  • Let's have a discussion and get each others opinions about this topic. How do you feel? Do you think white people should join historic black organizations and attend black colleges? What about the struggles that these organizations had to fight through back in 1906 and 1911 and such to even exist in the current day? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section.

I will say it is weird seeing them in a historically black organizations , given the struggle our founders had to go through to have our own orgs and as well as that being the reason we started the divine 9 because we were not accepted in the white organizations or schools . But we also have to think that’s probably how they feel about us when we join their organizations. 💯

never forget what our people went through, and what we are going through right now, but to move on we must forgive. There is good and evil in all of us, and it’s our choice which we choose to feed. This is the lesson my elders have taught me, and it’s one I strive to remember, and live by always. I choose good, which will you choose?

I don’t think it’s weird to have white people in black sororities and fraternities. It’s not racist to have cultural boundaries to NOT be crossed.
It’s cool to marry outside. It’s cool to have sincere diverse friendships.. but can we please respect the Ancestor’s struggles enough to keep this aspect of our culture to ourselves?!
Why do we just let everybody come on in when they don’t do the same for us? The problem with bringing them in is they’ll learn the flavor, teach it to their people, and 100 years from now, act like they are the originators of the culture and white wash the faces of the founders!
They are already mimicking our step show styles which came from the fact the slaves could not use the drum, so they used their body to play.

We often embrace them, and I find that to be comforting. I never pledged, and I can’t speak to how their presence affects Divine 9 members, but when I contemplated pledging in college, I did find it refreshing that so many rules had been made to prevent and punish hazing. Basically, nobody can be outright discriminated against or abused during intake; so maybe embracing White pledges is an after-effect of those changes 🤷🏽‍♀️
Also, The University of Alabama is still keeping Black girls out of White sororities… I know a girl who rushed REPEATEDLY and never crossed. I wouldn’t want to feel rejected like that, so if the pledges are sincere and are learning while participating… maybe it’s not an awful thing
