    Even if Kraft fires Belicheck, i don't know why the hell he would do it during the season. It would be a slap in the face of everything they've done to this point and the season is already over. The roster needs an overhaul and even a coaching change wouldn't fix that.

      An in-season firing would be perfect. Kraft can then tell Mayo to tank for the remainder of the season. In the 2024 draft, the Patriots can pick quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, and offensive lineman in that order. It's called a rebuild. This team hasn't had one in years.

    Most Pats fans don't want Bill the Coach out, they want Bill the GM out, and at this point don't care if that means getting a GM or firing him altogether. It's hard to see them firing him mid-season though.

      No point in firing him in season really, the team is still Fubar.
      As far as keeping him as just coach, ehh, coaches historically lose their touch once they get past a certain age. It is very clear, he has lost all touch at managing an offense. At the very least you would need to have an OC be given absolute free reign on his side of the ball. Could Belichik handle being a glorified DC?

    • @drygnfyre
      @drygnfyre Год назад +1

      It's inevitable. Every franchise has their glory years come to an end. The Showtime era for the Lakers was over by the end of the 80s. The 90s Yankees dynasty was dead after 2000. The Cowboys won 2 out of 3 Super Bowls in the 90s, and haven't even been back to a conference championship since. If you're a fan of any given team, you hate to see the end of the glory years, but it's inevitable. The Patriots had a great run, but it's over. They're now "just another team."

    Name one coach as successful as bellicheck in the salary cap era. Bill installed an OC and has consistently provided top 10 defenses every year. Everyone asked for a qb, we got a qb, we missed. Only 1/3 first round qbs succeed in the nfl. No coach has had to build a team after a qb like tom leaves. Everyone just hates the patriots and wants to see bill go down in a ball of flames.

    It's pronounced Vo-lynn. His nickname around here is Trollin' Vollin, because that's what 90% of his articles are about. There's absolutely zero chance bill will be fired if they lose in Germany. Why? Because the Patriots are losing their two best defensive players, and they just lost their two best wide receivers. Of course the teams going to suck, you can't put that all on Bill. If you don't have the talent on the field, you can't put too much blame on the coach. Wait until the team is back and healthy, that's when you can make a real decision, whether or not to keep him

NE needs to do a total rebuild but with a lot of cap space and a draft deep in offensive talent, they could turn around to at least be competitive very quickly.

    I imagine Belichick will finish out this year and they'll PR spin his departure to be either retirement or some "Mutual parting of the ways". The NFL is generally harsh and unsentimental about moving on, but in his case New England is likely to play the sentimental card. But they will move on from him, short of them running the table the rest of the year.
