Thanks Tucker - i really enjoyed that day... nothing the museum would get excited about but just lots of nice things at regular intervals... perfect! Hope all well with you!
Speaking of ring-pulls, reminds me of my first go detecting. 1978, me so I’ll at school, bought a cheap thingy mail order for about $20. Took it straight to our local race track/show ground/footy oval. Four hours later and 99 ring pulls and one 1947 aussie penny!!! Of course, it was the heyday of ring-pulls,and there used to be a lot a drinking going on there 😊.
Yes Wayne i suspect the race track was the wrong place to start your detecting career!!!! But well done on the penny that would have made it all worthwhile when i were a lad!!!!
I very much enjoy your videos. It is possible to look into the distance and imagine Roman villas and times that were much wilder. The American dime was a Roosevelt dime with the image of Franklin Roosevelt on it. Cheers.
Another fantastic day out there Alexander. I went out Sunday morning and got one aussie 1920 threepence 95% silver and lots of junk🤣. And today a $2 coin and more scrap metal brass n copper lead, into the pile of scrap. Hope all is good.👍✌️🐨🤣
I suspect you can get a bit of money for all that' scrap when there is enough built up can't you Alan? And well done on the threepence - Good work! It's getting a bit warmer over here you'll be glad to hear… Finally! Hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas yes I've accumulated a lot of scrap over the year which I will take to the scrappers eventually 😉. Glad it's starting to warm up there, warm days here and cooler nights now. I suppose our winter is quite warm to your winters. All aok here.👍✌️
Lovely jetton! Not only does that pasture produce some amazing finds but it's been uncommonly kind to them - it can't have had too much fertiliser over the years.
I don't think it has Stefan that's I know it was ploughed in the wars but the soil up there is not very good for agriculture and it's been left for grazing and it was mainly park land before that...
Hi Alexander, What a great day a real mix , it always amazes me finding things like the dime in the middle of a British pasture field, having spent some time in the US military during the Vietnam conflict I was surprised of the size as modern dimes are about the size of out farthings , yours is probably high in silver where as modern US coins as sandwich made visible copper in the middle and silver on each side . Regards Jan .
Thank you very much for that Jan, very interesting… I haven't done much research on the dime yet but look forward to getting round to it! All the best, Alexander
Loved this video, nice gentle detecting, just how I like my detecting to go. The weather doesn’t matter as long as the finds are interesting , thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge, excellent detecting.

Another great video Alexander, well done. Again very much enjoying learning about counselling and artifacts as well as watching you dig them up. A perfect combination between field work and HQ teaching.
Very welcome. Forgive the typos. Fat fingers and predicted spelling is not a marriage made in heaven. I am now detecting the very Celtic site and next to a roman villa. I'll let you know how I do

Okay Albert, I'll keep it back for you and give it to you when you come over! Tell your grandmother it's safe in my hands!😂 and thank you for watching and hope all well! All the best, Alexander
It really was a great day for you! I had to laugh when you proved yourself wrong. Poor Tasci, my beasts have been sunbathing for a couple of weeks now. Hoping for the rain that is promised tomorrow. We are in Extreme Drought. Nice for the dogs, not for anything else.
My God Cyndye; one extreme to another… This weather in this world I just don't know... but it's got to be pretty nasty for Tasci not to go out- he can quite often sit it in the middle of the lawn, Very calmly sometimes, In the rain or snow or whatever!
@@HolzHammerSagas Mine are pretty much all weather critters too. We are at the tail end of a Nino pattern that put us into extreme drought. They are saying it should be flipping by late summer or early fall. We are so ready to have rain and back to normal seasons. There are also some mighty big solar flares right now. Northern Lights were seen in the Texas panhandle and Oklahoma. I saw the lights from west Texas in the 80's, so I know it was more intense then.
Wow, yes fantastic day Alex! Love that English Jetton, and the condition, as you say, is bonkersly good... 😍 Not many good days here, and I've had to cancel tomorrow due to a guest appearance from my girlfriend... That's it for 2 weeks now, if the weather forecast holds true... ⛈🌦 Ah well, more vicarious detecting here we come... Thanks 🙏 as ever matey... Bobby

one morning there in colchester it rained until noon, got hot in the afternoon, and a front came through and sleet came down. my, the weather can change so quickly.
It can always be a bit like that at this time of the year , cant it Jeff, but still, the weather these days, I just don't know it's a bit odd I must say… Anyway hope all well with you!
I know Ian, me too! But I really wanted to try and illustrate what a semi shallow target sounding good was in that field - It was just sods law! Anyway, hope all well with you and thank you very much as always for watching and all the best, Alexander
Good to see you back in good health and full of energy, Alex! Congratulations. 🙂 I also see that the Merriam Webster Dictionary has the pronunciation of 'crotal' as 'crottle'. Any thoughts?
Technically you would have thought that if that were that pronunciation it would have a double T as a single T changes the pronunciation of the"O" but who am I to question Merriam W?… I have never heard it pronounced crottle and I might stick with my crotal! Anyway, thank you very much for watching Spitalhatch and hope all well with you!
Delightful jetton and your other finds not too shabby at all 😄 Think I will be able to start detecting again here this week, snow almost gone and frost is almost out the ground although it is rather wet and muddy on top. 👍🇨🇦
@@HolzHammerSagas Well I got a new permission yesterday that was once an old Quaker meeting house, first signal was a bank of Montreal half penny token 1844 ! and next found three crotal bells all in the same hole !!! They are decorated on lower half and complete ringers, found several more coins from early 1900's including two silver dimes. Very happy and am back there today 😉🇨🇦
@@steveshepherd2712 Wow Steve sounds like a very good day! Well done! THREE decorated crotal bells is amazing I have never found three in one day thats just showing off! 😂 Hope the second trip went well and All the Best, Alexander
The dime came in in 1946 and is still minted today. If the date is between 1946 thru 1964 it will be silver. If it is post 1964 it is clad.....a copper mix. Well was that snow in the beginning of your video?? The jetton was a great find. Imagine all of those shallow targets you walked by.......all the while being rare gold and silver hammered coins!!! Ok holler back. Sorry been too busy....but yes.....I love Johnny Cash too!!! I will email you soon!!!
Very good Tim, thank you! And I probably am missing out on the odd target by not digging the shallow double beeps but I promise you, that pasture would look like a ploughed field if I dug everything on it - there wouldn't be an inch left in some areas not dug so I've got to be careful and use my common sense a bit!
@@HolzHammerSagas Ha Ha….I can lend you my wheel barrow! I have to say your English Jetton is amazing. Really nice find. Are you sure the farmer is not sowing artefacts rather than seed? Cheers.
Alexander, you are so spoilt. LOL .I'd happily dig a hundred ring pulls to find that coin. Oh the pain of living in a country with a very short coinage history. Congrats on your lovely finds.
Sorry Brian, we are very spoilt here and I think most of us know it... do you manage to get over to Europe to detect ever? Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
Alexander, thanks for another really interesting film. I know this is a bit left field, but, have you tried Grub boots? I don't know if your Barbour's are warm enough but I use Grub Frostline boots and only need a thin pair of socks underneath. I'm saving for my first detector and it's mainly down to you that I'm hooked on this hobby. Thanks again, Andy.

Roosevelt dime has to be 1959?! He wasn't on coins till after death in 1945. Value $2.65. Think they were 90% silver 10 % copper. Glad to see you out and moving very well. Cheers from Florida.

Rabbit net weights is a possibility Penny... I will put this one on thedetctinghub.co.uk as its bigger and gnarlier than the other ones I have found... hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas please come back to me when you have info. All three I have are the same size as yours I would say, although hard to tell from a video. None of mine are consistent in weight, at least not according to my old jewellery scales. All good here in rainy Devon thank you. Hope you are well too!
Not really any more Alex, but used to - never use the Deep program in a cokey area for one, and it does help when you are in an area full of coke not to have a sensitivity too high or reactivity too low...And coke sounds "fuzzy"and never clipped which is a bit of a giveaway to - it does make a difference but you are forgiven for digging it once or twice if you are unused to it in an area! Hope all well and thanks for watching
Lots of different methods for different coins I'm afraid Tinateske stop it; it's quite a tricky question - there are a couple of videos I have done on my other channel on cleaning bronze coins, cleaning silver coins, cleaning Roman coins you might want to have a look at… I'll dig out a link for you.
I thought about that Rex and you might well be right but it is very heavy and bigger than other rabbity type weights I have found but I think you might be right! Hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas I think it would be for a long net instead of a thrown one. The long net is strung up on poles kind of like a tennis net and the rabbits are driven into it with dogs. We used similar lead weights on seine nets when I was a kid. You pulled the net along a creek or pond one person on each side and the weights kept it on the bottom.

Thank you Doriano! And hope all well and good wishes from here too!
🎉🎉 fantastic video!! 🎉🎉
Thanks fly nn! 🙏 Hope all well with you!
Hi Alexander, great video once again. Entertaining and very informative. Have you ever thought about putting together a blooper reel? That ring pull dig made us laugh. All the very best to you and Tasci. Gary
Ha! Thanks Gary - a blooper reel is a brilliant idea!!!! 😂 I will def keep it in mind now before trashing certain clips!!! Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
As always great finds! I found a jetton (jeton) a few weeks back and found the use of them very interesting. 🙂🐻
I love finding them I find a lot fewer than hammered silver! Hope all well Ted - thanks for watching!
You earned my subscription today Sir!
Ha! Thanks Paul! 🙏 Much appreciated and hope all well!
Cracking English jetton I've only ever found 3 in all the years I've been detecting I did manage to find a Stephen cut half the other day..👍👍
I think three is still pretty good Vlad!!! Not common as you know... hope all well! and nice work on the Stephen too!
Yes, That dime is President Franklin D. Roosevelt and I believe it's silver. Wonderful finds especially the Constantinople coin and the strap end.
Cheers.
Thanks Wadoman! Good to know; it was a first for me - something a bit different anyway! Hope all well and Thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
You are the gentleman of metal detecting Alex. Another great video, captivating to watch, with some lovely finds. Thank you!
Thank you very much Paul, I'm glad you enjoyed it! And hope all well with you! 🙏
well done alex great video as always
Thanks Dazza, as always 🙏 ! Hope all well!
All aok here.👍✌️
@@AussieAl420 Good stuff Allan!
Brilliant finds again Alexander. That field just keeps giving! Thanks for posting, regards, John.
Thanks John - it really does its a real surprise, but i am having to dig deeper and listen harder!!!! Hope all well!
Hi Alexander,
What a great day a real mix , it always amazes me finding things like the dime in the middle of a British pasture field, having spent some time in the US military during the Vietnam conflict I was surprised of the size as modern dimes are about the size of out farthings , yours is probably high in silver where as modern US coins as sandwich made visible copper in the middle and silver on each side .
Regards Jan .
Thank you very much for that Jan, very interesting… I haven't done much research on the dime yet but look forward to getting round to it! All the best, Alexander
Excelent finds as always, thanks for sharing. 😀 Next week I'm finaly back to England to detect, away from the frosen ground in Norway.
Cool! Where are you going to be? Good luck and I look forward to hearing how you get on! All the Best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas Norfolk area, meeting up with some local friend witch arranges the permissions. Thanks
@@knutovekihle5001 Very good! Good luck!
Loved this video, nice gentle detecting, just how I like my detecting to go.
The weather doesn’t matter as long as the finds are interesting , thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge, excellent detecting.
Thanks Jonny! That made for good reading! 😁🙏 Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
That's a rather gorgeous jetton Alexander, and thank you for the history lesson .
Your detecting videos are honestly the best and your enthusiasm is positively catching.
You've inspired me.
Thats very nice to know - Thank you Jay! 🙏 Hope you have had a good weekend and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
Another great video Alexander, well done. Again very much enjoying learning about counselling and artifacts as well as watching you dig them up. A perfect combination between field work and HQ teaching.
Thats very kind of you to say so; Thank you Anthony! 🙏 Hope all well and thanks for watching!
Very welcome. Forgive the typos. Fat fingers and predicted spelling is not a marriage made in heaven. I am now detecting the very Celtic site and next to a roman villa. I'll let you know how I do
@@anthonystanbury5537 sounds very exciting and promising let me know if you need a hand!
Hi Alexzander . Your enthusiasm is so uplifting thank you . What can I say a day of epic finds and artefacts. Stunning presentation Alex 💯👍 You most certainly will gain more viewers ,hopefully very soon . All the very best ,see you on the next day out. Just amazing permission's WOW
Thanks Phil! And hope you have had a good weekend - thanks for watching!
Another great video Alex. The shell mount is 1500-1700 scallop shell with a trefoil / fleur-de-lis at the top. I like those a lot 😊
Thanks Cath! Lovely little thing that! Hope all well! 😁
Another great video, very well done, Alexander. Lots of interesting finds. Keep up the good work. Much appreciated. Cheers 🥂
Thank you Robert! 🙏 And hope all well with you!
Thanks for another great video. I wish I could take in and hold all the info you have regarding emperors and dates and such like. Regards Gray.
Thanks Grahame! Hope all well with you and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
Great hunt Alexander. If the dime was 1929 its silver. Lovely Jetton
I think it was a bit later ... I couldn't read it properly and I think its copper - thing is i cant find it now to check it! Anyway, thanks as always for watching Don and hope all well!
Great video mate always amazing finds...
PS I think my grandmother lost that US Dime...lol Stay well, I'm glad to see your doing well. Al, NJ, USA.
Okay Albert, I'll keep it back for you and give it to you when you come over! Tell your grandmother it's safe in my hands!😂 and thank you for watching and hope all well! All the best, Alexander
Wot no ring pulls - still a bloomin entertaining video though Alex 😊
Ha! 😁 Thanks Andrew! Hope all well!
@@fiberotter they have been seen very far south in the UK recently; its normally limited to the North Coast and Isalnds of Scotland...
Bobby
Guest Appearacnce from you girlfriend?! That should be banned!!!! 😂 And the weather doesn't look too good and by the time it clears up all the spring crops will have come through! Anyway, keep yer pecker up Bobby!
@@HolzHammerSagas Ha, yes def. agree on the 'banning' of my GF in the 'working/detecting week' Alex... 😁 Yes, weather lookin' very dodgy, tho' poss. changing in about 2 weeks 🙏 Take care then ombre, and good to see you're recovering nicely... B x
@@UkuleleBobbyKemp 😂
one morning there in colchester it rained until noon, got hot in the afternoon, and a front came through and sleet came down. my, the weather can change so quickly.
It can always be a bit like that at this time of the year , cant it Jeff, but still, the weather these days, I just don't know it's a bit odd I must say… Anyway hope all well with you!
Great lil video mate id love to find some small roman coins not bloody ring pulls lol keep up the great work, 👍😎👍
I know Ian, me too! But I really wanted to try and illustrate what a semi shallow target sounding good was in that field - It was just sods law! Anyway, hope all well with you and thank you very much as always for watching and all the best, Alexander
Good to see you back in good health and full of energy, Alex! Congratulations. 🙂
I also see that the Merriam Webster Dictionary has the pronunciation of 'crotal' as 'crottle'.
Delightful jetton and your other finds not too shabby at all 😄
Think I will be able to start detecting again here this week, snow almost gone and frost is almost out the ground although it is rather wet and muddy on top. 👍🇨🇦
Good luck Steve - good to know that you can soon get out... Do let us know of anything interesting you find! Hope all well!
You had better start digging those ring pull Roman coins! Cheers.
I know Warren but I won't be strong enough to carry them all off the field! Hope all well!
@@HolzHammerSagas Tis on my bucket list to do just that. One day, fingers crossed.
Thanks Andy! What machine are you saving for? Good luck with it and thanks for the boot advice; I have several pairs of wellingtons of differing warmth and good socks too - I am afraid I won't be changing them but thanks all the same! Hope all well and thanks for watching! All the Best, Alexander
@@HolzHammerSagas I've been advised that the Minelab Equinox 540 is a good machine for the money but am open to suggestions around the same price point 👍
@@andygall9397 Dont know much about Minleab - can you budget stretch to an 800 I have heard they are good...

Barry I have no idea! Sorry! Ring up one of the big Metal detecting Dealers they wlll know! Try LP, they are very helpful and good luck! All the Best, Alexander
Roosevelt dime has to be 1959?! He wasn't on coins till after death in 1945. Value $2.65. Think they were 90% silver 10 % copper. Glad to see you out and moving very well. Cheers from Florida.
I think I mis-read the date Michele; I haven't really looked at it properly since as I was cleaning up the older finds but I will devote a good chunk of my day today to American coin research! And get back to you! Hope all well and thank you very much for watching - All the best, Alexander
Pozdrav iz Hrvatske,iz blizine Siscie😉
Super mi kad nadjes rimski novcic kovan u Siscii, kako li su samo dospjeli u Englesku...
No idea GG but we find a few from mints all over Europe - send me your address and I will send you the next Siscia coin I find - unless you have a lot already!!! Hope all well and All the Best, Alexander
Would love to know what the cylinder lead weight type thing is for / from and the age. I have found 3 highly crusted ones in one field.
@@HolzHammerSagas did you get a response from the portable antiquities page re these weights?
Great video as always. Uv obviously mastered the “lite” but do you ever get cought out by coke?
Not really any more Alex, but used to - never use the Deep program in a cokey area for one, and it does help when you are in an area full of coke not to have a sensitivity too high or reactivity too low...And coke sounds "fuzzy"and never clipped which is a bit of a giveaway to - it does make a difference but you are forgiven for digging it once or twice if you are unused to it in an area! Hope all well and thanks for watching
How do you clean your coins please?
Lots of different methods for different coins I'm afraid Tinateske stop it; it's quite a tricky question - there are a couple of videos I have done on my other channel on cleaning bronze coins, cleaning silver coins, cleaning Roman coins you might want to have a look at… I'll dig out a link for you.
The lead bit looks like it might be a net weight. Maybe for rabbits.
You pulled the net along a creek or pond one person on each side and the weights kept it on the bottom.
hallo 🍀🍀🍀
i'll come visit you✌✌
