  • I find this entire situation to be hilarious. Anabolic usage certainly is climbing and many transformations that you see are indeed assisted. But not ALL are, and it seems many "physique detectives" on reddit actually have no idea what the fuck they are talking about, and have standards that can actually be far surpassed without taking anything.
Do better, reddit! You can achieve a LOT naturally!

So he gained that much mass in 1.5 years of mediocre training with gyms closing down more than once. But yeah, for sure natty right?

Reddit is such a sad, whiny place.
A few weeks ago I was arguing with a girl about the efficiency of cutting calories to lose weight. She kept saying how it's not feasible for the *majority* of people to lose weight that way because of illnesses, work schedule and metabolism.
No matter what I said she just kept repeating that i was mansplaining and privileged.
She, at some point, brought the example of her friend who was anorexic and couldn't lose weight while cutting. Or she said that her maintenance is 1300 calories so anything less than that would mean she wouldn't get enough nutrients. I suggested she exercised and she again brought up work schedule, kids etc.

It’s the delts that drive people insane. I do think one of the biggest giveaways on natty status is when the delts are capped and full 100% of the time- but as you say in this video, a natural with good shoulder genetics, a pump, and perfect lighting and angles can easily come across as juicy in a one off photo.

I can see why many people are confused. Most of the info outhere is bad and most guys going to the gym are kids.
I started working out at the age of 14 and even tho I was training hard, and eventually implemented proper routine and nutrition... any progress was very hard and slow to come. Ever since I was a complete novice.
Then I turned twenty and a lot of things changed. I believe it was cause my body had finally (mostly) matured then. Putting on muscle became extremely easy compared to before. For over two years i could set PRs each workout, and it actually seemed like I was experiencing "noobie gainz" for the first time ever.
I did not change my training and nutrition in any significant way during that time period. My body was just different cause it had gone through puberty.
So this transformation seems reasonable to me now. However, I would have been extremely suspicious if i had seen it while i was a teen.

Going back to the gym (5-6 days each week), I regained that lost muscle-mass pretty quickly before plateauing at 150 for a while. I then shifted towards actually increasing my calorie intake too, since I struggled to even reach 2,000 calories/day and started making gains again (newbie gains 2.0?). Am now standing at about 168-171 lbs, four days shy of the 1-year mark. My body fat has increased by a few percentage points, but I wouldn't want to post about my gains publicly to forums like reddit or my personal social media because I realize gaining nearly 40 lbs in a year isn't normal and I'd want to save face from those accusations, even if about 20 of it was formerly-had mass. It is definitely possible to gain lots of muscle under the right conditions.

I get accused of it every day and then when I defend myself with facts that disprove their claims they just accuse me of roid rage and say that I'm too defensive to be telling the truth. As if people just laugh or politely agree when they get falsely accused. These people are so pathetic. I am 5'9.5" at 163-167 lbs at 8-10% bf year round at 42. I've been the same weight for 20 years. I built 20lbs the first year, 10 the second year and 5 more over the last 18 years. I got as lean as I am by losing almost all the muscle in my late 30's by starving which also leaned me out getting me down to a dangerous 5% at 143 lbs. I got back into lifting two years ago and because of muscle memory I was able to get it all back in 6 months without having to bulk. I barely had to eat at maintenance. So this is why I am so lean. Not because of gear. You don't get to be my age looking like me for as long as I have by doing steroids. I have never had acne or bance, never sweat during workouts unless it's hot out. I have all my hair even though it has been gradually thinning since late 20's. I have high testosterone and high sperm count. I have a strong labido and perfect health. That's because I did this naturally not in spite of it. I've always had capped delts and veins popping out if my arms and shoulders. Its mostly genetics combined with proper training and diet and sleep over a long period of time. This is not easy but its possible. Only losers who need to cope would think that this guy or me for that matter are not natural.

Geoffrey, I gotta say I'm pretty sure you're wrong about this one. I mean, it's pretty obvious he is fake natty... guy's newbie gains progress is nonstop (yeah even newbie gains slowdown). But hey if you seriously think he is natty, read this comment and I'm almost sure I'll change your mind. Trust me, it's worth the essay.
These are compiled from his Reddit posts
1st Year - "I went from 230lbs to 150 ish lbs while working out. huge weight loss yeah but I literally barely ate anything the whole year". " I did not lift in the before photo I was just fat lol." These are related to his before and 1st year. He barely ate to do such a great cut, but he doesn't look depleted whatsoever, he even gained a decent amount of muscle mass. Shoulders, by the way, are not very round and pretty average in that area, to be honest. But these results are VERY good, for someone who, as he claims, has never lifted and barely eaten.
1.4 Years - "I just went to the gym like 3-4 times a week, i didnt really have a routine back then I just did whatever but I still pushed myself. In terms of diet I literally just ate less shit and did not snack in between meals." "I didnt even follow any special protocol, i just ate less shitty food and worked out hard. Thats about it!" "Kinda bummed tho cuz the gyms around me just closed again". In his 1.4 years he focused on gaining muscle, his gains are INSANELY good given that he has only focused on muscle building in .4 years. I would understand if he did an optimal workout and was super well informed, but he mentions not having any specific routine or protocol and doing whatever, not any specific diet (in this situation, a well-controlled surplus would've been expected). On TOP of that, this was during the gyms closing due to Cvid, and him saying "again" means that within that year of progress, his local gyms had closed more than once. However, he still managed to make insanely good progress, especially for natty, in such an extremely short time (again, only .4 years). Shoulders, looking kinda suspicious, maybe genetics, but everything else seems to be underwhelming compared to those shoulders.
1.5 Years - Honestly, not much to quote. 99% of his comments are him defending LIKE CRAZY he is natural, which we all know is a common trait for fake natties, while natties normally are happier and less triggered with being called fake natties. However, that is not a clear factor, more like a point to take notice of. He claimed to be bulking still (since 2nd year), but he seems suspiciously shredded to me, again, not an "obvious" aspect but still interesting. His gains have sped up, which is the most suspicious thing since it looks like he gained more mass in this .1 year progress than in the .4 year progress he did before.
2.5 Years - "Peoples shoulders are just shaped differently, mine pop out way more than most people’s just cause thats how theyre shaped" " What do you think ifbb pros looked like after 2.5 years? Not saying im of that calibre, not even close, but you get my point". So, in the end, the picture looks massive. He claims his shoulders have that round shape, false, we saw him when he cut, his shoulders are not naturally any more popped than your average joe. Brings up ifbb pros, saying that he can do great progress in 2.5 years, and so do ifbb pros... I mean, come on man, the timing. Looks insanely huge, still bulking but still fairly shredded but not as much as before.
To me, this is an OBVIOUS case of fake natty. He wants people to believe he is natty and salivate looking at his amazing progress. All the signs are extremely suspicious, and there are even more progress pics in his Reddit. For example, one that shows a HUGE increase in deltoid size in a MONTH. We know steroids work best on shoulders due to receptors so there seems to be coherence in that department. Here are some of the biggest factors I didn't mention. He did ALL THIS while also being in university, studying something related to mathematics, and even getting math scholarships. He is open (around last year) about experiencing with micro-dosing shrooms, not cause-and-effect but people who have experience with one drug and broke that barrier of fear of testing, tend to be more open about using other drugs.
I honestly do not understand with Geoffrey thinks he is natty especially when the factors are so obvious. By the way, in ALL his threads, he was continuously asked what his workouts were. He gave average answers, push/pull, no routine, yadda yadda yadda, or just ignored them (funny though, he didn't seem to be able to ignore those that claimed he was a fake natty huh). Never mentioned you, probably told you that because you gave him the attention he so desperately needs as a fake natty, especially since you believed his CLEARLY bs story.

tbh if i JUST look at his reddit posts, i would also be suspicious, bcs when u make these transformation posts, ur aim isn't to present the gains as truthfully and realistically as possible but to make it look as impressive as possible (to emphasise your progress). so u grab the worst looking before picture and get the most perfect after picture. no consistent setting, lighting, posing or bodily state (pumped, rested, after a meal, after a workout, flexing, etc). so u do end up with unrealistic presentation of a natural transformation.

I also saw a very very average 6 month transformation on reddit, but there were more than 5 comments were accusing him of being juiced.

@@dzudemlow It really isn't. For one, people just guesstimate bodyfat percentage when using it for natty or not. Accurate bfp is a prerequisite for applying FFMI in a way that is even close to useful.
Secondly, it is questionable if the 25/26 FFMI target is even a valid natty limit. The Kouri study that it is derived from has all sorts of issues.

Dude has great genetics for the "ring of power" region. More specifically his pecs and shoulders.
His traps are kinda lacking and we would need to see his legs.
It's really not that unbelievable, but people do be like that. Anyone who looks like they work out will be accused of steroids at some point.

What some people think is possible naturally is funny in both ways. Doug Miller on one end of the spectrum vs having only some muscle with slight definition and if you have a little more cuts or favorable genetics in some bodypart - instantly drugs lol

Fascinating. After my cut from 313 lbs to 154 lbs I didn't look any like that. There was no muscle to be seen. Sure, I didn't train to keep my muscle mass. But that is not how people usually look after losing a lot of weight. Actually I am at 167 lbs. My height is 192cm and I am (and never were) for fucking sure not even close to 11% body fat. It's rather an estimated 18%.
Expectations vs reality is a hurtful thing.

I wouldn't be that hard on yourself, you weren't lifting during the cut. Luckily it sounds like you have got a lot of beginner gains ready to happen. Just go slightly above your maintenance calories (200?) for some reasonable lean bulking and consistently train hard with a linear progression type program. You should see some gains fairly quickly if you're doing it right. Once you're in the low 20s BF you can do another cut and then repeat the lean bulk. :)

Hang in there and keep working, you've got a good start. At 235 he may well have been physically active and had decent or even good muscle mass from playing sports while carrying excessive weight. Post cut, that muscle would be rebuilt faster than any new muscle would be built. You might get some pretty decent gains if being consistent with training diet and nutrition also helps you rebuild the muscle you did have when heavier. You may get muscle back in your lower body since it was carrying your weight in daily activities the whole time before your cut. So if you want to keep your spirits up by noticing progress, make sure you nail your leg and hip girdle training. Forward!

There are plenty of roid users that don't have FFMIs anywhere near 26. Not all roid users are trying to even maximize lean body tissue. So, ultimately, these natty or nots are just kind of pointless speculation.

This just proved what Alphadestiny said, fitness community is full of novices. They see something like this and automatically called it steroid, because they never had muscle in the first place and cannot fathom something achievable like this
