It has been 2 weeks since i have bought the canon SX60 and i nearly knew half of it's options but now i know almost of it and i appreciate your effort to make these videos thanks (Can't Wait To Watch The Other Episodes)
You sold me! We were trying to decide on a camera and this one is it. We shoot SLRs most of the time, but we needed something more portable for vacations.
Thanks a lot for this awesome review. For me, it is the first meaningful review and comparison between SX50 and SX60. I have not decided yet to upgrade my SX50.
A marvellous review - which also gives people the opportunity to *learn* about what the features do. Well done! I love my SX50 camera and so it was great to learn about the new SX60 features - and some of the foibles. Thanks!
Thank you for a very good review and also showing the different functions it has. I bought theCanon Powershot SX60HS 2 weeks ago and am very pleased with it so far. Your video shows me much more than the manual that i downloaded. This is by FAR the most informative video that i myself have watched. Again ty.
This is camera is perfect get it here amzn.to/1F6lEoR Quickly share everything you capture. The Power Shot SX60 HS is Wi-Fi and NFC enabled with an easy Mobile Device Connect button.
You are so methodical. Loved the review. The most comprehensive on SX60 HS. Mine comes in tomorrow. So much more aware about it already thanks to you.. Thanks !
Thank you so much for making a very informative video. Not only did I learn so much about the SX60 (which I'm considering buying), but also learned about the differences between the older SX50 (which is cheaper, and temping to buy), AND I got a wonderful refresher course on all the neat features on the Canon cameras that I sometimes use, and others that I had forgotten about or didn't understand. Great stuff! Keep it coming.
Excellent review. Canon just upgraded me on an Sx50 that had problems to the Sx60. Now it's clear it was a good thing that they did. I subscribed to your channel :)
Thanks for your videos. I had Powershot S3 as you had, and now I have the SX50 as you. And I agree with you, is a very good camara for the price. A lot of friend have expensive camaras, but people prefer my portraits photos. Good photos are made by enthusiastic photographers and not for expensive camaras. People who wants portraits, want to be nice and pretty in photos, and they don't understand about pixels, resolutions, etc.... By the way, in most videos, i can see automatica subtitles in English, but not in yours, and that help spanish speakers because you speak very fast. Anyway, congratulations for your very goog advisors making photos with Bridge camaras. I follow your videos, from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.
Its a pleasure Juan. I'm glad you love the show. Yes, its the photographer who makes the photo, not the camera. Good gear helps but you still need to take a good image.
Wow I am so glad I found your channel. Just bought the sx60hs and trying to get the best out of it. Subscribed and will be watching your excellent videos. Thanks. Cheers Mary
This was an exceptionally well-done comparison. I have had both cameras but I gave them away to family. Now I want another one to travel with since I love it for wide-angle and zooming. NOW that 6 years have transpired since you produced this video Canon has a 70HS model that has some upgrades to the 60 HS. I will seek a video comparison with 60 HS to the new 70 HS.
I've been using the SX40 for about 3 yrs and was considering buying a lightly used 50 or a new 60... I have to say, your review style & delivery are really good. I'm impressed at your clarity and pace, the amount of info U gave (a lot is applicable to the my SX 40 the SX 50 too) and you totally opened my mind to the PROGRAM mode as apposed to Auto or C1/C2. If U lived in LA I'd take classes from you!!! THANKS for VIds!!
Thankyou, thankyou thankyou. I was really in a dilemma whether I should upgrade my SX50 for a SX60. With this detailed video my doubts have been addressed. Thank you so much for this video. I love my SX50 but unfortunately it died and I can't have it repaired. I was looking at the SX60 and wondering how it compared to the SX50. I had my camera for 4 years and I'm embarrassed to say that never really took it off auto. Your video really showed me how to use the other functions. I will definitely check out your other videos.
Great! This is far the best camera review I've ever watched! You are so detailed and it feels like if I were the one who was manipulating the camera! I will watch your other videos too! Thanks for your time!
Thanks for the informations! Very helpful for starters like me. Just bought this camera as a gift for myself. Have no ideas of the features or the functions but bought it anyways. So, now through your videos I will be able to learn and play around my camera.
Love this video! Thank you very much!!! I've probably watched it 10 times in one day as cause I just got one (you've help me decide to get this camera through this video) very happy :)
Excellent video, thank you! I currently have the SX40 HS. I was considering an upgrade to the SX60HS but have a read a lot about how people prefer the SX50 to the 60...I like the way the SX60 feels, it feels much more suitable for my hands - which are on the large side. I like the SX40 but it has always admittedly felt rather awkward to hold.
I've subscribed and you sold me on buying this camera instead of a Nikon D3300 dslr. I like the zoom features, I'm tired of my compact camera and missing out on so many quality videos and photos and the distant subjects being blurry. You should be given a top position within Canon company! :)
Bought the SX 60 for my wife... then stole it for myself. Great camera and this video is an excellent explanation, BY FAR the best....so have subscribed.... And an extra bonus, you are local. Thanks, Donald, (from Durban).
Thank you so much for this excellent information - I have just purchased this camera and your easy to follow instructions are making it so easy for me to understand this camera. I am now following all your lessons and am loving it - it will help so much with the photos I take for my dog blog - hey a lesson on taking great pics of pets and animals would be awesome too :) - Many thanks - Bree.
Great in depth review and comparison, have the SX50HS, and have been wondering if upgrading is worthwhile, this convinced me especially on the video side (I have SX50HS tests on my channel) Cheers, well done!
I start to search about the Canon Powershot SX60 HS and found this video. Omg sir, you are the one i have looking for in a long time! you are so amazing so i can`t believe it. You talk slow and steady and explain everything, and give tip that you think, for example, i lookt at a video, (the ISO video you explaind) then you mentioned that you like to think outside the box, and do the cool "desktop" lines. I love to take photos, and you make me be motivated to make the same or such, i did not know i could do that haha. You just explane so well i just love it haha. keep up the very well made videos! you sir, you are awesome! :D By the way, i will buy the Canon Powershot SX60 HS soon as possible and you make me wanna to :D
Outstanding video!!! Your in-depth, video supported, feature comparisons between the SX50 and the SX60 helped me to choose the SX60 as the camera to best meet what I expect will be our present use and possible future use of this camera. I very much like the new ergonomic layout of dials and buttons, the larger overall grip of the camera's body, the external microphone option, and the wifi capabilities. Thanks for such a superb share!
You are most welcomed. My wife and I look forward to watching your other SX60 videos as we definitely have a lot to learn about photography and camera use, and we expect to gain quite a bit of ground from viewing your other videos.
I wanted to thank this comprehensive and detailed tutorial, I'm using reflex (Nikon) but I have to start my photographic stole because my home computer and I decided to buy this camera for its price and performance, I hope not mistaken. Greetings from Mar del Plata, Argentina !!!
Hi, excellent video. Really shows the difference between these 2 cameras. Was looking at the SX50, but may give up a bit of resolution for the features of the SX60!
This is an absolutely wonderful video i understand some of the basics with photography, but learning the camera and where every function and what every button does takes time and this has really helped me so THANK YOU SO MUCH. I got it as a christmas presant and the manual didnt help me as much as this video did! ^_^
You are THE BEST, my brother. I'm a newbie trying to determine which camera to purchase and I was really confused until I saw this video. I wondered why NO ONE thought to give me the actual photos, knowing they are reduced on RUclips, than BAM!!! You did. Refreshing. But then you offer so much more. Of course I had to subscribe, because when I purchase that camera your tutorial videos will be gold for this newbie. Thank you.
Hi, is it possible to charge the Canon SX60 in-camera with a computer or a power bank? It's an essential feature for me when travelling where I can charge it on the go with a power bank. Buying spare batteries is not practical for me. Thanks for the wonderful review and hoping for a reply
I still shoot film w/ my old Minolta SRT-101 w/ 58mm 1.4, but this seems to be a great digital camera. Was going to buy a dslr, but this looks more than adequate, thanks again...very informative video.
OMG! This video is just what I needed. Most of the links I presume are for various functions of the SX60 HS? I do have too many questions for this comment but one question will suffice for now: Do you recommend lowering the megapixels on this camera (I believe it can do that) to improve color and sharpness quality? This is the first quite informative explanation I've seen of the benefits and negative aspects of higher megapixels.
Great review but you skipped over the CREATIVE MODE button. What a great way to get wonderful effects and unusual images on a single shot. Would like to know your take on it.
First time user of a bridge camera, I'm about to order the SX60HS, LOVE your vids, every single base is covered and more. You explain and demonstrate things so well, unlike all the anal "over technical" Americans out there ;) I wasn't looking forward to learning the camera until I found this channel, now it will be a breeze, your presentation is second to none. Many thanks for your work.
+MWESTPhotography Well, after many many hours researching all the bridge cameras, I was hesitant on the SX60 due the the noise issues. What none of these reviewers say is... it's an easy fix in PS, I can take any Image and make it look as good as, and in most cases better than all the comparison images, once I realized that, it was an easy choice to make. The SX60 is a "perfect" bridge camera in every way shape and form except for image noise, and as I can fix all of that in post, it's no longer is an issue. I've literally been researching for days, reading anal reviews and nerdish complaints about the IQ, it's been the only thing stopping me ordering this camera, it's features trump every other bridge camera on the market at this price range. All it needs is a little TLC in PS :)
hi friend i m very thank full to you to learn me this way. its very help full tutorial from your side. i m little bit confused can tell which one. is good camera betwen canon sx50hs, sx60hs and sony dsc hx400v. what are the advantages n disadvantages between them. please hlep me.
I had an SX50HS and then 'upgraded' to the SX60HS. Soon after that I got the chance to try a Lumix FZ330 and that was SO much better - both image-wise and when using the zoom. Agreed, the 330 zoom isn't as 'super' as the 60HS, but the image stabilisation even at full zoom is incredible. I'm not really into massive zooms anyway so the difference between the two cameras doesn't worry me. The net result is that the SX60HS is gone and the FZ330 is now in my camera bag.
Impresive review...you really gave me all I needed to know about the camera and I'll start watching your show, it seems very very useful and interesting. Thanks for sharing all this
How is the quality when shooting indoors in low light, for example in a school auditorium for a play, graduation, awards ceremony, etc. where lights are dim (or off) in the audience and stage is more brightly lit?
Great insight, I'm about to choose myself, SX50 or 60? I am now using a very old Olympus bridge again because my much newer Panasonic FZ62 the zoom wouldn't return after 8 months of little use. Eventually found only by taking out the batteries would turn it off. After about 4 months wrangling with Panasonic they gave me another but that went the same way, actually worse, the computer packed up completely! So I got a full refund. I use a camera 50% video 50% photos. I had studied some reviews ref the pixel race, ie less = more! So would it be possible to answer a few questions please? PHOTOS I think = SX50 VIDEOS For things like Sunsets/timelapse, is there any difference between the length of timelapse & the number of frames? Also movie length, is it appreciably different? Is there a function on the SX50 to synchronise film/sound using my external mike anywhere, I thought it had a connector above the HDMI one, if so I could clip it to my lapel? Which camera is best bearing in mind all of the above & by a % please? Thanks a lot
irie0for0all irie.for.all Since you will be doing a lot of video I would go for the SX60, manual control as well external mic support. The SX50 does have better image quality when you zoom in 100%.
Thx for the great review! I subscribed, I'm glad canon did away with the multi function wheel in back!, I & others would accidentally go to other functions using it, like when setting manual focus etc. Only wish it had a focus ring on the lens. That was a bad design. Will be getting the SX60 thx in part to your review.
Good tutorial..Iam not sure maybe you mentionned it somewhere else that a great option with this cam is to change the display to the viewfinder instead of the lcd screen for videos...which is better when in sunlight... there is better support then having the arms extended trying to see in the lcd... plus it is a battery saver...
I like your video but since I don't have a sx 50 so that part was not very interesting. I would like to see a series of very short videos on the function of each of the SX 60 capabilities. Simple things that a newby like me should know in order to take a picture. I am going to your other videos to see how they will help.
Really good video, this was really helpful! I have a question, I own the Canon SX50 today and i love long zoom cameras and would like to buy SX60 but are a little unsure? do not know if I should buy SX60 or wait for the Nikon P700 that would have been released a few months ago but has been delayed, I have heard that the specifications will be significantly better than the Canon SX60! Thank you so much for a great video
Very interesting. One question: the video seems to be restricted to 16 minutes max in one take... is that normal? How do I record a concert of say 60 minutes in video? (memory card is sufficient large).
Just bought SX 60 and your video helped me a lot, thanks. Is it so that zoomed shots will give less megapixels ? How to get more megapixels? My today's shots showed about 100 kb size only.
Hi Marius! Once again a terrific communicative video. It was stuffed with information. Well Done. Q1: You covered many of the new Video features. The ability to alter Exposure and LOCK it too, while capturing Video, is very welcome, can we also alter Focus on the go too? - I'm guessing that if we could, you'd have been all over it. Q2: Does the Histogram show while Videoing? Q3: I would be really interested to be able to download small snippets of the Full HD 1920 x 1080: 60fps and the 30 fps. Would you post some samples? Thank you Graham
Graham Bernard Thanks Graham. You can adjust the focus :) While you record you press the MF button and you can adjust the focus on the go. Nice feature, just a tad bit on the slow side. I prefer the manual focus ring on a lens. The histogram does not show while you record video. I will try and upload a video to my ftp server. RUclips changes the quality when you upload :)
I do like the better manual adjustment, but i'm happy with my SX50 for now although I would never really consider either of these to be very professional camera's. although they are decent for starters I would also love to see a Mic input for the shoe.
when using video, as a vlogger does it auto focus on yourself if you move into shot or does it keep focusing on the background and keep you blurry. I know this is such a novice question but I need to know as the Canon 600d Dslr I have doesn't do this and it has to be done manually which quite frankly is a pain in the arse. I don't want to buy something and waste my money if it does exactly the same. I have subbed too my friend, great informative video👍👍👍
Hi Marius! Thanks for a great tutorials. I just love bridge cameras and while looking for new one I found your vlog. It is just great. But I want to ask something. On my SX60 HS there is one button on the top which can be programmed. I was going to put ISO on it but camera allows me to set only certain things on it. Am I doing something wrong or it has to be like that? Maybe there is a new software update somewhere which will allow me to do it? Please, answer if you can. Thanks again for the show! Marek
I have two questions....the first, I bought a similar Canon version of one of these cameras for my daughter. We went to a Paul McCartney concert and I chose not to use my SLR 5D Mk II. I absolutely loved the ease and also capability so much that im thinking about selling of all my "professional" stuff (i.e., 17-35 2.8L, 24-70 L, 100 - 400 L, MK II) and going with the 60hs. I'm not really a pro.... so do you think its an "OK" move or do you think im really sacrificing some things?? ..... to me , I'm feel I could miss the "full frame" sensor and the optics of the "L" glass ...... but this little "point and shoot" offers sooo much and to get rid of dragging all that glass arout seems like a nice trade .....what do u think??the second, .... can you assign the ISO to that button on top? Seems like a good move cuz it puts the ISO on the "outside" ..... and it puts it right next to the "adjust dial" These are excellent .... thanks for taking the time to share info
+Michael Jennings The 5D is a heavy beast, why not look into a mirrorless camera like the Fuji X-T1? Its a lot smaller and lighter but you still get the performance of a pro camera and good glass. I don't own the SX60hs anymore so I cant remember all the buttons on the body :) Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for this video. Very helpful. Anyway, l have a request. Can you teach us how to take long exposure shot using this SX60 HS? I don't know how to adjust the Apetur and the shutter speed for long exposure. Thank you.
Joseph Canddy Thanks Joseph! Glad you enjoyed the video. Have you watched the Digital Photography Today series on my channel?. I have videos for Shutter Speed, Aperture and Manual as well as a video on Night Photography.
+Salem Alnaimi Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. You cannot use flash to shoot video. You need a constant light. There are lots of LED panels available online for shooting video.

Still have my sx40 n love it but thinking of upgrading to sx60. Thank you for the great review.
dixon negron Thanks Dixon, glad you enjoyed it.
Absolutely fantastic review. Thank you ver much. I just bought one of these, and I'm waiting anxiously.
Mauris , I have learnt a lot from your videos. Many thanks.
Very good review. A lot of detail and very well explain.
VITOR M. C. SOARES Thanks Vitor!
i was thinking to buy Nikon Coolpix P900. what will be your advice? Nikon P900 or Canon sx60hs?
Great video - thanks - about to jump from SX40 to SX60 - can't wait!!! :-)
Thanks for your video review! it really help me to make a decision on buying my first entry-level camera. XD keep the good work.
***** Its a pleasure Miguel!
Thank you.
Thank you so much for this very informative review. You've convinced me to get the SX60HS for my wife!
igp808 Its a pleasure!
Hi, is it possible to charge the Canon SX60 in-camera with a computer or a power bank? It's an essential feature for me when travelling where I can charge it on the go with a power bank. Buying spare batteries is not practical for me. Thanks for the wonderful review and hoping for a reply
thank u for taking the time to make this video.
izan salleh Its a pleasure!
very good review. shows a lot of things that the others (reviews) don´t. Well comparison with test quality shots.
Good work dude! - Nice review to assist in making purchase decisions ;)
+Pieter Nel Dit is n plesier Pieter :)
I still shoot film w/ my old Minolta SRT-101 w/ 58mm 1.4, but this seems to be a great digital camera. Was going to buy a dslr, but this looks more than adequate, thanks again...very informative video.
machia0705 Its a pleasure!
such a good video ! just what i was looking for. many thanks
Andrew Kerry Thanks Andrew! Its a pleasure.
Just perfect!! Thanks a lot for the explanations and suggestions.
Joao Goncalves Its a pleasure Joao!
Great review but you skipped over the CREATIVE MODE button. What a great way to get wonderful effects and unusual images on a single shot. Would like to know your take on it.
Muy bueno tu vídeo... explicaste muy bien las funciones que no se muestran en promocionales, vídeo y con micrófono. El mejor que hay en you tube.
First time user of a bridge camera, I'm about to order the SX60HS, LOVE your vids, every single base is covered and more.
You explain and demonstrate things so well, unlike all the anal "over technical" Americans out there ;)
I wasn't looking forward to learning the camera until I found this channel, now it will be a breeze, your presentation is second to none.
Many thanks for your work.
+Richard Missin Awesome! I'm glad you love the show. Enjoy the learning process!
Great video - very helpful to make a decision between the 50 & 60
hi friend i m very thank full to you to learn me this way. its very help full tutorial from your side. i m little bit confused can tell which one. is good camera betwen canon sx50hs, sx60hs and sony dsc hx400v. what are the advantages n disadvantages between them. please hlep me.
I'm thinking of getting this Canon SX60 HS.
I just upgraded from the sx40
Thank you very much for your great video!!! It helped me a lot!!! I think I will keep my SX50 a little longer
enrimt Cool, its a pleasure!
Greetings from New Jersey, USA...great video, thank you...going to purchase the SX60, worth the extra $150.00...
machia0705 Cool! Glad I could help you choose the right camera.
@10:10 But if you shoot in Raw will the 16MP sensor be better then 12MP sensor with a point and shoot camera?
Impresive review...you really gave me all I needed to know about the camera and I'll start watching your show, it seems very very useful and interesting. Thanks for sharing all this
+Edward Alenko Its a pleasure Edward. Enjoy the show :)
How is the quality when shooting indoors in low light, for example in a school auditorium for a play, graduation, awards ceremony, etc. where lights are dim (or off) in the audience and stage is more brightly lit?
Great insight,
I'm about to choose myself, SX50 or 60?
I am now using a very old Olympus bridge again because my much newer Panasonic FZ62 the zoom wouldn't return after 8 months of little use. Eventually found only by taking out the batteries would turn it off. After about 4 months wrangling with Panasonic they gave me another but that went the same way, actually worse, the computer packed up completely! So I got a full refund.
I use a camera 50% video 50% photos. I had studied some reviews ref the pixel race, ie less = more!
So would it be possible to answer a few questions please?
PHOTOS I think = SX50
VIDEOS For things like Sunsets/timelapse, is there any difference between the length of timelapse & the number of frames?
Also movie length, is it appreciably different?
Is there a function on the SX50 to synchronise film/sound using my external mike anywhere, I thought it had a connector above the HDMI one, if so I could clip it to my lapel?
Which camera is best bearing in mind all of the above & by a % please?
Thanks a lot
irie0for0all irie.for.all Since you will be doing a lot of video I would go for the SX60, manual control as well external mic support. The SX50 does have better image quality when you zoom in 100%.
From zooming point of view which is better to buy cannon sx60 hs powershot or cannon eos 1300d dslr?
Its really amazing..... I have also canon sx60hs camera...... Thanks a lot.... Very nice video
Thx for the great review! I subscribed, I'm glad canon did away with the multi function wheel in back!, I & others would accidentally go to other functions using it, like when setting manual focus etc. Only wish it had a focus ring on the lens. That was a bad design.
Will be getting the SX60 thx in part to your review.
drfix2020 Cool, glad you enjoyed the review!
Thank you.
This was very informational and useful,
nephtalyr Its a pleasure!
Thanxx for the review. Can u tell me about fz70. Should I buy it.
Excellent help for deciding if I want to upgrade from my SX40 to this SX60. Thank You!
Hi Wendy, Its a pleasure!
Thank You so much!! Very good review.. It helped me a lot...
Murilo Zamboni Its a pleasure!
Excellent video... 👌 Great value... 👍
Very interesting. One question: the video seems to be restricted to 16 minutes max in one take... is that normal? How do I record a concert of say 60 minutes in video? (memory card is sufficient large).
Thanks for the video, now I am going to have to look up your other ones,
Just bought SX 60 and your video helped me a lot, thanks.
Thank you
Graham
Graham Bernard Thanks Graham. You can adjust the focus :) While you record you press the MF button and you can adjust the focus on the go. Nice feature, just a tad bit on the slow side. I prefer the manual focus ring on a lens. The histogram does not show while you record video. I will try and upload a video to my ftp server. RUclips changes the quality when you upload :)
How do I get access to how to shot high speed videos. I am going to Australia on Monday. I would like to view the video before I go.
I do like the better manual adjustment, but i'm happy with my SX50 for now although I would never really consider either of these to be very professional camera's. although they are decent for starters I would also love to see a Mic input for the shoe.
14:49 that’s the sx50 you showing and I don’t think it get the same function to focus on the objects
when using video, as a vlogger does it auto focus on yourself if you move into shot or does it keep focusing on the background and keep you blurry.
Marek
+Marek Ryba Glad you enjoy the show Marek! I dont own the SX60 anymore so I cant check the settings for you. Sorry about that :)
Yes, l've watched them all and l've tried to follow closely. Thanks for your guidance
Joseph Canddy Cool. Its a pleasure!
thanks alot for this excellent video
can you help me how to shoot video with flash if i will shoot in dark area?
+Salem Alnaimi Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. You cannot use flash to shoot video. You need a constant light. There are lots of LED panels available online for shooting video.
