He's also peddles misinformation during the whole smash p3d0 controversy, and when proven wrong, did nothing to make the situation or the people he slandered better. Quite a toxic individual. The community is better without him.

There are usually a lot of interactions between top players, in close to mid ranges. Thats not really camping. Sure, some options are safe, but there are tons of ways to deal with them if you know how.
Its just like how many other fighting games work. Just because an option is safe doesnt mean its camping. Otherwise melee would also be full of camping because the top tiers in that game have tons of safe options too.
And even safe options still have some risk which allows for plenty of counterplay.
@@eragon78 “camping in your face” is meant to identify what you’re describing, not that it’s true camping. I’m just trying to identify the main part of ultimate’s meta where attacking second wins.
So players do a lot of safe options that apply pressure with the ultimate goal of whiff punishing/creating openings, etc which would look like “camping in your face” to someone less familiar with ultimate specifically

@@JNKSmash just lack of knowledge on basic terms like footsies and poke. Not totally sure why but imo ult as a game has nearly 0 mechanics besides base game knowledge. Like someone in this comments section said they wish people didn’t use safe moves in order to get an opening in neutral… that’s the whole point of neutral unless you’re bad

You'd have to make 4 or 5 of these videos. He lost to AK at genesis 8, chronos at sport priority and I think someone else in losers of let's make big moves. Pretty sure they were all unranked

Yea, Top 20 PGR players lose to non-PGR players all the time. Especially in early Ult.
Its not really that weird when the game is pretty new still. Players are learning things still. Especially when you have other exceptional talent in the pool as well. Its pretty hard to be super consistent in that senario.

While there's no denying Leffen's skill, the guy should've been banned from tournaments years ago for how toxic he is. Like someone else in this comments section said, if Leffen still played Ultimate, he would totally set a Nair limit on Leo's Byleth because he's that fucking petty. I am so glad he quit Ultimate, because otherwise I would not be able to take that drama.

He was my favorite player in the beginning of ult. I love the way he edgeguards and I loved seeing the community cry about his opinions. Wish he liked the game more
Half of his opinions were wrong. Like when he said snake was garbage. He also preached about edge guarding when ultimate is a game that favours ledge trapping more often as you lose stage control and positioning by going off stage. Obviously this depends on the character. In melee you have the speed to reposition instantly but that is not the case in smash ultimate. Its also easy as hell to preach edge guarding when using ivesaurs massive dair hit box. You don’t even have to leave the stage and you’ll get a spike. Overall he’s toxic for the sake of views and his own ego. He really doesn’t offer anything meaningful to the game other than some entertainment.

Leffen is obviously a great player, but he's the last person this scene needed. So many of our top players have very regular, tame personalities, but he's objectively toxic and would have brought out the worst in people. That timeline probably would have seen him on twitter arguing that we need to implement a nair limit on Leo's byleth or something
leffen hasn't been "toxic" like that in over a decade. Bitching on twitter does not equal being toxic and bad for the scene. And he's not alone in hating the puff MU, jus the most vocal.

Nearly his entire experience with Tekken was him being toxic and bashing the game. Which in turn enranged the tekken community and he only stoked the flames more by negatively talking down on the community besides its big names
When he played strive, he was trying *desperately* to bait Kensou into getting angry at him by flaming him on twitter CONSISTENTLY he could get his fanbase to Witchhunt kensou. Kensou even made a vid with evidence on the situation
Not to mention he lied during the Zero stuff, which is pretty insane cause while everyone was coming out with serious, vulnerable things, he just flat out lied so get more publicity.
Hbox drama was literally spiraling out of control and was nearly all spearheaded by Leffen until the crab incident happened too. And let's not forget to also mentioned he tried switching his early personality to the public in documentary when in he quite literally was a just horrible person before evidence.zip, that's why the banned him.
We can't forget the infamous, "livestreaming ult is harder than working a job" tweet either. Or how very recently after getting beat with hbox he immediately tried desperately, live on stream, to appease for a puff specific ban. But luckily we as a community have noticed his tracks of behavior and mocked him for it. The dude may have lowered how toxic he is, but toxic is still toxic by the end of the day. If an *entire* fgc is hating you for the comments youve made about the game and you haven't even played it for 3 months, then thats an issue with yourself and the way you come off

we have seen all the smash gods have a go at ultimate and none come close to leffen's success. leffen also cleans up at other auto fighter games as well. even though this was very early into the smash ultimate scene, the man is definitely talented.
I feel like Leffen of all people really isn't just the average unranked player you know? He's a pro player in multiple fighting games it's not that surprising to me that he could beat one of the best players in ultimate

This is really dumb. Does him not being ranked in Ult mean his years of experience and research (hehe) in melee wouldn’t carry over? Let’s not forgot all of these players (including Leffen) were still fresh at Ultimate too. I’m really not sure what this video is trying to do, but perhaps include when Leffen got bodied by Leon and spat the dummy on Twitter because he didn’t know how to hold left.
The video tells the story between Leffen vs Tweek. I thought it was a pretty interesting video idea and for me it was insane that Leffen won against Tweek in the PT ditto after he lost a few months ago 0:3
Well he has years of Melee experience and still got downplayed by the entire Sm4sh community at the start of Ult if you actually remember. Its just a good story of a perceieved underdog taking some names not sure why you have to get buthurt about it im not even a Leffen fan but either enjoy the video or move on dude 😂

Just because you have years of smash melee experience doesnt mean you’ll just be good at Ult or else Hbox, Mang0, and Plupp would be as good as Leffen is at Ult furthermore Smash Ult is a brawl sequel just like Sm4sh so literally there is more crossover and legacy skill if you were a Sm4sh player that moved to Ult . All that to say Melee players weren’t percieved as good at Ult (hence why all the same good Sm4sh players are the top players for Ult duh??) and that’s exactly why people downplayed Leff because he was the only good Melee Ult player it’s that simple. Wasn’t trying to cop out just trying to explain to you why someone with experience in smash would get downplayed 🤷🏾♂️

Melee players can compete in ultimate but ultimate players cannot do the same for melee ^.^

Absolutely. Dude never practices and knows almost nothing about the complicated technical aspects of the game. Dude didnt even own a switch or ult for a while after he started competing. Guy is sometjing of a savant. If wadi actually practiced and took ult seriously as other pros do, hed be the best in the game no question

@@JNKSmash I guess I was a bigger fan of his when Ult came out. He seemed like he was trying pretty hard, and I felt that the two games felt more similar than just melee v. Sm4sh. I guess he isn't like m2k with Melee/brawl haha
Don't think Leffen can get a good position in ultimate, this is a much slower and tactic game than melee.
He is also very good in other fighting games so it would be interesting if he has the potential to be a top ultimate player
Slow isn’t the word I’d use, Ultimate isnt really much slower than melee, but it is less technically demanding. Which makes it have more of an emphasis on deliberate movement instead of overwhelming your opponent with burst options.
@Hu Man ultimate is slower cause of a lot of mechanics, combos, and even moves. Melee is by a lot more technical and faster than ultimate, especially when edge guarding. But I do see your point.

Well, I’m not an experienced Ultimate player, but I am a very experienced melee player from back in 2013.
The actual physical frame data isn’t that different between the games.
Obviously there’s no fox shine 1 frame nonsense, but besides standardized jumpsquat, they’re actually not far off. But you’re also given a lot more tools and input lenience in Ultimate. That’s all I was saying.
