    Great video buddy, got to love the Kyosho Ultima family! 😍
    I still have to say I love the original one myself, so advanced for its time!

    Thanks for posting this Keith.
    Ioved the Ultima from when I first saw one in a hobby shop, the roll cage, metal roof and cool wheels all combine to make a beautiful and authentic looking buggy. I never got one but I got a second hand Ultima Pro a few years later. I raced that along with my LWB Mid around 89-90. I miss those cars, but hopefully Kyosho will release both again.
    PS. See you in Sydney later this year!

      Yes, I'm really proud about that car I purchased it right after I sold my grasshopper that I converted to a hornet and sold to my next door neighbor, the same guy that I would mow his lawn in a few others. That money saved up got me the Ultima. It was an amazing jump it was leaps and bounds better than the grasshopper / hornet. The only problem is that if you are Spanish the name of the car means last, last one, the last one in line. So at this point I am graduating 8th grade headed towards high school. By the time I was a sophomore the buggy was put away with a 16 tooth clutch with a at that time it was called the ectoplasma, and I had a set of wide Boogie five-star chrome wheels on the front very wide HPI 5 Star chrome wheels on the back and instead of it having spiked tires or anything like that it had a set of those tires that look like Goodyear gatorbacks. Since most of the running was done on the street I took and saved all of the other hardware and converted it to run on the street. I found the buggy again in 2017I checked at Kyosho and I purchased every part I could that I needed to essentially bring it back so it's kind of half and half half and half meaning half original and half new parts I had to do a little modification of the gearbox so that I could support that new wing and the position where it now plugs into the gearbox instead of sitting on the roll bar. I also found a trinity magic Johnson motor that is what he was running in that exact buggy when he won the championship 🏆. It runs incredible. But now we just sits on the shelf. I'm never going to run it again. That buggy holes so many memories for me it's something that I can't explain it reminds me of those long hot summer days, when I was younger and the days wouldn't end. Anyways sorry to drop all this on you like that but I hope they flood your mind just like they do mine with wonderful memories of the days of RC when there was no internet when there are only home video game systems and very few if any. The golden days of RC.

    Now you are talking my language! My favourite chassis. I love them. Got my first in 88, it got stolen though, I was gutted. It's the early chassis that are my favourite. I have a Turbo Ultima that I re-bodied with the OG Ultima body. I built up another OG, gave that to one of my sons for his collection. I have a re-re, just needs body doing, and I have an OG that is in very good nick, body is clear with the decals put on it, which is something people used to do.
    I don't have any of the intervening Ultimas, but I do have an RB-TypeR and an RB5.
    I also have a Losi 5b Flux, which is really just an Ultima in 1/5 scale (same designer).
    Great vid!

  • @irritablearchitect

    The original Ultima came with the smaller diameter (11mm?) shocks that were anodized red. The gold shocks were certainly an option at about that same time and were fitted to the JJ World's car version.

    Nice to see your collection out, and look forward to seeing other family groups from which ever Company.

    The only thing bad about Kyosho in my opinion is the parts support. Most hobby shops don’t sell Kyosho parts even if they sell Kyosho.. they make awesome RC’s. I’ve only got a couple but I absolutely love em

    • @rcicons4915
      @rcicons4915  9 месяцев назад +1

      Kyosho is definitely harder than it used to be. I think it is the corporate mindset. It has been sold too many times and the owners do not understand the importance of parts availability.

      @@rcicons4915 The 300zx was my 2nd hobby grade RC car. I missed out on a NIB one on eBay a while back that was basically the same price as new but adjusted for inflation.
