Omggg. A tutorial for Double Bass! I'm so grateful with you. Keep going!
That is just fantastic. I play a regular bass but to hear the double bass breakdown gives me a better appreciation of the feel/groove of the song which helps me a lot. Also, I found some of the notes on the original hard to hear, probably because I’m not familiar with the double bass sound. Thanks for sharing!
Really glad you found it useful Rob, thanks for commenting! What kind of bass do you play? I’ve got a 65’ Fender Mustang, I’m not the best on bass guitar, but it’s great to play.
I play a Fender CB60SCE acoustic, a Peavey Milestone electric and Kala U-bass Spruce top. I use la Bella black nylon strings on the acoustic, La Bella 0760M flatwounds (Motown standards) on the electric and Road Toad Pahoehoe polyurethane strings on the U-bass. All of those strings are double bass emulators of sorts. The 0760 strings were used on most of the Mowtown classics.
Wow! I love your tutorial Of this song!
It's one of my favorites. Its lovely to see fans
Recreating This bass.♡♡♡Your very talented♡♡♡.
Such a great song isn't it! It just had to be covered
This was one of the first riffs I learnt when I got my bass but haven't played it for so long.
I'm enjoying your content so much. I've just hit the subscribe button.
I like to use my bow on my bass. Do you use a bow? I simply love the deep and rich sound. Though I play bass (as well as saxophone and clarinet) ultimately, I class myself as a drummer. I taught my son to play when he was 12 years old. For the past five years, he is the drummer in a band (Two Of Substance). They have played The Cavern in Liverpool amongst other venues. They have got their second album coming out next month. All their music is on youtube and Vevo.
Although I taught him, he is streets ahead of me, so I look upon it as 'Well done Dad, the boy done good.'
Such a great riff isn’t it! So glad you’re enjoying the content!
I don’t really play bow, I can a little but it’s not at all my forte, I’m definitely a jazz and rockabilly bassist. I also play piano and oboe, they were my main instruments until I started playing bass 6 years ago.
So great to hear about your son, how brilliant! And playing at The Cavern too, I bet that was an amazing experience. I’m going to head over and check out the band now!
Wow I really wish I had watched this before recording an entire cover. I played so many wrong notes :'(' '
If they worked, they worked! Covers don’t need to be an exact copy, I bet it sounds great!
I just acquired a double bass. I hope to make this my first song to play, after some regular practice. Thank you!😊
Welcome to the club! Let me know how you get on ☺️
I'd love a double bass but it's bigger than my flat lol great playing btw, I'm sure when the cure played this on totp's in 83 he used a double. Cheers
Thank you ☺️♥️ you could always go for a stick bass if space is an issue… not being a bad influence or anything… 😉🤣
Rockin'! Thank you so much for breaking this down! :D
Thanks for this, I always loved this song now I'm going to learn it.
Gordon Baldwin brill, let me know how you get on!
Coolio! Excellent.
have you ever played a Fiberglass Upright?
No but I’d absolutely love to! Looked at them a few years back. So cool
Love the new intro
Gordon Baldwin thanks 😊
How about you use metal strings?
Not my bag, tried them a few times and not a fan tbh.
Learning so much in just a few lessons. Great teaching style, very patient. Just got my first DB but it's set up for jazz. Any tips on how to set it up for Rockabilly i.e. strings, pickup, action etc?
Hey Chuck, great to hear we’ve got another one to the clan! Set up is a bit personal preference, BUT, you need your strings high enough to just hook the pads of your fingers under (not the whole finger), many people start higher then lower it over time. Pick up I would 100% recommend the Shadow Rockabilly Pro and strings, most slap players prefer synthetic. I use Rotosounds, but Innovation Rockabilly Blacks or Reds are great, and lots of people also use Silverslaps too.
Happy learning man and keep rockin’
Hey! Thanks for your awesome tutorials! Best ones yet! By the way, i was wondering what should I use to polish my upright bass?
Thanks Aaron! I have Bella Cura to polish mine, and a nice soft cloth
Brilliant!!!!!!
Thank you!
Thanks very much for this tutorial, it was very helpful! May I ask what strings you're using?
Thanks Lee. Yeah, they’re Rotosounds, I love them but have some new ones to try soon. Gonna pop a video up of how I find them
Awesome job
Thank you ☺️
Does your Bass have Myrtle wood back and sides? Thanks!
If I’m honest, I’m really not sure! Someone once told me it was an Australian redwood...
I live in Kent too 😂
The Un-Known Musician lovely county isn’t it!
you're brilliant, you demystify or rather make things really easy to understand, thanks
Thanks Wayne ☺️ glad you like the video! Keep rockin’ x
Madame! You are splendid!! Thank you for the tutorials and (to the lads as well) for the tunes.
Thank you ☺️
Oh my dear Serena, you got rhythm in your soul, thanks a lot to make a tutorial from my favourite The Cure Song "The Love Cats". Now i can try it on my double bass, you gave me this great idea :-)
Best regards from the "male bass pixie" from Leverkusen/Germany, where you *Bamboozle* played two times at the "Topos Club"....and we hope that one day you'll find the way back to our club to play;-))
Bye and god bless you.
Ah Rosario, thank you ❤️ what a great song it is! I hope you have loads of fun learning it on your double bass!!!
I’m sure we’ll be back, I wouldn’t miss Leverkusen again for the world, what a wonderful place and people.
Lots of love from the UK
@@BamboozleHQ Thank you for these beautiful words. See ya, let's Rock'n'Rollin'......🥰
You are amazing thanks is one of my fave songs
Thank you ☺️❤️🎵 have fun learning it!
Love this :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I played the double bass back in the early 80’s at high school for about 5 years, sadly not since. Then about 6 months ago I started day dreaming about playing it again. I’ve just acquired a double bass again, it’s amazing hoy the muscle memory has the notes an rhythm, but lost the ability to read music. Love cats is the one song I wanted to pick up first - so a huge thank you this is great to get me restarted.
Hey Dave, this is so great to hear! I love that you’ve come back to it after all this time. So glad you’ve found the videos helpful ☺️
@@BamboozleHQ Thank you, you videos are very inspiring, Your teaching is well paced, building up the music, I’m going to spend a lot of time learning from you. Thank you for sharing these with the world :-)
@@daverei1211 thanks for your lovely feedback! This makes it worth doing them ☺️
I just added all your (Bamboozle) songs to my Spotify account!
Hope you’ll be learning to play them next!
@@BamboozleHQ me too I recently acquired a 1945 Kay bass! Needs some repair, so it's off to the luthier for me! Your lessons are fabulous! Rock on!
@@toddrhodes614 oh wow, a Kay! I’m so jealous, that’s my dream bass right there! I hope you can get it in lovely working order.
@@BamboozleHQ yes, definitely no problem! I've restored a couple violins, guitars and antique furniture. 1945 Kay! It's a piece of history! Will most assuredly treat her with TLC!
The bass you're using in your videos is GORGEOUS! Talk about jealous! I'm green!
I want you in Rome, came in Rome, you are very particular woman.
I’d love to come to Rome. Italy rocks 🇮🇹
I would like know you, very nice girl, are you live in London?
I live in the south with my partner and family.
Do you have a baby?
@@manfredimanfredi5764 I have two!
Thanks for this. I've been trying to learn this on electric bass but I could never get that run out of the middle section. All the bass tabs I've found for it have been woeful on that bit. :)
Glad it helped. Such a brilliant song!
