I played decades ago with D&D (yes before AD&D) and agreed to DM for 5 family members ranging from 8 to 45 during their visits here. We manage 2-3 sessions each visit, once a quarter. They are all new to D&D and roleplaying, and I am learning how to make tiles and buildings from foam. I've actually developed a bespoke tile system that stops the tiles moving around and allows for quicker set up. Then I came across your site and all the techno wizardry in it and kicked things up a level. I didn't tell anyone, but for our New Year's games, I used your Voicemod video. I made a surround table top for the pool table for the players to set up on. Then used the pool table bed to lay out a cave system. I covered that with a box made from foam, then put an upper level on top of the foam box so it was like they were descending. I hid some tiny speakers inside the terrain (basically foam pillars & columns with the bottom hollowed out) inside the lower level. With voicemod already running background, I switched to my work Jabra headphones and used voicemod voice changer for a magic mouth spell. They were all so excited by it, the result was great, and it was pretty much free. I did try the throat mike, but got a cheap one and it wasn't great. The Jabra's noise canceling was spot on though (they are £120+ so it should be). The whole thing was terrific and I used voicemod a few times during the sessions. Next I need to work out fog/smoke, hopefully with not too much moisture or I will ruin the cloth 🙂 Keep up the site, it's terrific

Very cool, I have VoiceMod... but I find it almost impossible to use it in "real-life" because the slight delay caused by the voice processor makes it SO HARD to talk because I can hear myself 0.25 seconds later and it just messes with my brain :D
Yeah I agree, any delay can make it troublesome, which is why I mostly use a wired speaker. One thing I do enjoy most is not so much the voice altering, but the weight it can give your voice with reverb and distortion. Almost like a flavour on top of your actual voice, rather than completely replacing it. This extended demo I did here does a better job of showing that ruclips.net/video/0mQbUMBnLpk/видео.html
Finding you channel was the biggest wallet drain! So many good ideas to add to my gaming table! Already I've added StreamDeck with lights. I think I'll skip on the voice mod. It would be nice for online games, but for "on premise" I'm not convinced.
Thanks for watching, yeah my wallet has been hurting too 😅 (especially on all the stuff that doesn't make the cut). I've always thought of the stuff I do on this channel as experimental as I try out different ideas. My goal is atmosphere and immersion, and not every idea will fit everyone's game table. So I'm extremely happy to see people take what inspires them or find alternatives that suit them better.
Awesome stuff!! I think some of the effects are a bit much at times but I can see how some small amount of adjustment could take this even further!! So cool!!
Thanks mate, yeah I had a lot of fun playing with it, but you're spot on that it can be used with more subtle effects. Reckon I'll upload another demo dialing it down a smidge for people still curious.
Superb! Really enjoyed the video, and the simple instructions. When you use the throat microphone and software, do you need to speak softly so your actual voice doesn't interfere with what comes out of the speakers? Do you have an issue of that 'stereo' effect of the two voices, and if so - how do you minimise it?
Thanks mate! Yeah the beauty about the throat mic is it only picks up your throat vibrations, so no chance of it echo-ing. Can speak as loud as you want.
@@Atmoseeker That's brilliant, thanks for letting me know. I'm using the Amazon link in your description and looking forward to messing around with this idea.
have you considered using a shotgun microphone instead? there would be greater clarity and because of the polar pattern you wouldn't hear any background noise!
It’s great! Its a bit distracting though hearing your real voice at the sane time. Maybe its possible to kind of whisper and have your voice muted by the sound of the speakers?
Hey thanks for watching! Using it in game I tend to use it more as a modified echo. So the players mostly hear my voice, but with a modified aftertaste. You can see an extended demo here: ruclips.net/video/0mQbUMBnLpk/видео.html
I think it is a function of the throat microphone. You may be able to use an over the ear style mike that is close to your mouth to prevent the feedback issue he is trying to avoid with the throat mike. That will provide better clarity of sound.
Yes, sounds like I got carried away with some of the modulations 😅 . You can totally adjust the amount of modulation, this was using a lot of the "default" settings on each preset. When I get a chance, I'll upload a sample of some modulations with better speech clarity 👍

In which price range sits the throat mic you're using? Since the link leads to an Amazon page full of them. Thanks in advance!
Thanks mate! Sorry to hear you're struggling with the mic. I bought mine for about $15 AUD . It could be a couple of things. 1. The computer isn't picking up the mic correctly. You can try using a USB headset adapter instead of the regular mic jack 2. Noise reduction is too agressive. Windows might be trying to "Clean" audio and killing more of the signal than wanted. These might be able to be adjusted in the windows mic settings. 3. Check the Mute button on the mic isn't on (obvious but has happened to me for sure!)
@@Atmoseeker I've tried all steps, but the output is still distorted, like it only picking up my voice with intervals. Do you recommend any other mic (pricier ones are fine as well)?
