I walked 800km across Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro

- Aren't you afraid of hiking alone through rural Tanzania?
This is the question I got over and over again a month before departing. My goal was to summit Kilimanjaro from sea to sea.
Hiking from the Indian Ocean to climb Mount Kilimanjaro was probably one of the most challenging things I've ever done.
The heat, blisters and long distances wore me down even from before I got to the town of Moshi.
It took 12 days to even get to the start of Umbwe Gate, the start of the Umbwe route.
When I arrived I wasn't in any state to climb the highest freestanding mountain in the world, but this is exactly what I wanted when I set this goal - a next level challenge.
This crazy journey is the second of 7.
My end goal is to climb each continent's highest mountain (the 7 Summits) from sea level, and back to sea level.

Hey, I wanted to say that I really enjoy this entire project and wanted to support you with this message! I think you're really underrated and I really hope your channel can help you more in funding the project 😊
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos! I really appreciate your comment, thank you for your kind words 🙏
That shot is unreal.. a floating summit
Although this journey is mostly about those seven summits, I enjoy to see these mezmerizing countries through your eyes no less.
I love the no fancy bullsh1t approach of the things too. I wish you all the luck and strength for the upcoming peaks, and already can't wait for your next upload 😉
Carry on, Cris!
Thank you mate 🙏🏻
“Just get it done” made me chuckle! Incredible landscape, fantastic video.
You are insane 😂😂
As a Tanzanian,You earned my respect.Man your adventureos I will have to story tell this to my friends,What you did is crazy hard work+ grit+courageous🎉 even locals won't dare let alone tourist/foreigners.Ahsante kwa kuitangaza Tanzania 🇹🇿 karibu tena.
@@Halphan-cw3de Thank you so much 🙏🏻
I can't remember when I first heard about this project, but it's turning out super fantastic. Well done mate.
You're a legend mate, I love this adventure of yours. Hiking 40 km day after day in the African heat, that's actually insane. You're a huge inspiration to us regular guys who dream of the big mountains too. In a few days I'll try to hike to above 2000 meters for the first time, 20 km and 1000 meters of altitude. "It's not about being positive, it's about getting it done", I'll try to remember that haha
Thank you for the kind words mate. Enjoy the mission, it sounds great!
What a journey! So cool to see this part of the world and through your eyes!
Looking forward to part 2. Following from your insta the ascent wound up super chill and couldn't have gone much better!

humidity and traffic are absolutely crazy there! I use myself a mental trick about focus on every day thing rather than the whole picture. Anyways, you are incredible and I am waiting what's next to see how you smashing it!
Thank you Viktoria! 💪
Really enjoy watching your adventures. To continue walking with that heat and those feet, massive achievement. Hope you succeed on your 2nd peak.
@@susanbucknall9296 Thank you 🙏🏻
A lil’ tip about blisters...if you use a needle & thread to lance through & then leave the thread running through it & cover with a bit of surgical tape, it will fully drain & not seal-up & refill again. Once fully dry just pull out the thread.
I used to wear NB Heirro’s as my trail shoes along with Darn Tough socks, but having now switched to Topo Athletic & only wear Injinji socks, it’s been a game changer.

Respects mate. Bragging rights earned!
Fascinating video, Cris. It must be sheer determination that keeps you going. I wouldn't have lasted beyond the first day in that heat. Looking forward to seeing the climb.
At the end of that first day, I was surprised I lasted too in all honesty 😂Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Another great video my friend , looking at you walking on those roads make me felt like walking by your side but then inside me thinking " este hombre esta completamente loco , a que horas sale algun animal salvaje ? , Your wife will know what I just said . Looking forward for your next video .

I'm so excited, but what's touch me is you two guys. I so wish I was so fortunate to find a partner that you two have done.
Madalin, you are a superhuge inspiration.
I really hope to meet you guys before I end my days.
As always, thanks so much for the kind words Rino 🙏
I hope we get to meet one day too!
And yes, I'm eternally grateful that I met Viv☺
Never remove a blister patch until you're home 🤣
😂😂😂

Great watch! Have you heard of: walking/hiking wool? It’s anti pressure & anti inflammatory and works wonders for blisters. Way better than tape or band aids. Highly recommend.
Thanks for the video. Looking forward to the next part. Cheers!
I'll check it out!
Good stuff, look forward to the climb episodes.
Was not expecting the Cris karaoke 😂
Super. Felicitări!❤❤❤❤
maybe i'm an idiot but that sure looks like a plantain and not a banana at 11:10
you know other languages don't differentiate between plantains and bananas, right?
Great stuff!
Very nice
You need to wear toe socks - they help tremendously with rubbing and sweaty toes. Also, try wider barefoot style shoes like Altra or Vivobarefoot. A foot conversation is a whole body conversation!
