I have found all of your videos EXTREMELY helpful, I was wondering if you could please make a video of you actually putting the vivarium together and letting us know where you purchased everything. I have not been able to find a video like this anywhere and I really like your setup! Thanks so much
i live in colorado which can get pretty cold at night during winter when i got my veiled chameleon. but he powers on through so low temps should be ight at night
This video helped me with mine! I did A LOT of research before I watched the vid. but I like your methods better than most care sheets! I've had my veiled for about 7 months and he's doing really well! But I learned some from the video! Thanks!
according to joshsfrogs.com: "The newer Monsoons do not have this problem. Exo Terra fixed it be venting the electronics housing - previously condensation buildup would fry the electronics." i don't know if i should still risk buying one... i could probably just silicone all the seams so no condensation gets into the electronics. or separate the electronics hood from the reservoir entirely somehow...
Hi - We just got a juvenile veiled chameleon. The store recommended a new habitat made by National Geographic. It's mostly glass with screen top and a 6" screen area from top to bottom on one of the sides. It has a spot on opposite side to allow ventilation. It's 16x16x24 which I realize will be too small for her when she grows. I am concerned about getting a screen habitat as we have cats and we don't have a room where my baby, Carmen can be isolated. Do you know of any screen habitats that are very sturdy with strong mesh/screen? Thank you very much!
Carrie Bilan You can find some online either custom made by people or zoomed makes a pretty sturdy tank as well. I wouldn't worry with the cat it shouldn't be able to affect the cage it self
Great video! Helped a lot with my spontaneous buy of a veiled at the National Reptiles Breeders Expo this past weekend. I knew enough about them from previous research to get him setup, but this video helped me tweak his environment a bit. I think he's happy :)
The only thing I feel like should change is the coil uvb bulb. You should get a 5.0 ReptiSun UVB strip light from zoomed. Everyone has had great success with it. But besides that great job man. But here's a tip, if you're worried about over supplementing or just tired of having to remember a dusting schedule, use the Repashy super foods CALCIUM PLUS vitamin and calcium supplement. You use it at every feeding and never have to worry about a thing. Got the tip from kammerflage Kreations, they use it on their chams and I've been using it since I got my baby from them. Works perfectly so far.
I have a female in a glass hexagon glass 75 gallon tank and she has NEVER gotten sick from "stagnant air" and it was WAYYYYY cheaper then a mess cage. A chameleon doesn't always need a mess cage idc what anyone else says as long as you keep it moist and clean your fine
Hey, I feel like a real jerk and I feel badly because, my veiled chameleon had his tail outside the door of his cage when I was feeding him and I accidently closed the door on his little tail and I don't know what to do his tail was brown but now green again, but there is still an indent where the door smashed his tail he can still move it but he is very aggressive and I don't know what to do. I need advice on what can I do to gain back his trust, please help.
Although I do mist my chameleons cage, I do use the little dripper thing and a fairly shallow bowl that the water drips into of the plants and he seems to like drinking from the bowl so I think I'm very lucky...thanks for the vid it really helped
Hello! Your vid's have been really helpful - we recently purchased our first veiled cham, Buddha, who's been wonderful so far. He actually drinks from a dish at the bottom of his cage & also hits water droplets out of the air! So cool... thanks for the tip on the waterfall tho, definitely won't be doing that. Any recommendations on plant / fruit treats for veiled cams? Good luck with all your critters!
How do you keep your chameleons veil from burning at the tip?my chameleon tends to stat at the very top of his cage were his veil is touching the very top. It has caused his veil to get flat at the tip!
I'm gettig seriously worried. I purchased my chameleon and the lady convinced me that a glass cage was the absolute best thing for him and everyone else is saying otherwise. I know that when he grows I'll need a bigger cage so then I could get a screen but for right now would glass be alright? I dont wanna take any chances.
Mike Tytula its a terrarium, so it has bottom-to-top air ventilation with vents at the bottom and screen at the top so it gets good air flow, but I'm just not 100% sure. And what should I feed him when hes a smaller baby
I've somehow managed to become obsessed with veiled chameleons as of late, and have been watching numerous videos about their care, and setups. I've never owned a reptile before, and wonder if a veiled would make for a great first reptile. Also, how often have you been bitten by your chameleon? They seem to be rather aggressive at times, and wonder how you deal with that. Thanks
I would recommend reading artic les as well, as books, because youtube isn't always the best place for info. I recommend looking at the chameleon forums! and i have never been bitten haha. I'm just careful
Chameleons are the BEST!!! definitely the loveliest reptile i've owned. I've never been bitten by any of my reptiles & it'd be hard for me to believe anyone who'd say a chameleon bit them. mine used to lick the tears off of my face if i were crying, it was cute when it happened though it didn't happen a lot. lol. i could seriously go on forever about how fantastic chameleons are, but i'll stop. good luck! :)
how much for the cages ? i always wanted one of these. and the cost of these lizards? i had a lizard in glass and never had any problems with disease or them getting sick.
I set up my home made dripper and my cham seems to be afraid of it. The droplets are collecting on the leaves and I havent seen him drink off them. Although I noticed if I just use a spray bottle he sometimes will drink off the leaves but he seems to prefer drinking the droplets that have collected on the ceiling of my cage. Is this normal?
I had a panther chameleon and he was just like Rango. He would sit at the bottom of his cage until i opened it so he could climb on me. I never put anything at the bottom of his cage because i didnt know if it was okay for him to ingest. What would be the best?
I live in nh and my apartment has old windows which makes it hard to keep it warm and it can be drafty i had a veiled chameleon and it got sick due from it being drafty but it was near a door so the shop owner told me that could've been it I just got another one and moved the cage to a better more secure spot I have a repti breeze screen cage in extra large and a draecana plant along with fake plants. I covered three sides of the cage with shower liner my temps besides his basking spot is around 70 degrees and his basking is 85-90 i use a 160 watt uvb/uva basking bulb I just want to know if thats okay for him, I know that they dont need such a wattage for heat but his cage would 60 degrees and his basking was only 80 so do you have any tips for me to keep him comfortable and healthy?
I just got a veiled chameleon and at the reptile show he was light green, and the past few days he's been basically only brown. Is it just him getting used to his habitat? Or just him basking? Thanks a lot - Conner
Mike I have a adult size cage and a baby chameleon is gonna be here soon. i was wondering how I could section off part of my cage because I would not like a stressed out chameleon and all animals need to be treated very well. I hope you read this and Thank you for all the care videos please reply.😀
I want to get a chameleon, but the biggest thing is, what is MOST crucial for the to live. I have done research ( a lot ) about them, but I want someone live with tips/advice
There isn't really anything crucial, what is crucial is that you provide proper care with all the proper things to have. What kind of tips are you looking for?
For ex. does it have to have natural sunlight or are normal bulbs and uv rays sufficient from bulb, or cleaning its cage. It would be more benefitial for me to have a real person to interact with than just a guide about it. Hope I make sense :/
syzdykov ruslan Ya that totally makes sense, and ya cage cleaning you should keep up on they can get respitory infections pretty easily. I let mine get mostly uvb rays from bulbs but when it's nice out sometimes I bring them to hang out for a bit
How about youth care video ?? Mine is eating a lot crickets 17 crickets today actually idk if they are to small for him that's why he is hungry so much and that's 2 feeding once morning and in evening
I'm thinking about getting a baby Jacksons chameleon is it pretty much the same care for them as it is for the veiled? At the moment I have the medium sized repibreeze set up with a ficus plant some some fake plants set up and some horizontal sticks climbing up and down, for the lights I have a 5.0 uvb and uva and a zoomed daylight blue 60w heat bulb, any suggestions on my setup?
Hi I am wanting to get a veiled chameleon but I live in the mountains so I would have to drive 1 hr an 45 minutes home from the nearest pet store can they survive this car ride? Or is it too stressful
I am not getting him/her for like a month. Should I have a supply for the car ride? Or just for at home? And I was wondering if I should have the enclosure set up before I get him or as I get him? And dang that was a fast reply thank you!!
Mike Tytula all I gotta know now is how much food and how often to feed and mist the cage and stuff like that. And would a cage like yours be suitable for a juvenile?
hi I was wondering if a chameleon would be okay alone for about 8 hours? I am in school currently would he/she be okay that long? Would it help to have a big cage so they can roam?
I live in saskatchewan and i want a chameleon where should i order from? And is there a bigger reptibreeze then the minimum for males. And one last thing is veiled chameleon and panther chameleon care different from each other?
I have a male Veiled Chameleon hes always dark colors and kind of aggressive towards me when I try and get him out of this cage, he also runs away when I put the meal worms in his cage. I just wanted to know if I'm doing anything wrong?
I have a couple of questions. It would help a lot if someone could answer them #1 What if the heat lamp falls, could the house catch on fire? #2 Do you always keep the UVB bulb on night and day? #3 Do chameleons smell? #4 How expensive are the crickets? If anyone could answer any of these questions, it would be great. I'm really looking forward to maybe getting a chameleon.
First great vid! Very informative. Can i ask what are the climbing ladders called on the sides of Rangos cage and were did you get them? I know they are so your cham does'nt break his claws. Thanks
Curious why you don't use calcium with D3, perhaps bc the UVB lamp makes it in your chams skin, much like it does a humans? What happens if there's too much D3?
I am 11 I have two crested geckos and a one moth old valid chomeelon I have him in an extra tall it is glass and I am getting him or her I don't no how to tell but I am a repty breeze I am not shore whether to get a large or meadom or large repty breeze . o and when should I move her.
very nice....I'm new..but having great success....thanks to guys like you and the care sheets available. My advice to anyone interested in Chameleons: read and watch voraciously before taking on the responsibility of caring for these magnificent animals. They aren't for lazy folks, but are indeed, so rewarding if you give them proper care!
I am going to get a baby male veiled chameleon soon once i have done the research and gotton the supplies (I have a mesh cage already). This was a really good video tysm but one thing i've noticed are the prices for the supplies are pretty pricey (like foliage and bulbs, i went to petsmart btw) can u recomend where to get them for cheaper?
I mean in my opinion the only other place to look would be a local petstore or online. And if you can't make the initial investment, I would really look into a smaller animal because I would much rather see someone give a leopard gecko or cresty a great hom, than love a chameleon and want to give the best home but can't provide it!
Thinking about getting a beiled chamelon already have red tail boa, corn snake, and two leopeard geckos i have a pretty good experence but i have a Glass exo terra will that be good for only a week or so... Also great videos keep it up👍😃🐢
OMG that was so helpfull thxs! :) i am soon to get a chameleon and i will definiatily follow you for more tips. can you keep 2 or more of the same gender in 1 tank. could you make a video on female chameleons or would it be the same???
I've read really good things about Repashy Calcium Plus. It's designed for dusting on every feeding and has D3...Have you had any experience with it? I've used it and it seems to work great for Day Geckos.
+Mike Tytula what do you think of terrriums with mesh and glass like this one www.petsmart.com/reptile/habitats-decor/national-geographic-trade-vertical-sanctuary-reptile-terrarium-zid36-26845/cat-36-catid-500009?var_id=36-26845&_t=pfm%3Dcategory
I know you said it isn't good to use lamps during the night but would a nocturnal infrared heat lamp be okay? Might be a dumb question but I just want to be 100% sure :)
Oh :/ so the female chameleons are they as colorful as the males and do they change colors as much as the males or do they just stay one color their whole lives. I know that they change their pigment depending on mood but the female chameleons i see are always a dark color and not as vibrant
+Mike Tytula hey I'm getting a flapneck cham. Question 1 will a flapneck do well in a 16 x 16 x 30 cage. Question 2: WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE BRANCHES ON THE TOP THEY LOOK AMAZING!!!!
Hey Mike great video this really helps. One question, I have repti calcium that has d3. Would that hurt him in anyway if I dust the food with it every day?
do i need both lights on at the same time? cause when i try to turn both on at the same time it blows all the outlets in my room andni have to go check the breaker i know theres something wrong with my outlets so for now im running one light at a time is this good for now?
nicole from everything that I've read, just them moving around to Thermoregulate themselves is enough to where you should have a constant "hot spot" thus a ceramic heater, and the other bulb is UVB-UVA. - now that's how I'm doing mine currently and he seems to be doing extremely well. Doesn't mean it's the same for everybody
I put my vine an inch from the top the highest point is in a corner my chameleon doesn't get to incredibly close and if he does I spray him (he hates that)
James Banner I guess it would be but they would pretty much be in their cage for a couple of hours depending on how small you are talking. Ideally you would have the appropriate size cage along with free roam
James Banner There would be no point in letting him out enless there is sun light. Honestly if you don't have the room for a proper cage I wouldn't get one, you could look into smaller species though
What about myself living in scotland, were its very cold constantly? A mesh screen is just going to fuck with his little eco system and be very hard to keep humid and warm. Trust me my window is always closed.
Ended up getting a wood+glass combo after finding out it really doesnt matter as long as you have plenty ventilation. Mine has 2 glass sliding panels on the front with a gap inbetween and 3 vents at the back. Coming up for 2 weeks now and no complaints yet from the wee guy.
Its not cheap man. We are probably pretty close to 400 quid at the moment, but to be honest we got kinda fucked over on a vivarium+chameleon combo "deal". After we bought it we realised we could have saved a hell of a lot buying the bits separately. Give me another message if you do get one , ive done plenty research on them and my guy is perfectly happy.
I have found all of your videos EXTREMELY helpful, I was wondering if you could please make a video of you actually putting the vivarium together and letting us know where you purchased everything. I have not been able to find a video like this anywhere and I really like your setup! Thanks so much

i don't know if i should still risk buying one... i could probably just silicone all the seams so no condensation gets into the electronics. or separate the electronics hood from the reservoir entirely somehow...
ya possibly! it's worth a try or just get the mist king and theres no problems :)

ya i dust every feeding and
i don't really worry about a schedule I just do it whenever haha
Can I feed my chameleon super-worms? Not meal-worms because of their shell, but can they eat super-worms?
They can eat both.
Agreed
I just came across your channel. Looking forward to watching your videos!
I have plenty since that one haha!
Mike Tytula yes, I have a lot to catch up on! :)
could u keep 2 females in the same tank
Ewa Myhrén yes but in a bigger one that you could keep 1 but i wouldn t recomend it
ok
I misted my chameleon and had a water bowl and he would always go down to drink from it.
It's rare!
Benjamin Graham then you are really lucky because it s rare
I've heard from pet shops to have backing spot temps between 95 - 100 and the cooler end around 80.
That's very hot
A trusted source is LLLReptile, find care articles for chams.
+where's my white privilege? A whole hell of a lot of time!
Although I do mist my chameleons cage, I do use the little dripper thing and a fairly shallow bowl that the water drips into of the plants and he seems to like drinking from the bowl so I think I'm very lucky...thanks for the vid it really helped
if the drips and falling into the bowl that's probably why because it's a moving water source :)
I would just go with lettuce, or Arcadia Omnigold if he chooses to eat it.
How do you keep your chameleons veil from burning at the tip?my chameleon tends to stat at the very top of his cage were his veil is touching the very top. It has caused his veil to get flat at the tip!
Move the vines down. Your veiled could die from that bte
Please tell me what to do
Jake Benzinger Honestly I would switch right away to screen
Mike Tytula its a terrarium, so it has bottom-to-top air ventilation with vents at the bottom and screen at the top so it gets good air flow, but I'm just not 100% sure. And what should I feed him when hes a smaller baby
Jake Benzinger smaller crickets...
When feeding a chameleon where should I put the crickets or are you supposed to hand feed them?
You can just throw them gently at the wall and they will stick to the mesh and climb up
Mike Tytula if I want to feed them with meal worms where should I put those?
I would mount a small dish on the side of the tank
Where do you buy your chams. if you order them online(don't know if its possible)what site do you order from
I got mine at reptile shows and the petstore I work at.
I've somehow managed to become obsessed with veiled chameleons as of late, and have been watching numerous videos about their care, and setups. StephOnee Lawrence They are I believe the biting because some can be very defensive. But most of the chameleons I've seen are fantastic :)
how much for the cages ? i always wanted one of these. and the cost of these lizards? i had a lizard in glass and never had any problems with disease or them getting sick.
Depends where you live I would call a local store to you and get the answer from them
I set up my home made dripper and my cham seems to be afraid of it. The droplets are collecting on the leaves and I havent seen him drink off them. Although I noticed if I just use a spray bottle he sometimes will drink off the leaves but he seems to prefer drinking the droplets that have collected on the ceiling of my cage. Is this normal?
ya it's fine! As long as he drinks at all no matter what way he get the water is good. Dripper or not... haha
I'm getting a 3 to 2 month old veild chameleon I just squared off a piece of my cage in a big cage so I don't I have to by another cage
If u can't put a chameleon cage near a window but u should have live plants how does the plant does live
+Seth Calandrelli The lights on top provided for the chameleon should be suitable for the plant
I had a panther chameleon and he was just like Rango. He would sit at the bottom of his cage until i opened it so he could climb on me. I never put anything at the bottom of his cage because i didnt know if it was okay for him to ingest. What would be the best?
Just depends if he eats it, and Coconut coir should be okay!
Wait , when you mean no glass does that same rule apply for all other reptiles or just chameleons ?
just chameleons!
I just got a veiled chameleon and at the reptile show he was light green, and the past few days he's been basically only brown. Is it just him getting used to his habitat? Or just him basking?
Thanks a lot - Conner
Darker colours typically mean something is off, humidity or temps or both might be off
Mike I have a adult size cage and a baby chameleon is gonna be here soon. i was wondering how I could section off part of my cage because I would not like a stressed out chameleon and all animals need to be treated very well. I hope you read this and Thank you for all the care videos please reply.😀
I would start it in it's full size just make sure there is a ton of foliage, and you offer to feed it a lot.
Mike Tytula Thank you for the reply, will do😊
Mike Tytula also I don't have a misting system just a little dripper would that work or would I need a spray bottle
I have mine in a tank. BUT, the entire front and top is screen, only the two sides and the back are glass. is that ok?
They should likely be in a cage like the one you see in the video!
I don't have a chameleon myself but I do know that they can get respiratory problems
I want to get a chameleon, but the biggest thing is, what is MOST crucial for the to live. I have done research ( a lot ) about them, but I want someone live with tips/advice
There isn't really anything crucial, what is crucial is that you provide proper care with all the proper things to have. What kind of tips are you looking for?

syzdykov ruslan Ya that totally makes sense, and ya cage cleaning you should keep up on they can get respitory infections pretty easily. I let mine get mostly uvb rays from bulbs but when it's nice out sometimes I bring them to hang out for a bit
Mike Tytula
Do you think blue tongued skinks are for tameable/notshy as a chameleon would be?
syzdykov ruslan blue tongues are much more tameable haha
so if a ten year old got a male vailed chameleon and she new how to take care of it do you think it would live for 8 years
That's hard to say if it's a first reptile I would get it when she is that young. but if she already has reptiles then ya it's possible
ok thanks awesome video
No problem
How about youth care video ?? Mine is eating a lot crickets 17 crickets today actually idk if they are to small for him that's why he is hungry so much and that's 2 feeding once morning and in evening
I'm thinking about getting a baby Jacksons chameleon is it pretty much the same care for them as it is for the veiled? +Scott gocklin They aren't the same care, I would research and setup sounds good so long as the basking temp is the right temp
+Mike Tytula also I can't seem to get the humidity above 55% and tips on that?
Scott gocklin Automatic mister
Hi I am wanting to get a veiled chameleon but I live in the mountains so I would have to drive 1 hr an 45 minutes home from the nearest pet store can they survive this car ride? Or is it too stressful
Josh Dresen I'm sure they would be fine as long as you can keep them warm, and do you have a good source of crickets?
I am not getting him/her for like a month. Should I have a supply for the car ride? Or just for at home? And I was wondering if I should have the enclosure set up before I get him or as I get him? And dang that was a fast reply thank you!!
Oh sorry I see what u mean!! Yes I have a store that sells crickets and such just not any reptiles
Josh Dresen oh okay fair enough
How old do the chameleons have to be in order to breed?
why dose rango like coming out of his cage, my chameleon hates coming out of his cage
+AW Roche Ya he loves coming out!
if i knew everithig you said ,and a lot more, do you thik that my new chameleon will be ok?
Do you have everything setup and temps good?
Yes. I got lot of vines, a waterfall, a misting system, and a fog maker. My temperatures are ok
Hanna Nicpin that's good then I guess you are ready
Mike Tytula thanks for your help!:-)
I want to get a chameleon. I've been doing research for a long time now but I just have a feeling I'll screw up
Depends on the quality of research I guess haha
Mike Tytula all I gotta know now is how much food and how often to feed and mist the cage and stuff like that. And would a cage like yours be suitable for a juvenile?
I would recommend listening to the chameleon breeder podcast!
hi I was wondering if a chameleon would be okay alone for about 8 hours? I am in school currently would he/she be okay that long? Would it help to have a big cage so they can roam?
+Kaylee Bryant Yes a chameleon will be fine but I would recommend an automatic misting system to keep humidity up
I live in saskatchewan and i want a chameleon where should i order from? And is there a bigger reptibreeze then the minimum for males. And one last thing is veiled chameleon and panther chameleon care different from each other?
I have a male Veiled Chameleon hes always dark colors and kind of aggressive towards me when I try and get him out of this cage, he also runs away when I put the meal worms in his cage. I just wanted to know if I'm doing anything wrong?
he's not happy for some reason probably temps and humidity...
I have a couple of questions. It would help a lot if someone could answer them
#1 What if the heat lamp falls, could the house catch on fire?
#2 Do you always keep the UVB bulb on night and day?
#3 Do chameleons smell?
#4 How expensive are the crickets?
If anyone could answer any of these questions, it would be great. I'm really looking forward to maybe getting a chameleon.
1) no, 2) No all lights should be off at night. 3) No 4) depends where you live
Mike Tytula Thank you so much!!! Keep up the great videos
DerpyGorillas No worries
What exactly would you use too keep cham. Eggs warm so the baby chams don't die....incubater,etc
they only should be at 75ºF which is almost room temp. but I used a fridge that I converted into an incubator haha
First great vid! Very informative. Can i ask what are the climbing ladders called on the sides of Rangos cage and were did you get them? I know they are so your cham does'nt break his claws. Thanks
It's just construction fencing from rona or home depot
Mike Tytula Thanks so much.!
Johnny Mulkey no problem man
I have heard that you shouldn't use a substrate but is that okay? Also can you feed them dubia roaches mostly?
just be careful with substrate! and yes for sure!
Curious why you don't use calcium with D3, perhaps bc the UVB lamp makes it in your chams skin, much like it does a humans? What happens if there's too much D3?
you really know your stuff! you should make more chameleon videos
I have newer chameleon videos on the channel now
How much should I feed my 3month old veild chameleon and will he no when he is full?
I fed mine twice a day probably 10 crickets each feeding
Mike Tytula Is it possible to have them in smaller cages if you allow them to walk around your home regularly?
How stinky are they? I imagine it's hard to clean all the poop off the leaves in the enclosure.
+Chocochiky210 They really aren't stinky at all!
they dont stink if you have a proper cage because they need humidity the poop is easy to just wipe away
I have a veiled chameleon he is two should i run sink water, tap water or drinking water through his dripper? Thank you!
I would go drinking water
Mike Tytula thnx i want him healthy his breeder treated him like shit
Mike Tytula sorry i didnt mean to say shit XD
Why is it bad to dust everyday with D3? I've had my chameleon for almost a year and I've used the powder with D3 everyday. Am i hurting my baby?? :(
you arent hurting him per say... but it just can hurt with the processing of calcium so i would stop though. but dont worry to much :)
hey , i have a question about my male veiled chameleon . He is 7 weeks old and always runs away went i get near him . What should i do ?
Leave it alone. They aren't animals that should be handled often. Just a showcase animal. Stress can shorten their life span and kill them
I am 11 I have two crested geckos and a one moth old valid chomeelon I have him in an extra tall it is glass and I am getting him or her I don't no how to tell but I am a repty breeze I am not shore whether to get a large or meadom or large repty breeze . o and when should I move her.
As soon as possible
Dew3y TV I will thanks I am getting it one week from wensday
very nice....I'm new..but having great success....thanks to guys like you and the care sheets available. My advice to anyone interested in Chameleons: read and watch voraciously before taking on the responsibility of caring for these magnificent animals. They aren't for lazy folks, but are indeed, so rewarding if you give them proper care!
Very well said!
Is it ok to have a chameleon while having school and work
If you think you can handle the responsibility
How hard are jacksons chameleons
i just a baby vieled 2 weeks ago and I noticed he is grabbing his front legs sometimes. he is eating and pooping, any ideas?
Do you usually clean the floor of ur chameleons cages what's ur cleaning process for them
You want to keep it as clean as possible honestly.
Thinking about getting a beiled chamelon already have red tail boa, corn snake, and two leopeard geckos i have a pretty good experence but i have a Glass exo terra will that be good for only a week or so... Also great videos keep it up👍😃🐢
+JVCreptiles If it only is actually a week then depending on the size of the tank yes
OMG that was so helpfull thxs! :) i am soon to get a chameleon and i will definiatily follow you for more tips. can you keep 2 or more of the same gender in 1 tank. could you make a video on female chameleons or would it be the same???
No! Do not keep more than one per tank!
How do you keep the humidity up in a mesh tank? Especially in the summer when you have ac running in the house?
Vapor Chasing Jason live plants and spray it down a lot
Ewan Evans thanks
I've read really good things about Repashy Calcium Plus. It's designed for dusting on every feeding and has D3...Have you had any experience with it? I've used it and it seems to work great for Day Geckos.
joe leder Ya I used it for a while! It seems very good
+Mike Tytula what do you think of terrriums with mesh and glass like this one www.petsmart.com/reptile/habitats-decor/national-geographic-trade-vertical-sanctuary-reptile-terrarium-zid36-26845/cat-36-catid-500009?var_id=36-26845&_t=pfm%3Dcategory
Jay Parikh It's to small for most chameleons
Mike Tytula ok thanks
Mike Tytula is this one better www.petco.com/product/127594/Zoo-Med-Repti-Breeze-Chameleon-Kit.aspx
Hey, how is the second Plant (5:00) pronounced?
What water do you use to mist veiled chameleons? can it be tap or does it have to be distilled or something?
I just use tap water that I add some fish water purifier to remove the chlorine and chloramines
Mike Tytula oh ok I have that :) thanks
VICTORIA RAMIREZ no problem!
are the vines like plastic or something else ?
+JoLee McNally The video says plastic, not silk along with real vines and plants.
+munchnmonkey ok thanks
Are ficus trees safe for them ? And is it ok if there is lots and lots of plants .
ya I have one in rango's cage, and it depends... too much might not be good but it can be pretty heavily packed with foliage
ok :3 I wont put to much in but ill put a good bit in . I want one and im trrying to get my mom to let me get one
DragonDude698 haha just do a bunch of research and show her you are ready!
Ya I have been for a couple weeks . But she says I have to many animals . I may be rehoming a few so it will all work out :3 hopefully
How big of a cage should i get for a baby?
Awesome video, doing my research for a possible chameleon and I'd basically copy your entire set up its awesome lol they both look great. Thank you!!
ahah glad I could help :)
do have to have both, a uvb lamp and a basking lamp, or do u just need one? please answer if you know 😊
Both are required
You also need a night bulb.
FrostyIsHere No you don't. If you require supplemental heat at night use a ceramic heat emitter!
I know you said it isn't good to use lamps during the night but would a nocturnal infrared heat lamp be okay? Might be a dumb question but I just want to be 100% sure :)
a ceramic heat emitter would be better! :)
Mike Tytula Thank you very much for replying, I appreciate it! and your videos are very informative. Thanks again :)
no problem :) Glad I could help :)
will they eat bamboo and plastic plants?
no
Is a 28x16.5x30 good for an adult chameleon?
Ricardo Zayas 30 tall? That might be okay for a female not a male though
Oh :/ so the female chameleons are they as colorful as the males and do they change colors as much as the males or do they just stay one color their whole lives. I know that they change their pigment depending on mood but the female chameleons i see are always a dark color and not as vibrant
Ricardo Zayas They are less colourful and smaller
okay ill see...because i really want a male but thee cages are pretty expensive so ill see. But hey man thanks for the help
Ricardo Zayas male need 2 feet by 2 feet by 4 feet. No problem my friend!
If you have a female Veiled live for 6 years that's extremely lucky. I would say 2-5 years it better
that's true but they can live to about 6 years
All my chameleons have been fine in glass
You are correct
can the emclosure be made of wood?
It could if done correctly
Do you ever feed Rango mealworms?
+Alex silva He loves superworms but there would be no point of feeding mealworms
+Mike Tytula oh ok do you just put the worms on the branch or in a dish. And how would you set up the dish
Alex silva I always feed him by hand
+Mike Tytula hey I'm getting a flapneck cham. Question 1 will a flapneck do well in a 16 x 16 x 30 cage. Question 2: WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE BRANCHES ON THE TOP THEY LOOK AMAZING!!!!
how do you clean all the plants?
+AirplaneBoss 18 with your hands makeup pads and rubbing alcohol!
if I put a dripper above the water bowl would they drink from the bowl?
It's possible
Is a 30x30x18 enclosure big enough for a full grown female?
You need to get a 24/24/48 is the what you need for female or male veiled chameleon
Jules Billa no he said the bigger the better
Nice! Been wanting to get one for a while. Very helpful video!
Im glad you liked it :)
Mike Tytula also just wondering if the cage has to be all sides mesh or just the front side
zinxzi all sides is best
With research could they make a good first time pet?
I don't really recommend it, but I suppose that they can.
Hey Mike great video this really helps. One question, I have repti calcium that has d3. Would that hurt him in anyway if I dust the food with it every day?
Ya you don't not what to dust with that everyday
This may be my first reptile I'm going get probably
Toxna :3 bad first owner reptile pet
bcrosser28 there really isn’t such thing a bad beginner reptile. as long as you know how to take care of them, it’s fine.
I just want to steal memes all day long so can my first beginner reptile be a king cobra
Would a exo terra dripper plant work
TheYoyo Minecart Ya it should but it's way overpriced
Does it matter what kind of orthos plants are safe or does it matter?
+Leo082194 I assume you mean't pothos and no they are the same
where should I order a veiled cameleon at
+jahaddius davis Where do you live?
+Mike Tytula. Dalton,Georgia
jahaddius davis FL chams is a good one there is a ton of breeders in the states
+Mike Tytula so just go to Florida and buy it
jahaddius davis no they ship
Is it okay to keep them in a glass exo terra if they are babies
Depends what kind of environment you live in.
do i need both lights on at the same time? cause when i try to turn both on at the same time it blows all the outlets in my room andni have to go check the breaker i know theres something wrong with my outlets so for now im running one light at a time is this good for now?
like 6 hours for uvb and 6 for heating
No that's really not great... I would try and get that thing all fixed up
Im working on. It the lady at animal house told me at least im trying the best i can do without burning my house down
Can you turn both lights off at night?
yes
you can, but you have to have heat. thus a Ceramic bulb would be ideal
Not necessarily. Dropping the temperature, (as long as it doesn't go below 60 degrees fahrenheit), helps their metabolism.
nicole from everything that I've read, just them moving around to Thermoregulate themselves is enough to where you should have a constant "hot spot" thus a ceramic heater, and the other bulb is UVB-UVA.
- now that's how I'm doing mine currently and he seems to be doing extremely well. Doesn't mean it's the same for everybody
I put my vine an inch from the top the highest point is in a corner my chameleon doesn't get to incredibly close and if he does I spray him (he hates that)
why would you spray him if he hates that? its gonna stress him out
my chameleon 's name is rango!
I'm so excited! I'm looking into getting one!
do some research and go for it :)
Mike Tytula Is it possible to have them in smaller cages if you allow them to walk around your home regularly?
James Banner I guess it would be but they would pretty much be in their cage for a couple of hours depending on how small you are talking. Ideally you would have the appropriate size cage along with free roam
Mike Tytula I work 8 hours but I stay awake till 1 am so I would let him or her out for 7 hours as soon as I got off work. Would that be okay?
James Banner There would be no point in letting him out enless there is sun light. Honestly if you don't have the room for a proper cage I wouldn't get one, you could look into smaller species though
At what age do there vibrant colors start coming in?
4 months?
+Mike Tytula dude i heard that mesh cages make controlling the humidity hard...
Great video as usual :) hoping to get one in the future ....
right on they are stunning :)
What is the best age and size to get a Veiled Chameleon?
+Jenna Sexton 3 months
What about myself living in scotland, were its very cold constantly? A mesh screen is just going to fuck with his little eco system and be very hard to keep humid and warm. Trust me my window is always closed.
Ya I would have a large glass tank then!
jack mcwilliams I'm from Scotland aswell, what cage did you end up getting??
Ended up getting a wood+glass combo after finding out it really doesnt matter as long as you have plenty ventilation. Mine has 2 glass sliding panels on the front with a gap inbetween and 3 vents at the back. Coming up for 2 weeks now and no complaints yet from the wee guy.
jack mcwilliams how much did your Chameleon cost overall? Considering buying one in april, just kind of on a budget aha
Its not cheap man. We are probably pretty close to 400 quid at the moment, but to be honest we got kinda fucked over on a vivarium+chameleon combo "deal". After we bought it we realised we could have saved a hell of a lot buying the bits separately. Give me another message if you do get one , ive done plenty research on them and my guy is perfectly happy.
when do you feed them? every what? like every 4 days?
+Reptile Addict Everyday
+Mike Tytula thank you!
Thnx i just want him as clean and healthy as possible
Thanks for watching!
