what Europe liked. I do think the jury was too dominated by our Nordic neighbours. There were no juries from Southern Europe.
The point of an international jury is to see if it has pan European appeal. Since Norwegians cannot vote for their entry, it is a good indicator of how it will actually score
Great choice for Norway. This stands out so much and the staging is so good. Hopefully they'll project those images of Norway on stage in Malmö, it feels really epic. And in Norwegian! 👏
This song supposed to be very very hard to sing - Basically she is flatten it all out and let the voice being left on teh stage. The interview after the show she was all pumped. Ye, my absolutely favourite this year
The "big notes" is actually a 'cow-lure' (kulokk in norwegian, kulning in swedish). It was used by the farm-women on the mountain-farms to tell the cattle its time to come back down from the mountains and into the farm. Found the original on youtube (a recording from an old woman done 70 yrs ago). They are very true to the original; very similar.
Roy, I was ready to come crying to your channel in case Keiino would've won but THANK GOD it didn't happen! I'm SO happy Norway did the right choice ❤❤❤. Gåte is definitely my Eurovision winner this year.
Hi, I am Norwegian 🇧🇻 The text is telling a 1000 year old folklore story about an evil stepmother cursing her stepdaugter to be a wolf alone in the forrest. And the only way she can break the curse is to drink her brothers blood. In the end she sees her stepmother in the forrest so she attacks and eats her. Turns out her stepmother was pregnant, leading her to drink her brothers blood and breaks the curse. So your interpretation of the staging is spot on.
Thanks Roy - I so miss Matt’s weekly roundup that you used to contribute to - I know he has other priorities but just want to acknowledge that he is missed during these NFS times.
I’m happy we’re sending Gaate. KEiiNO delivered well, I like the song live, but it’s strange that they won the jury vote. This year the public vote counted 60%, if we had 50-50 split like last year KEiiNO would have won by 4 points.
Quite strange that Norway changed it to 60-40 since Eurovision is 50-50 in the final and 100% televote in the semi that Norway needs to to through. That said, both Gåte and Keiino would qualify and get a good result in the final.
@@ElfDravenBecause there’s always angry people afterwards saying the public should have the final word. Now that they have, the same people rage over the very rule they initially wanted!😅
@@ElfDravenI think it's the most fair system. The juries are not powerless, but not too powerful either. Considering the semi finals are 100% televote, it makes sense that the televote in MGP should have more sway.
As a rock and folk lover, this wasn't the best song of the night! I have no idea how this will do in Malmo looking at how badly the rock songs last year did with the televote and songs with a folk twist like France 2022 did!
@@mar97216 if it was their best song it would have went to eurovison...most of youtubers says it misses sth and i agree with them...spirit of the sky was their best!
@@peacefulminimalist2028 Go and listen to the semifinal performance for instance, and compare it to the studio version. It's easy to hear that she doesn't handle the last seconds well in the live version.
Meh - This won because it stood out with her vocal abilities but truth is that there were no great songs in the Norwegian final this year Positives: The sound of the key harp and the norwegian language in the verses but then everything else falls apart
There were great songs but no winning songs this year like I felt last year. There were many good but not top 1-3 material. The final actually had several really good singers on, but this is more of a unique song. With that being said, it’s really not my thing and this wasn’t my vote, but it is what it is. I still hope we can do good though.
The epic awesomeness of Gåte ♥
It most certainly is!!

The cracks in her voice is the sharm of it❤❤
Definitely, but that final note should be hit well enough imo!

It's ok to miss a note when it is because you are singing your heart out ❤
So so happy this won AAAAAA!
btw Roy the revamp is more just of a rewrite of the lyrics
I am happy that this won!

Norway made the right choice with Gåte 🔥
I absolutely agree!!

This is gonna be a dark horse. Mark my words. It's criminally underrated by the betting odds.😤

KEiiNO seemed to me to be bland and uninspired, and would probably just be "yet another eurovision song"
exactly...tix was better in2021 and gåte were better this yearl

She just needs to tighten up the last couple of notes.
Definitely!
Would'nt say she does it on purpose, but I suspects she just 'lets them' brake.
It's rock'n roll after all....

Yeah, the final notes have been off all three times so far. Maybe she just loses power - can’t blame her. But very interesting song.
