I went to Paris in 2011 as a broke college so I had to see several of the popular sites from afar but it was the best birthday present to spend 5 days in Paris, then I spent a month in Dijon. I majored in French and the whole trip I was on cloud nine.

So cool. I used to live in Paris but never went to the catacombes nor the musées de Cluny. Especially the Kasten one looked really interesting. The food looked so good was just droolibg...😂
I think it would be really great if when you went to restaurants like this you told us the menu and described each dish a little. I More content on the menus would be welcome! Prices, courses, was it worth it etc etc

My husband and I went to Paris for 10 days in 2000. We had dinner at three Michelin Star restaurants including the Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower. Sadly I had a terrible cold and could taste very little of my very expensive meals!

Being a fellow coeliac I cannot believe how gluten free friendly Paris is from last time I visited…it is unbelievable, all those amazing different things to try I would have to loose 10 pounds to allow for eating!!!!! Whipped cream (good) is one of my food groups, lol. The hot chocolate with that amazing cream on it looked amazing. I seriously have been known to whip up a bowl of whipped cream & eat it for a meal. I have a problem, lol😂
Just a comment… if you love to see old architecture go to the museums in Balboa Park. It’s beautiful!! Spend a day or two playing tourist walking around. It’s a big place. ❤

The catacombs were one of my favorite experiences when I was in Paris.
I loved the Catacombs! I was only able to find gfree macaroons but no croissants or pastries :( (I have celiacs and lupus too!)

Crêpes are not made with buckwheat, but with wheat flour. The version with buckwheat flour is called Galettes and is almost always savoury, whereas Crêpes are sweet.

Please please please note that you should never use any additional lights when in the catacombs! This is because the additional light can cause the bones to be destroyed due to mold and fungus growth on the bones! I know this because I was there and talked to a conservator just a couple of months ago!

It was actually really fascinating, they have entire sections that they have to shut down periodically to clean as best they can and so they can turn the lights off to inhibit the growth.

Technically, ours is hot cocoa because it’s made with cocoa powder. Hot chocolate is made with melted chocolate.

If you like food, the food is NOTHING like American food. It is outrageously good.
I’ve been there twice and personally I do love it. I didn’t find it to be particularly Americanized but that may depend on what parts of Paris you are seeing. Paris is very French if you ask me!
