The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

How were these 2024 Playoffs overall? Were you thrilled, satisfied or bored??
Overall disappointed. Only great series was Timberwolves vs Nuggets
They weren't great I guess.
Too many injuries and blowouts.
@@icyblackoutKnicks Sixers? Knicks pacers? OKC and LAC v Mavs? Cavs magic?
Through the second round it was fire. A letdown thereafter.
They were not the best, but I still think they're fixed...
Jaylen Brown went from not being able to dribble with his left in 2022 to Larry Bird ECF mvp and Bill Russell Finals MVP
Jalen??
from not being able to shoot, or keep the ball off of his feet, to FMVP. Are people really claiming that jason-come-lately should be fmvp?
@@Jay_draco yes??
His foot work is fantastic. He has improved so much from last year.

1986 celtics, that team really has fucking nightmare front-court
They are mopping Tatum/Brown, Horford and Porzingis
Yeah, Jonny didn't even really want to go there and I don't blame him.

@@owensmith2137The question I have now is the 08 Celtics or 24 Celtics?
Those boys in 86 were the best passing team that I've ever seen. This years squad is great, but 86 was a different animal.
I am very glad you are mentioning their defense first. It's what hardly enough folks are talking about.
Because this era don't care about defense or rules for that matter😂
That's bs, even First Take and Undisputed brought up how deep the defense goes for Boston
@bluntsensei he said hardly enough not everyone fuckboy
Warriors fans saying that the Warriors would’ve beaten this Celtics defense is hilarious
They have offense and defense 1-5 tho, if Tatum is the weakest defender you are in a great position and if derrick white is the worst offensive player you are also in a great position
Good luck in your new place. The fact that you're doing any content at all during the stress of a move shows how dedicated you are and I for one appreciate it. Your videos are always a relaxing form of entertainment after a hard day of work. Thank you!
Man, that means a lot, and I seriously appreciate it! Happy that my videos help you relax after work, even for just a short time 👍
Was never in doubt. Time to repeat and time to change my account name
Repeating ain't easy Celtics got an easy run this time around lets see what happens next year
Of course u could change it to only2bannerssince86....but that's up to you.😊
Repeating in this age ain’t happening.
They won almost all of them before your parents were born
at least someone cares about those championships from 50+ years ago lol
As a lifelong Celtics fan (started watching basketball at 7 in 1986) I love the 1980s Celtics and I believe that is the best team we've had. Now, this year's team is in the fight for the second best, but I don't think it's a clear cut when you compare them to the 2007 team. Now, if they are able to repeat next year, there will be no doubt.
Agreed! Recency bias gave them amnesia on how stacked the 08 celtics. KG would've killed both Al and KP at the same time. They can even throw Tillman on the mix and KG would still dominate down low. Ray, Pierce and Rondo, would give the current backcourt of the Celtics a nightmare. And those guys can defend, much much better than Luka and Kyrie.
@@TheCrypticKnight you don't even believe that 😂
@@TheCrypticKnightIf they get past those two, are the Pacers making the conference finals without injuries
@@nicksamp515How does the fourth player onward compare between the 08 and 2024 Celtics?
@@fortynights1513 Prime Rondo, Prime Celtics Perkins, good quality role/bench in Posey and big baby davis, Veteran presence from 2x champ Sam Cassell, and a healthy Tony Allen was a freak on defense. 08 Celtics Front court would destroy the current Celtics' Front court and would have plenty of answer against the Current's Back court.
Adam Silver still looks like a ghoul!
Nosferatu 😮
Looks like the bad guy from Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the Boston Celtics to an NBA championship through their exceptional talent and teamwork.
Their dynamic performances, combined with a strong supporting cast and effective coaching, propelled the Celtics to championship victory, cementing their status as one of the league's elite teams.
lol ok chatGPT
The thing that kills me about lukia is that it seems he rather take hard shots vs finding an easy shot more times than not.
Step back logo three like wtf bruh
As usual, casuals claim Luka did everything including let the Celtics win the chip. Y’all need to hop off that fat boy’s meat 😂 He’ll never win, he cares more about Overwatch and beer than basketball
That's because Kidd isn't that good of a coach and nobody else is good enough to trust the ball
@@WcoopW in the first damn quarter?!?! Which is fucking stupid because in the last game he didn’t settle. He forced the issues and the miss matches every time. I just don’t understand how the Mavs could beat this team by so much and then play so bad. I knew they were going to loose 3 minutes into the first quarter. They had so many almost turnovers. Weren’t executing Luka shooting step back 3s IN THE FIRST QUARTER.
@@Frank-hv7xj you can trust Kyrie with the ball as well as exum especially at this point of his career he’s not gonna do anything stupid he will play safe

Highly appreciate your time and effort with your videos. I understand what it's like to be busy in your life as I'm moving a great distance as well right now. So thank you. And as a Lakers diehard as well, congratulations to the Celtics. #18 for them is hard for me to say, but it is what it is.
Congrats on your move and love watching your videos! I am about to make a move back to the states after two decades overseas.
im not a boston fan but i think history will look back and say this team is a top 15 team all time 60 plus wins and making easy work of basically every series. and before you say injuries that is soemthing that effects litterally every run in history
Spot on with that about playing against teams with injured players.

60's Boston, 80ss Boston, 20's Boston, 00s' Boston
LOL not yet. those squad's dominance was cut short when KG had that mysterious injury. Without it, they're on pace on winning a three-peat as I'm sure as hell a healthy KG would continue to eat prime Gasol down low. Unless this squad can go b2b, they're not better than the 08 squad.
❤that's why your content is an automatic LIKE 👍🏼 for me: " the 86 Celtics were even better... they had THE BEST SUPERSTAR... 💪🏼🏀I acknowledge BOTH Brown and Tatum... but there's no comparison to LEGEND!!!💪🏼🏀👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Of course there is not.
As a lifelong Laker fan I'm not thrilled to be back in 2nd place, but honestly, I really like pretty much every player on this Boston team, as well as Joe Mazzulla. I like the way they built the team, they play smart and cohesively and their defense is incredible. So congrats to Boston, I hope you don't get _too_ far ahead of us while we're in post-LeBron purgatory.
As a fellow Lakers fan you expressed so many of the same sentiments I have.
I agree with most of the takes Jonny made in this video. This Celtic's success is indeed product of a league of parity. It's only this year they've come to seem better than the rest of the league, but it was still to be seen how well they would have done against well rounded teams as themselves, like the Nuggets or Timberwolves. Even an eastern conference matchup against a healthy 76ers team, or a healthy Knicks team, would've led to interesting results. I could see at least them losing the finals to the two better western conference teams. I think they will have to prove themselves all over again next season, against a league probably equal in talent from many teams.
As balanced as the team was, and as talented as their Tatum-Brown duo is, with the addition of very talented role players in Jrue and Porzingis, they don't rank as high in the Celtic's all time best teams. That speaks of how immensely great teams the Celtics franchise have managed to build historically. This team, as good as they are, can't be considerd better than an assemble such as that of the 60's. The duo of Bird-McHale with the rest of the cast in the 80's was also better on the superlative superstar status Bird had, which to this day is way higher than that of Jason Tatum. It's obvious Bird was a better player than Tatum is. Pair him with McHale, who is offensively even more talented than Brown or any other Celtic, and i think it's not that hard to see why they were the better team. Also, a Garnett-Pierce duo alone is more talented than the Tatum-Brown one, even if the former didn't end up built as dominant as this newer team is. I think the difference in this last comparison will come if this Celtics manage to win more championships than the Garnett-Pierce era did.
Finally, star status in this team did get complicated especially in this playoffs, to the point I think it's fair for Brown to be given finals mvp, even when Tatum has historically been better than him. It's only that in this playoffs Brown has showed why his level of play is very similar, if not equal, to that of Tatum. Tatum did have a great finals all around performance himself, but at least offensively Brown got to show a little more this time.
They won one title with probably one of the easiest paths to the finals after choking in the last couple of years. Bird went through Dr. J and the Sixers, then later on the Pistons and also the Showtime Lakers to get his 3 chips. And in 1986, that Celtics team still had a higher winning percentage than this current one. I'm glad Tatum finally got his chip, but he and the current squad need to do a whole lot more to be considered among the greatest Celtics team that featured the likes of Cousy, Russel, Havlicek, Bird, McHale, DJ, Parish etc.
Solid video! Mavs fan here and it was a fun postseason! “You play who’s in front of you.” I’ve always been a fan of that saying. With all the injuries in the East, Celtics definitely benefited and had a smooth path. Media will talk about how dominant they were which is fair. But when LeBron goes to 8 straight Finals.. casuals will just say the East is weak 🤦🏽♂️ haha just wanted to throw that out there.
For how this Celtics team ranks all-time, we'd be hard-pressed to compare them objectively. We could argue them having one of the highest NBA net differential in points ever (in the regular season), and still point out that superstars they faced in their own conference have injuries for their respective series, AND point out that this Dallas team they faced are so battle-tested against their own conference, it wouldn't matter either way.
And for who should get the Finals MVP, agreed that Jaylen Brown deservingly got it, but if people would argue for Tatum, Holiday, or even Porzingis, they would still have legitimate reasons for it; this Celtics team is just that deep.
Hate that Celtics now have 1 over the Lakers in the Championship department, but they're the better team this year. Hats off to them!
As a fan who’s favorite part of the game is defense I’m was so happy watching Celtics play this series and all playoffs, but especially this series I like the way Jaylen Brown was playing defense on Luka for a casual it may not seem that way but he definitely made a difference. What a playoffs this season was. The first half of the 2020s all different champions. I can’t wait to see what the second half has in store.
Not a Boston fan but they won the RIGHT way from a management aspect, nice to see.
JRUE always shine being the 3rd option, (behind JB & JT and Giannis and Middleton in 2021).
Him being the 2nd option in 2 years that Khris was not 100% plus him being ask to defend well really hit his efficiency.
Jason Kidd was horrific. Boston has no true shot blocker besides KP. They gotta go inside. Terrible terrible strategy. Although, kudos to Boston for kinda playing like the team that beat them 2 years ago- GSW- very very tough perimeter D and lots of 3’s.
They could have give the MVP to Holiday or White that's how well rounded the Cs were. Their defense and hustle plays that don't always show up on the stat sheet were every bit as impactful as what the JB and JT did
teams that have higher than a 10+ net rating that win championships tend to move on to be dynastys, i think we can expect more championships from them
I'm just happy for AL.. he made it..
Giannis put it out there in 2021 and it's been sticking since. When he said he did it the right way. Then every team since has done it the same.
Much like how Kat Williams said 2024 is the year of truth and... Well you see what's happening lol
Woah across the country? Congratulations! I always thought if you ever moved, it would be back to California, lol
You're not gonna believe this Jonny:
I heard a Lakers fan saying that if the Celtics won it's OK, because the Lakers also have 18 titles (the 18th being the In-Season Tournament☠️)
As a Celtics fan, all I did was laugh, how do you feel about this statement as a Lakers fan?
Lmao. That’s some MASSIVE cope! The IST hardly means anything at this point, and it’s certainly not on the same level as an NBA championship 🤣
Tatum had more points, rebounds, assists, and free throw % in both the finals and the overall playoffs. Brown was more efficient from the field and 3’s.
Tatum deserved it more. But Brown won the eye contest with his clutch defense.
One things for sure this is one of the top 18 Celtics teams
The playoffs are so much more fun to watch than the regular season. Might be the greatest divide in all of sports
congratulations on your new coach! 😭
Without a doubt, they were in the top-18 for best Celtics' teams
This 24 team is probably the #2 best overall Celtics team behind the 86 Celtics. But as a fan, after all the bullshit in the media. This is best championship team to have watched 🍀
The take the the Celtics weren't even a superteam is mind boggling to me.
6 guys that can play all-nba type defense, 6 guys that can shoot 40% from 3, 2 guys that can drop 40 on any given night, Just because they didn't have 5 big names doesn't mean they'd lose to those teams.
The 2024 Boston Celtics are THE BEST TEAM OF ALL TIME!!!
I think the starting 5 for this Celtics team talent wise match up against any other Celtic Teams starting 5. I would give the 86 team the edge overall though as the best. They had stupid depth at all facets of the game. Robert Parish or Kevin McHale gets in foul trouble or needs a break well just bring in Bill Walton. Ainge or Dennis Johnson need a long break or get in foul trouble bring in Sam Vincent, Rick Carisle, or Jerry Sichting.
They legitimately almost ran like hockey lineups they had such strong depth.
Jaylen Brown is definitely more worthy of Finals MVP
Finally a team that plays defense wins the championship after a long drought. It was refreshing and might just bring me back to watching regularly.
The Celtics were by far the best team in the regular season. We’ll see if they are able to repeat, then I might include them in the discussion for the best Celtics team ever.
As far as I’m concerned the 86 Celtics are still the best and one of the top three teams ever… They were a pleasure to watch.
I think the Brooklyn/New Jersey Nets should be the Finals MVP for giving up their draft picks for old KG and old Pierce!😅
Genuinely happy for JT on redeeming himself after all the criticisms last season, even questioning his dribbling ability. Won the ECF, FMVP and the Cup the following season. He's clearly the FMVP and all those who are debating that Tatum should've won that just looked at the stat sheet, and not watched the entire series. He was the best player in both ends of the court and was the sparkplug for the entire team. His energy and hustle plays paid off.
This team is easily in the top 5 all-time celtics team, and I can see them going toe-to-toe with the 08 boston team, but they're still not up to par with the 86 celtics who were just dominating everyone, including the GOAT.
1986 was the GOAT team, but I love this team
On paper this Celtics team really is one of the best teams in NBA history. They finished the season with a record of 80-21 and a title. The Celtics are 1 of 8 teams to ever win at least 80 games and a championship in the same season. And on top of that they had an elite defense and was the most well rounded team in the league they are a matchup problem for everyone in the league at all 5 positions. The Celtics deserve this championship and they deserve respect because they earned it and if they can stay healthy and nothing bad happens they should be able to at least make it back to the finals next year. Here's to the Boston Celtics your 2024 NBA champions! 🏆☘️🏀
I would give the finals MVP to Jrew Holiday begore giving it to Tatum, I think they got it right with Jaylen Brown
They have 5 starters that will end up as hof'ers unles theu severely fall off. Last time a Celtics team had 5 hof starters they won 8 titles in a row...
Mid 60's> mid 80's> 2024 > 2008 > early 70s's.
Before going back to making regular videos can you talk on Jaylen Brown legacy and if this affects his ranking overall. For example, James Harden doesn't have a Final MVP, doesn't that make Jaylen greater than Harden?
2024 Celtics had an easy road to the finals. While also being a very bad match up for Dallas. In Hindsight they handled business but the way they are being overhyped is crazy. Also, Tatum is not potty trained. Holiday and Porzingis were the extra diapers to make sure Tatum didn’t 💩
I don't miss the super team era but I don't dislike it either. It's competitive sport, all that matters is winning and if you can do it as easily as possible well isn't that the whole point lol. This parity thing that NBA fans seem to bang on about is like a participation trophy mentality, everyone has to have an equal chance of winning or it's not fair 🤦♂️
This one's for The Bills of Boston....
Bill Russell and Bill Walton
Jayson was the best player in the finals, jaylen was the most valuable player, a difference no one can see apparently
🤣 because Tatum wasent the best player in the finals. It was Luka. And the most valuable player for the winning team was brown. He honestly might be the Celtics best player
@t-god2439 I was talking about the winning team man, chill out
@t-god2439 Brown is my favourite player, but jaysoh is a better player, simple as that, if JT realise he is not Stephen curry he would be the best player in the planet
Luka was the best player in the Finals. He didn’t really rise to the occasion by playing even greater but neither did Tatum.
Cause your wrong 😂
If we compare the two teams (08 and 24 Celtics head on) they are very square. Both win some positions, but I think it comes down to the 2024 Celtics having better coaching and shooting which would push them over the top
Maybe head coach vs head coach, sure. But Tom Thibodeau’s defensive schemes is what really made that 2008 team elite.
General coaching, not quite. 08 coaching staff in general are still top-tier. But the 2024 Celtics hasn't faced any tough defensive teams over their entire playoff run. 08 Celtics would be a nightmare for their shooters.
Some of it would depend on which era's rules it's played under.
Which is just the tip of the iceberg of _Impossible Era Comparisons And Why It Never Settles An Argument_
2008 was better they won 66 games team had big 3 stars and upcoming Rondo at PG then a super deep bench PJBrown Cassell Posey T Allen Big baby and of course game 2 aka the “Leon Powe game” for anyone who watched that dude came out of nowhere have the best game of his life in the NBA Finals
The GOAT Jaden Springer is gonna be the reason why these teams will be the greatest Celtics teams of all time hes sitting next to Tatum and Brown for a reason
The most impressive thing was that nobody stood out overall; it was a total team effort.
"WE DID ITTTTT!!" - 🤓🤓🤓
Which of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum do you want to play for the Los Angeles Lakers?
Coach Joe Mazulla has broken the notion that he is a terrible coach. He should now get the respect he deserves now that he led the Celtics to a title.
idk if u can say brown played better when it really mattered lol he was clutch in the indy series but i can only think of 1 semi clutch shot by jb this series, i still havent heard any argument that i agree with that brown was even close to the offensive player tatum was out there, but he deserved the mvp, locked up luka if iggy can take 1 from curry for that ill live with brown taking 1 from tatum lol
This team was great all season, but I'd still choose the 1986 Celtics. That team was a monster, and everybody knew ALL season, they'd win the NBA Championship.
Lakers are a joke ever since the late Dr Jerry Buss died. Kobe is gone, Jerry West is gone, and the remaining Buss siblings are a clown show that ain't even funny. Celtics still remain to be a well run organization even if they are not winning titles. Now we see the fruits of their labor.
JB deserved the FMVP.
The 1986 Celtics would beat the brakes off of the 24 Celtics.....4 game sweep.....would win by 20 pts every game.😢
Idc anymore who won fmvp, all I know is they got another 3-4 years of competing for another chip which is great for them. Lets go Boston🎉
“Alleged” by whom? 67-15, 15-3 playoff ‘85-‘86 anyone? Bird, McHale, Parish, Johnson, Ainge, …Bill Walton on the bench? Who are the 5 HoF’ers on this team?
They squeak into the top 5.
With your comment on the 18-17 Celtic advantage… keep in mind the bubble championship is completely illegitimate anyway, so Lakers are down anyway…
Jrue Holiday had arguably a better argument for FVMP than Tatum, Brown is the deserving winner
Jrue should've been. Finals MVP
They ate tied with the 08 team.. 08 played a crazy la team.. mavs wasn't as good as la.. plus 08 went twice as well with a 1-1 record. Better players 08 had.. vets.. this 24 team is rising stars so it means more.. plus the celtics are number 1 now. Each celtics ring holds its own value n power over the nba.. I seen both ring runs n vs kobe by far is the best out of these 2.. now if the nuggets was in the finals, I'll feel different.. kobe won his revenge, I wanted tatum to take it from jokic
The Celtics winning the title was guaranteed the moment that Lakers fans started claiming the IST win was a "tie breaker". The Basketball Gods are not to be trifled with.
Tatum fans : dude what are you doing? You know Tatum should've won the fmvp
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I haven't seen anyone say that.
I think this is the 2nd greatest Celtics team ever. There is a strong argument for 08, but their somewhat disappointing playoff run (besides winning it all obviously) puts them behind for me. Yes they faced tougher competition overall, but I just don’t see the 24 Celtics going to 7 against the 08 Atlanta Hawks
🎉❤
Was thinking watching the game earlier. Can we just have Tatum and Brown be co-finals MVP? Thoughts?
I think Brown clearly deserved it over Tatum. Without his play on both ends, Dallas would've had a better shot at making this a 6 or 7 game series.
Technically when Karl Malone won MVP in 1997 it was presented as a co-MVP with John Stockton but it only counts as an MVP for Malone in the history books. I think the ROY in 1995 was shared between Jason Kidd and Grant Hill as well but it's pretty rare since these are the only two examples I can think of and has never been done for a FMVP.
Off the top of my head it should've been done with Magic and Kareem in 1980, media snubbed Kareem despite his fantastic play and stats since he wasn't in the building missing the final game due to an injury and still rewards Magic for his fantastic game.
This imo clinches the Celtics as rhe greatest NBA franchise over the Lakers. A 9-3 finals record against the Lakers and now more rings.
Jayson Tatum literally made history by being the first player in nba history to have a box plus minus of -30 in 2 nba finals games. No shit he wasn't gonna win the FMVP.
The story of this season is that a lot of GM's suck! Brad Stevens didn't even do anything that amazing compared to others screwing up.
Not the best team ever as a lifelong Celtics fan, they’re great, but not better than the KG, Pierce, and Allen team or Larry birds squad. Both those groups also had deep rosters. I also feel like the way they played on the 2008-2010 team would just out hustle and strength the current team
This team is definitely the best Celtics team ever. The 86 team isn’t even their 2nd best team ever, it goes:
1. 2024 Celtics
2. 2008 Celtics
3. 1986 Celtics
The 2024 Celtics are the best NBA team of all time
Jrue Holiday gets no respect🤦🤦♂️🤦♀️
1986 was best. 2024 vs. 2008 is a legitimate argument
I understand that the MVP is given to the winning team, but definitely the MVP of the finals was Luka
2008-2010 Celtics were the best!this Celtics team is the last!
Im ngl, this was one of the worst finals of all time. Only one game was close. Before anyone assumes anything im a thunder fan and i was rooting for the celtics.
I still think the 86 Celtics team is the best team.
Mavs in 9
1986 Boston ran through an objectively better gauntlet in the playoffs/finals... The 2024 Celtics legit only smoked one good team, Dallas
The 2024 East is easily in the conversation for weakest East all time (at least in playoff history)
How is it controversial JB was better overall
Let's have them dominate for a decade before putting them in the same league as Bird's Celtics.
I’m glad you mentioned that this wasn’t a superteam and built organically because sometimes I don’t think people realize what a superteam actually is.
The people who say this is a super team also say that Tatum isnt a superstar, and Brown is overpaid. Theyre just bitter.
Built not Bought
So what makes a superteam? Just big names together? Whats the criteria? More than 2 big name players on one team? Suns are a superteam then? Or is it a superteam when players make those teams? Then you only want the GM to have the power to make superteams happen.
I'm generally confused here with the semantics. Just because its "built organically" it isn't a superteam?
@@sodbilegsodko Most common definition is 3 current all stars playing on the same team. Less talked about but a better definition is 3 guys who in that moment could be stars/1st options on their own respective teams. So 2008 Celtics, Heatles, mid 2010s Cav, KD warriors (But not pre KD), 2020s nets.
@@carlosc789 That's a way more acceptable take. Because "built organically" is a disgusting add-on. Makes teams like 2008 Celtics and 2nd threepeat Bulls not look like a superteam.

Bro derrick white got two chips in one game😂😂
As a long time Mavs fan, I can’t even be mad at this because Boston simply looked so dominant the entire season and despite what Boston fans may say, the Mavs did play incredibly leading up to this but like he said, the Celtics were just better and were more dynamic as a team. The Mavs have only had this roster for about 5 months so I feel like with some minor adjustments and keeping all of our impactful players, we have a genuine case at punching even harder next year, or at least in the near future
Hey jonny good video as usual
