I have the Freqtube and LOVE it! I'm a little confused why Nick bypassed using the output fader for the examples but I can assure anyone on the fence it's a fantastic piece of kit!
I was curious if the filters were hardware or software, and looked in their website. Thankfully, I found on the Technology section it says *"Eight onboard hardware filters can be enabled to sculpt the sound even further."* Man, I was done spending on gear for the next decade. I thought the RME ADI-2 Pro FS R BE and Eventide H90 were my last (they were the first) splurges for me, but no...I feel that familiar itch now, ha-ha.
Cool! The price seems right being a real Analog Coloring Amp... I'll definitively buy it when it has endless encoders (better if it is a button and endless knob and it is lighted as the Arturia's BeatStep Pro)
but is it actually being processed by the hardware box?? or is the software doing the processing and the hardware is only basically a midi controller ?
I like the idea and sound but it is extremely limited!!! Everything is all about full control and work flow these day!!! They shouldn't of released it until they figured everything out!!! But I do like it!!!
So the question burning inside is.. how fast can I render audio because I want to use something like this for more than 4 or less things at a time? Does it make rendering slower or is it as fast as digital gets? This question has a book of other questions it makes me want to ask or things to converse on at least but I want a lot with not much. Quality with a capital Q is my goal here. I am aware I can record DI the same time I "record" this products tubes too so I'm not too worried about some things. If I had another question that I could possibly have answered it is definitely this however; CAN THIS... allow my master signal (let alone individual parts ran through it) be able to sound louder/fuller/cleaner or dirtier*/REAL-ER than I'd ever typically get with digital plugins alone? I ask this the way a guy playing solid state guitar amps going tube amp would be asking!!!!
You still have to bounce in real time. I have the unit and what I do is when I find a sound I like I create a new track. I send the track with Freqtube to a buss and set the input on the new track I created to that buss. I then record the processing onto a new track. You are committing the sound but this way you can still bounce offline if you want. However if you use it and don't want to commit you do have to bounce in real time.
Hey, baihu4u! Great question, this is not yet supported in the current firmware but it is something that they are working on for a future update, although I can’t speak to any release date for that. I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions. Connor Smith, Sweetwater Sales Engineer, (800) 222-4700 ext. 1793, connor_smith@sweetwater.com
Wow! a lot very inexperienced people commenting here, this is obviously not for you. It's real tubes in a hardware box, that has it's own built in ADDA, so all you do is connect the unit over USB and it is effectively acting like another audio interface on your computer, routing audio in and out the DAW, and therefore can by controlled by a plugin in your DAW. Simples 🙄
A genius, aparently you can't read. Or maybe you can but you can't comprehend. Not sure. I CLEARLY said "there are D/A A/D converts IN the unit". I never said tubes are converters. The tubes are not fake. I have the unit. I'm looking at it now. I guess they also added a heater to give off fake heat like real tubes would because it gets hot too. The tubes do not look fake and are not fake. It does have in and outs! The audio is passed through USB just like a USB audio interface. How do you think audio gets from your DAW to your speakers? The audio passes through the USB cable. A USB audio interface takes the analog signal coming in and converts it to digital so it can be used in a DAW. Then it converts the digital signal to analog on the way out of the DAW so sound can come out of the speakers. 🤦🏻♂@@MadACeTeeMack
Look, I'm less than a clueless noob, but "It really comes alive..." All I heard was you turned up the volume. It went from "can't hear" to "can hear". That's not an effect. That's volume. I really need a wet/dry AB test to maybe hear what you are talking about. "Remember how it sounded five minutes ago?" No, I don't. "Well, then, you aren't the audience/target market." That's true. But are all the potential customers as perfect as the video makes it seem, or are some of them a little less perfect, a little more like me?
I totally get what you mean, and I agree with it, but keep in mind these guys have been doing this for so long, they go for the nuances, not the obvious things. It wouldn't make a difference what gear they choose to make something good, but if something inaudible to untrained ears hits their mark, they'll go for that. It's like caviar eaters or wine tasters or coffee drinkers; the tiny differences that would seem insignificant to us would be deal breakers to them, ha-ha!
The Freqtube is a great idea in theory, but the execution is not good. I had HORRIBLE static and buffering issues in Logic Pro, making it useless. Needless to say, I sent it back.
Yet another digital copy of the real thing. It's just another DAW plugin with simulated tubes and they infer it's a REAL tube driven device. The best recording quality still comes from mic'ing real speaker cabinets plugged to a real tube amp :)
Huh, no lol. This is real analog processing bud. If it wasn't you would be able to do an offline bounce. That's not the only way you can tell but I can assure you it's not "just another DAW plugin with simulated tubes". You do know that would be fraud, correct? That's a pretty serious accusation to make. I have the unit so I speak from personal experience. I'm also a professional engineer who has been around for a VERY LONG TIME! The only thing digital about this is the fact that it can be used as a plugin. There are converters in the unit. Why would that add converters if it was just a plugin? Ignorance at its finest here! Now go ahead and tell me how wrong I am! 🤡
Dude, these are real tubes in a real analog unit controlled digitally. Ain't no digital copy. Yes it's a starved plate tube design which purist would argue it's an inferior design, but it's real tube saturation recallable for cheap. Tube saturators this clean for mastering go for 3 grands at least, without AD/DA conversion. And yet this thing is versatile enough to be used on guitars, bass and master bus, but people find it expensive comparing it to an actual Marshal tube amp and a Black Box HG tube saturator etc...

Love this vid ! Thank you, i just got mine few weeks ago and i am blown away

Curious, can two of these be used simultaneously for 8 channels of tube processing?

hi, I wanted to know if hardware has the ability to work with pentode and triade?
Is it really passing signal through the tubes though?..
Yes
Yes. There are D/A A/D converters in the unit. I have one.
Audio can be trasnmitted and recieved thorough USB. That's how they do it. There are converters in the unit. @@MadACeTeeMack

Seems a bit gimmicky. Great idea for sure but very limited features
This box is going for $1k USD?! 👀
Yikes 💴 💴 💴

SNAKEOIL
Why is that?
Yes I also like to know why ? You tried it obviosly, so pls share why ?

This is 4 real analog tubes inside. Its the real thing at its a brillisnt unit. The best equipment we bought for very long
Lol
