Wow! I never even knew a shot existed for this type of ance. Geesh!!! 😭 I am so upset and happy at the same time. I don't have ance issues often, but there are times I have this Cystic Type of Acne. It triggers such a terrible migraine for me, which can shut me down for days. Thank you for posting this 💗
It can also be food and weather that causes it too not just your body. It can even be from bacteria you rub there from something and is most common with people who use makeup, eat greasy foods, and don't shower everyday. Alot of people don't realize that almost all acne is curable and that you can live acne free. I've had 4 zits in my life time and I'm 26 and I only had them because I was pregnant and it was summer time. Other than that I've never had any. But I wear makeup once or twice a year, I wash my face with just plain water and rag unless I did get super dirty than I use milk soap with no added fragrance and I regulate my hormones through my food so I do everything I can to stay healthy.
One of my sons used to get these all the time. When he was a teenager, for 2-3 years, he'd get one every 4-6 months. They were always in the underarm area, and would get so big and painful. We'd take him in, and they always did a great job in getting it drained, and cleaned out. Thankfully, he hasn't had one in almost 10 years.
Hey, I'm not sure if he was already diagnosed, and I'm only a med student, but if it ever comes back, it might be useful for him to ask his doctor if it's hidradenitis suppurativa :)
That sounds like an inflamed lymph node. I used to get them under my armpits too when I was run down. Your son should probably see a doctor if it happens again.
I have Hidradenitis Supparativa. I thought of HS as well on the OC. Thank you guys for mentioning it. My cysts are VERY deep within my skin. Like so deep, I can feel it, my doctor can feel it to inject them, but you can’t see them so the MAs don’t see them and the pictures don’t show anything. I don’t have a problem with my lymph nodes because I’ve been checked MANY times, but the cysts grow close to my other anatomy like lymph nodes and nerves because I have extreme pain and feel absolutely depleted of any energy for a long while.
Getting a cyst lanced is such a relief. Not only does it hurt less and heal quickly, but your immune system is less challenged. This shouldn’t be looked at as a cosmetic or celebrity procedure-it’s treatment of an active infection that can cause greater harm and permanent disfigurement. Also, it takes a trained professional with sterile tools about ten minutes to do in an appropriate environment.
Thank you so covering this. It’s totally understand that not everyone has access to healthcare quickly like this, but I appreciate discussion of what, best case scenario, treatment should be used.
I always called this kind of acne "volcanoes" because they are huge and feel like they'll erupt at any moment. I'm so glad to find out there's an effective and quick treatment for this.
I’m really acne prone pretty much everywhere & have really oily skin which doesn’t help… I’ve had a few cystic breakouts behind my ears - the last time I had one i told my derm about them because they were getting annoying and painful she brought these injections to my attention if I ever want them in the future. Never actually done one, but its nice to see & hear others’ experiences with them!
i had a cyst about the same size in my smile line and i didn’t go to the dermatologist (don’t have one in my town) and it’s been about 6 days and it’s not red anymore and gone down massively but there’s now a hard tiny lump still there
@@luxbookplanners salicylic acid helps dry out bigger acne and its otc. If we're talking eye drops anything steroid would do like prednisolone or tobradex. Downside is these are not otc.
I wish I'd known this years ago. My face was covered in cystic acne when I was a teenager. People would ask why I never smiled - because my face hurt all the time! I will definitely call my derm for my sons now that they're teens if they ever need this treatment ❤
ive tried every dermatologist where im from & no one can figure out why i get those kinds off cysts in my hips & butt. they are definitely itchy & painful. Appointments are always months away as well. I wish I could go to this DR. 😢

These shots are amazing. My skin is clear most of the time, but I typically get a cystic pimple once or twice a year. I always get them injected when it does happen. It doesn’t always go away with one shot though. I’ve occasionally had to get it injected again. Recently, I had an aggravated one injected 3 times before it went away! It got better each time though!
Ma’am, can these be used for hidradenitis suppurativa? My derm took me off all meds since none of them work and she’s told me there nothing more that she can do. Would this not work for those cysts and lesions or is there really nothing ?
Any comments about the pitting? I think that’s what caused some pitted scars for me because the only place on my body where I have pitted scars are the few I had injected years ago.
maybe the scars/pitting would be worse without the treatment? because i had cysts and didn't get injections and i have scarring. i'd always wondered if i had gotten injections maybe i wouldn't have the scars. but i guess it's good (only that i have less regret) but sad to know that unfortunately cystic scarring is just expected
In my country the waiting is 8 months minimum. But I’m almost acne free I just get what she has in the video. It’s sometimes so bad my lymph nodes behind my ears are hard as a rock and swollen, and it takes 4 months to heal on its own. I swear sometimes I’m ready to order those injections on the black market. Right now I have a new one and an older one (2 months) that is still painful and sore. You can’t even sleep on those damn things drives me crazy. 😭
Yea, access to dermatologists is neither widespread or easy, you really you need to be an existing patient to be able to access this treatment. I'd make an appointment NOW so that you can be seen later when needed. It's something no one can plan for, obviously, but it's a super quick and simple procedure that a derm will squeeze in existing patients for. They just can't do that for EVERYONE or they'd never be able to see their patients.
@@Kekkndslgnlwnh Im also in the US, the land of lowered accessibility for many a health concern and a shortage of dermatologists definitely doesn't help! I have cystic acne and these injecions did not help at all. Definitely try them out but it didnt cut down my healing time at all or even the inflamed tenderness. It could be due to the cause of the acne, for me it turned out to be dairy
How would this work in other health care systems though 😩. In au, you have to be referred to a dermatologist by your gp, and can’t just make an appointment with one. Plus they are so expensive and I doubt this would be covered in Medicare! Which suck Bcs I could really use this shot atm.
Wait cuz i have what i need at home Does it mean i could take away the risk of whatever the keta thingy is, and just inject saline water ? Or won't it work ?
What about the people that end up with craters and indents and conclaves spots on their faces??? I’ve been warned too many times to trust this works and doesn’t cause a horrible scar.
WTH? I had one and they wanted to open my face to remove the cyst 😭 I had to end up doing it myself (there was 2 black points and I removed with one of those black patches) but after days of draining I ended up with a sunk area right on my cheek ☹️
