Unless you are an expert speedrunner of Alien Isolation. DO NOT RUN lol. No matter how far ahead you are, the alien is guarantee to almost always catch up to you. Speedrunners use a trick where they alternate run and crouch really fast to let them move at full speed while the game thinks they're being sneaky, so the alien doesnt hear them
i suggest the only reason anyone should ever run is if they know where the closest emergency overdrive system is. they close and lock doors which forces the alien to find a different route. giving you enough time to hide or move to another area. you can outrun the alien, as long as there is an emergency overdrive close by and you're quick with pressing buttons.
@@alsin7085 Sprinting after a molotov if cover is nearby is also viable - it takes the alien's AI a second to reset and begin looking for you again, by which point you're hidden. Depends on how brave you're feeling I guess. In the beginning when it first gets uncleashed on you, I was stuck in one corridor for maybe 20 minutes too timid to make a move. you always have to be on the move when the time is right, so that you can get to your destination before the alien does, constantly lingering and cowering in hiding spots just allows for the alien to beat you there. you should only hide when you know the alien is roaming about in the vicinity.
Uh there’s multiple ways to play it, you can be aggressive and fight off the alien to give you breathing room for like 1 min each. Stealth where you hide but the alien will adapt and start checking under desks and shit (scary ass shit when ur face to face with the alien and you can’t even turn your camera away from it) and hybrid where you use distractions and surprise it or sneak away from it. The alien adapts to all play styles and you can’t rely on the same tactics every single time.
You can craft items to distract it more easily, which none of these clips show. Noisemakers or Flares are particularly effective to move it to a remote corner so you can slip away. You can also fight it off with fire (molotovs / flamethrower), but doing so makes it more aggressive and you can't actually kill it, so those are generally a last resort if it's spotted you and you're too far from cover. You can also hack various devices as you make your way through, like that camera that kept triggering the alarm while he was under the desk can actually be disabled at a nearby console. Basically theres a lot of different ways to play and a great storyline that fits with the movies which is why this game is so good!
