I like to imagine that Queen was actually completely level headed and calm when she was first brought into existence but constant exposure to millions and millions of memes warped her into a personification of the moden-day internet's sense of humor.
In my opinion, it's not only because the chapter is computer-themed, but also because the writing got better. You never get bored, you have fun even when you're just reading dialogue and sometimes the game takes a break and lets the wacky characters be honest. In comparison, Undertale's humor is mostly laughing at characters.

I think my favorite part about Queen is that, yes, as everyone notes, she absolutely has shitposting/internet meme energy and it's _fantastic_ But it would have been easy, _so_ easy, to get there by basically having her quote every latest IRL meme. It's not like there'd be a shortage of material either! The audience would understand exactly what Toby would have been going for! In that moment, at least. Because it's the nature of memes to proliferate like mad, but it's also the nature of memes to have a very short lifespan. Taking that route would have been felt cheap, and made what makes her character great short-lived But Toby manages to encapsulate the fun and the things we like about all those memes without actually using a _single one_ in Queen's dialogue Which is sooo much harder to do but _absolutely_ well worth the effort Just Wow the writing is amazing and I love it to bits, excellent work Toby
The real memelords aren't the ones that spam old memes, it's the ones that make their own. Queen perfectly does this and it feels natural for her character.
I mean, basically. She literally called Kris "Kris cross applesause" and says right after that "mathematical wavelength, you get me Kris. You do not do crazy things like 'have opinions' or scream when I capture you, or tell me horrible plans for smart boy theme park." Then the "whoops that was my extra dangerous glass" pretty sure Toby just picked out some memes and bone hurting juice memes and just made that Queen's personality. It kills me, Toby did a great job.
Given what you'd assume her age is, the fact that she only plays mobile games is actually quite realistic as those tend to have the largest demographics being middle-aged women. Well, it depends ON the mobile game of course, but the most realistic situation is that she's referring to those match-three games and such, since noone would really call COD or Minecraft a mobile game, despite that they have mobile versions.

the care she feels for Noelle and also Kris to a degree (as she gets concerned theyre gonna get sick if they dont pick up the banana) is actually very endearing
Jokes aside, when Noelle asks Queen why she specifically wants her to be her peon and believes it because she is weak, and Queen counteracts this, it really shows that Queen isn't a villain at all, really. She's seen Noelle's search history. She knows of all the tragedy in her life, and how much she's had to put up with. And how well she's put up with it as well - her entire family is either missing, dying, or overbearing, and she still manages to put up with Berdly of all people. Queen is more of a mother figure than Noelle's mother, or at least tries to be, as much as a computer can. Queen is misguided due to her being a computer and liable to falicy, but she's also very... human, despite this. As flawed a human as Berdly or Susie or Kris or even Noelle, but still capable of feeling just like we see everyone express in some way or another.
After the Spade King, all sorts of theories on a possible Spade Queen-type character went every which way, but NONE of them was prepared for, well, this.

Not really. Unlike Papryrus, she CAN actually kill you. You can die in her fights. Papryrus doesn't kill you, he just sends you to his garage prison which you easily break out of and try again.
Best character 10/10 Okay but on a serious note, she's kind of nice. She saw Noelle's sad search history and wanted to make her happy (Queen's really bad at that though), even if it makes her an evil villain.
Well, technically, Ralsei probably isnt a Lightner, but at this point its clear hes no ordinary darkner either. He doesnt turn into a statue outside his own world, and has great knowledge of the light world. Plus, his fountain is appearently made of "pure" darkness, and probably wasnt created by the Knight, and hes the only native to his dark world

I feel like people are overblowing the banana thing. It's not what I'd call an obsession. The first time, it's an item in a long list of orders she gives in the car (literally BACKSEATING, as it were). Use directional controls. Don't hit the cars. Actually hit the cars. Get the banana. Don't ask why. It could be argued that it's relevant to Queen's obsession with coddling Noelle, but the banana is really the punchline to a subtler joke. The second time, it's just a callback to the first joke. Another side-scrolling vehicle with directional controls. Another instance of Queen distracting herself with Kris's piloting. "Make sure you don't miss this random bullshit." Again, the keyword is backseating.
I just assume she didn't see her. I mean, if she saw and recognized Noelle, even if she didn't have the means to trap her right then... wouldn't she at least _comment_ on it?

When I first saw the queen in the screenshots, I expected her to be just as evil as the king (well, sure she has brainwashed her servants and turned them into freakish monsters) But what I got was this mixture between papyrus and lancer (enjoy’s puzzles, and is somewhat clumsy and comedic, like lancer, as well as stock explosion sound effects) and not only that, despite being evil, it’s actually kinda wholesome that the queen was actually worried about Noelle Perhaps a more cockier, smug, and maybe overly confident version of papyrus. But overall, what a great character

I think my favorite part about Queen is that, yes, as everyone notes, she absolutely has shitposting/internet meme energy and it's _fantastic_
But it would have been easy, _so_ easy, to get there by basically having her quote every latest IRL meme. It's not like there'd be a shortage of material either! The audience would understand exactly what Toby would have been going for!
In that moment, at least.
Because it's the nature of memes to proliferate like mad, but it's also the nature of memes to have a very short lifespan. Taking that route would have been felt cheap, and made what makes her character great short-lived
But Toby manages to encapsulate the fun and the things we like about all those memes without actually using a _single one_ in Queen's dialogue
Which is sooo much harder to do but _absolutely_ well worth the effort

Given what you'd assume her age is, the fact that she only plays mobile games is actually quite realistic as those tend to have the largest demographics being middle-aged women. Well, it depends ON the mobile game of course, but the most realistic situation is that she's referring to those match-three games and such, since noone would really call COD or Minecraft a mobile game, despite that they have mobile versions.
The most interesting part is she is quite aware of this stereotype if this is the case.

Jokes aside, when Noelle asks Queen why she specifically wants her to be her peon and believes it because she is weak, and Queen counteracts this, it really shows that Queen isn't a villain at all, really.
She's seen Noelle's search history. She knows of all the tragedy in her life, and how much she's had to put up with. And how well she's put up with it as well - her entire family is either missing, dying, or overbearing, and she still manages to put up with Berdly of all people.
Queen is more of a mother figure than Noelle's mother, or at least tries to be, as much as a computer can. Queen is misguided due to her being a computer and liable to falicy, but she's also very... human, despite this. As flawed a human as Berdly or Susie or Kris or even Noelle, but still capable of feeling just like we see everyone express in some way or another.

Well, technically, Ralsei probably isnt a Lightner, but at this point its clear hes no ordinary darkner either. He doesnt turn into a statue outside his own world, and has great knowledge of the light world. Plus, his fountain is appearently made of "pure" darkness, and probably wasnt created by the Knight, and hes the only native to his dark world

The computer room has a room where it's specifically said that a person could fit, Ralsei might actually be a lightneer due to his knowledge of the school layout, that and the fact that Kris room in the Dark world is a perfect reproduction of his regular room

I feel like people are overblowing the banana thing. It's not what I'd call an obsession.
The first time, it's an item in a long list of orders she gives in the car (literally BACKSEATING, as it were). Use directional controls. Don't hit the cars. Actually hit the cars. Get the banana. Don't ask why. It could be argued that it's relevant to Queen's obsession with coddling Noelle, but the banana is really the punchline to a subtler joke.
The second time, it's just a callback to the first joke. Another side-scrolling vehicle with directional controls. Another instance of Queen distracting herself with Kris's piloting. "Make sure you don't miss this random bullshit." Again, the keyword is backseating.

When I first saw the queen in the screenshots, I expected her to be just as evil as the king (well, sure she has brainwashed her servants and turned them into freakish monsters) But what I got was this mixture between papyrus and lancer (enjoy’s puzzles, and is somewhat clumsy and comedic, like lancer, as well as stock explosion sound effects) and not only that, despite being evil, it’s actually kinda wholesome that the queen was actually worried about Noelle
Perhaps a more cockier, smug, and maybe overly confident version of papyrus. But overall, what a great character
