June Millington and Fanny ~ "Summer Song"

- I must admit it's rare when I surprise myself with a Fanny cut, but when I started hearing “Summer Song” with those guitar parts I thought, “How did they get Jesse Ed Davis in the studio without my knowing?” Because it sounded exactly like him!
See, Jesse was a good friend of mine before he even played on “Doctor My Eyes.” He somehow found out about me, and would come over to Fanny Hill with his wife and we would jam for hours, hanging and laughing and carrying on. So fun! And of course I realized what a great player he was, and am grateful even now that he wasn't at all selfish with his guitar playing, in fact the opposite.He was so giving, so generous. And because he didn't try to hold on to anything, he passed so much on to me, and for that I am eternally grateful. I mean, like I said, I sound exactly like him without even realizing it!
"Summer Song" I wrote in the basement at Fanny Hill,, just trying to have fun because actually, I was depressed. So I tried to think of all the things that we used to do (or wanted to do) in the Svelts, that almost got us into trouble. But we would always stop just stop short of the line!
Enjoy to the max, please ~ this was recorded at Olympic in London, with Any Johns engineer (brother to Glyn); and Paul Buckmaster was always at the sessions because I asked him to teach me what he could about arranging, and he complied. Good times.
The band is on fire - Alice especially, with Jean close behind! What extreme fun. Talk about practically going outside the box. We really knew how to do "it," no matter what:))

I'm not a guitarist and usually can't pick out specific styles, but I do recognize the Davis sound here. He certainly made the rounds. I'm sure I saw him perform at some point. Obviously, I HEARD him many times.
