- Hello all! I finally got around to reacting to another Rush video. This time I picked a song that I've never heard before. La Villa Strangiato is an instrumental. If you want to know what I feel then please watch this one all the way through.
Much respect to Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart. Rush "Moving Pictures" was the first cd I bought as a kid for like $10. Tom Sawyer was the song that introduced me to this legendary band.
If you haven't see any of my previous reactions here on RUclips then I'd like to welcome you to DannymikReacts. I react to all genres of music and am now branching out to the beatbox genre and short comedy skits. So please, kick back and relax... I hope you enjoy!!

Hello Rush fans, it's been too long but here's another one for you!! How many of you are familiar with this one and have seen them perform it live? Y'all have to let me know what Rush song SHOULD be next. Thank you ALL so much!!!
Still my favorite. The whole song is basically a guitar solo, but the two separate focused solos in this song are amongst my two favorite solos for Alex all-time (which is saying a lot). The little jazz/improve section in the middle was something they started doing on this tour (not on the studio recording) and Geddy and Neil are bemused because Alex did something different every night for this and they never knew what to expect...but Alex being Alex is always entertaining...and it does prove, that Yes, his mic DOES work and is sometimes even turned on!
Hello @Michael Keller!! That's a great bit of information. I was wondering how something like that could be rehearsed.... he was all over the place 😂😂😂😂
The first solo sounded better and better upon the multiple times I listened to it while editing. Alex is a total underrated musician... he's a BEAST in this song. I love a bit on humor within a performance and this one gave me that. Glad you stopped by to check this one out and leave an awesome comment. Appreciate your time 🙌👏👊
Love watching the Boyz at work! It looks like you're ready for the deeper stuff. Rush - Xanadu (Exit Stage Left -1981) ruclips.net/video/VuHS-gjMiVw/видео.html
Hello @TexasVeteranPatriot, I'm really think that this is going to be where I'm heading next. Exit Stage Left was right up there with La Villa Strangiato as far as requests. I've never heard that one either so it's a something I'm looking forward to. Thanks for the view and "suggestion".
Xanadu- Exit Stage Left 1981
Alex Liefson is probably the most underrated guitarist on the planet
He really is underrated. The one thing that I love about the Rush music that I do know is the the way his guitar is tuned and the pedals that he uses. Such great sounding tones that my ears really enjoy. Thank you for the view and comment 😊👊👏
Alex is the best!
@@DannymikReacts Alex Lifeson is Hilarious as well. The guy has a wonderful sense of humor
@@MrZics yea when they did there induction to the hall of fame in Cleveland was hysterical
His tone!!!!!! He has his own Chord too. Like Hendrix!
Rush: Your favorite band's favorite band.
Hahahaha... I LOVE this!! I will get back to these guys again, that's for sure!
Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
27 years ago I saw a video of this song live. 27 years ago I picked up a guitar for the first time and have been playing ever since.
This comment right here is the type of comment that I LOVE reading... that's awesomeness!! Thanks for the view and for putting a smile on my face. Happy Wednesday to you 👊✌💥
I am completely amazed with this track. very progressive. At 4:01 total chills, then it takes us for a ride. Huge climax and then a mood changer at 5:15, lost it, I was like, OMG what tha, man they are absolutely the best. That bass at 7:36 total epicness. At 9:23, whoa!!!!! nice effect, caught me off guard. But hey it works. The bass tone is so iconic, I totally love it. Rush beat box would be the ultimate. Bro, another amazing reaction. Congratz!
Brooooooooo love reading the emotions you felt in your comment (on your view). The song was all over the place in certain parts but it's something that I really enjoyed. I get to learn all this new music because of what my channel represents and that's a HUGE part of why I do it. And now, I get to engage with some really cool cats, like yourself hahahaha!!
I'm starting to edit High Hopes by Nightwish right now and it should be up soon. I know you'll dig that one as well. Nightwish is the truth! Cheers to you on this Tuesday 🙌👏✌
Awesome comment! This is a slightly shortened version from the studio version (not counting Alex’s vocal improv). In the studio version starts with a flamenco style section and then a slower buildup to the main theme. It’s a multi-section song based on a night of dreams and nightmares Alex had. He wrote the main melodies upon waking but not knowing a section was from an old song used in cartoons (Powerhouse). Years later they had to pay some royalties for that section.
artemorbid If you liked Alex’s vocal section, you should listen to his Rock and Roll Hall if Fame Induction Acceptance Speech!!!
@@bobespirit2112 Oh wow, sounds great, I will definitely check it out!!! thanks for the tip.
I gotta check that out as well... probably epic!
One of my favorite songs to try to play on guitar. The second solo is insane when viewed from a standard way of playing.
That's what I always loved about his playing. He doesn't always take the road most travelled.
And that's what separates a good musician from a GREAT musician. The more I pay close attention to this band the more I appreciate their style. A 3-piece band that produces that kind of sound.... unbelievable! Thanks a lot for stopping over to check this one out. I'm thinking Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) is the next Rush reaction when I get back to them. Hope you have an awesome Thursday 👏💥💪
@@DannymikReacts
Thanks man! Can't go wrong with Xanadu, I love it!
Another powerhouse song. 👍👍
This is one of my favorite Rush songs! Incredible band with so much talent. I lobe watching them live, so Im glad you use a lot of live footage. 👍👍
When it comes to Rush I have to say that it's a better experience to watch them do their thing live. The studio stuff might sound more crisp and polished but seeing them play their instruments adds that extra element.
I'm glad that you dug this one... can't go wrong with Rush! Thanks for the view/comment 🙌👏💪
Now THIS is my kind of thing, period!! So glad you got back to these legends.... very nice!!
I KNEW you would dig this one. The more I listen to this band the more I appreciate them. Thanks as always and happy Thursday to you 👏💪💥
Alex's rants during this song are hilarious. The Rush in Rio one was awesome. "That's Jazz. Jazz...is weird."
I'm hearing about that one now that I did this one. That's the thing about doing reactions, you have no clue which version is the best. And I'm also hearing that this version cut off the beginning of the song or something like that. Regardless, I still enjoyed it a lot... even more now that I've heard it several times. Thanks for the view and comments. Happy Thursday to you 👏👊💪
Rush is such an amazing band. I used to listen to them a lot back in high school, a long with Dio, Pink Floyd and Sabbath. Awesome video Danny. 🤘
We are definitely cut from the same cloth... such good music back then. What the hell happened to music nowadays?? Anyways, thanks so much for always showing your support 🙌👏👊
Neil P-EAR-T. Like ears on your head
Hahahaha I suck! I got it now and will NEVER botch that again! The guy is a beast 🔥🎸
Rock on Danny!!!!!! RUSHHHHH
Yessss! This one was a really fun reaction for me to do... Rush is simply one of the best bands I grew up to. Too bad they will never tour again. Have an awesome night, Jackie 💥😊
This was completely improvised by Alex. Geddy and Neil gave him a free run in this section in many tours as generally it was towards the finale of the concert - they have no idea what he's likely to come up with on the hoof, so they're just trying to keep up with him. Check out the Rio version in your own time for a similar (but more straightforward improv)
It TOTALLY makes sense because he was all over the place hahaha. The Rio version is the one that I'm starting to hear about so I'll need to check it out. Fun video to react to and I hope you enjoyed it... thanks for the view and information.
Bte, I'm looking to do Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) when I get back to Rush for their next reaction 👊👏
@@DannymikReacts … hee hee, you're in for a treat. Probably the one they had to work the hardest on (especially Neil). As I've said to some other reactors, when watching their concerts, always keep an eye out for wide angle shots and in them, keep an eye on their feet (Geddy especially noted for playing Taurus pedals but Alex does too to less fanfare). For instance, in Xanadu, look out for the ambient synth part as Geddy starts singing … I think Alex is, maybe not playing it note-for-note, but is perhaps triggering it!
Lots to look forward to with that one. There's just something about listening to a song that many know and experiencing some of the key elements via a foreign ear. Then you fans jump in and mentor me with bits and pieces of key information. Gotta love it 👊
Life long Rush fan here, Neil Peart is the best drummer whom ever lived! Hands down! But we ALL know that already :) Hemispheres was a great album, you should also go back react to some of their live stuff from like 1976 - 1980 or do something off of farewell to kings, or 2112, classic Rush by far the best stuff they've done. And I agree with you and I will say Alex lifeson is one of the most baddest/ underrated guitarists ever, he never truly got the recognition he deserves. Total kudos to Alex! And don't get me started on Geddy! The man, the myth, the LEGEND! among legends. One of the best voices in rock history, and such a bad ass bassist. My god this band is a very fine wine, they just get better with age. They still got it!
Fuck that early stuff. Listen to their music and especially their lyrics from everything after 1982 and your world will be changed forever.
First of all, I had NO clue that you were such a fan... I have a couple other Rush reactions to 2 songs that I really love. The Subdivisions reaction was one of my very first on my channel (where I had no clue what I was doing).
I'm interested in both older and newer Rush. I like to hear how bands progress over time... and they are a progressive rock band so it should be interesting. Many are asking me to do Xandu (sp) from Exit Stage Left. I'm not sure if that will be my next reaction to them but it's one that gets a lot of chatter (in my comment sections).
All 3 of these guys really do their thing. Sometimes one shines more than the others but they usually have their moment(s) in each song I've heard. Thanks for everything, Durst 👊👏💥
@Surfeit when it comes to Rush the early stuff is where I'm not very familiar with what's out there. Moving Pictures and on is where it all started with me. However, they have a HUGE music library and I probably know about 15% of it. Thanks for watching 👊
Never a bad idea to start at the beginning - first album (only 1 with original drummer John Rutsey) - first song that launched their career, the hard rock epic “Working Man”.
It was obvious there was something special about these 20 year olds.
Not enough people talk about just how damn good Alex Lifeson is. Criminally underrated guitarist.
This comment is so damn true! Not only is his guitar playing great but the writing of how he plays the guitar is something that I feel in my heart. The tone of his guitar and the notes he hits. I have so much to hear and learn about this dynamic trio. Thank you for the view and your comment!
Another one of my TOP bands. Exceptional musicians.
The more I listen to these guys the more I appreciate them. Amazing musicians! Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
Dude RUSH sounds amazing and that drum set I mean bro that drum set was sick!
It's out of control, Bro!! I'd have a hard enough time playing a 3-piece drum set and this guy have like 80 options. Rush is legendary... hope you enjoyed this one, thanks 👏👊🙌
At one point in their career Geddy told Alex that the stage was not balanced. Alex had all those amps on his side. Hence, the washing machines to balance things out.
Now that is freaking funny! I got a kick out of them hence the setup on this reaction hahaha. I had to screenshot the circular part of a real set of washer and dryer and then edit it in. Anyways, hope you enjoyed this one and thank you for checking it out 👏💪
Dryers
This is my favorite Rush song most of the time. Either this, or Xanadu, or The Camera Eye.
This song was Alex's showcase when it was written and recorded, as the subtitle suggests. The part near the end where Alex took the mic is always set aside in every show for him to improv on the guitar and "rant" on the mic. Check out the LA Villa on Rush in Rio. It's hilarious.
I plan on checking that on in the near future. I see Xanadu on your list and that is the one that I plan on doing next time (when I return back to them). Great information, appreciate that.
Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
Love your commentary on Alex Lifeson. He is the unsung hero and a joy to experience.
I saw that tour in Toronto on its last night. What an awesome show!!!
All I can say is congrats for being there.... I'm a jealous fan who was too dumb to buy tickets when they were still rolling. Such an enjoyable performance here!
Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
I fell in love with Rush in college and still amazed at their talent. I could watch Neil Peart all day on those drums. Was able to catch Rush in atl a couple years back and see Neil do a solo 🔥
Hello @Stayce Hill! And you are one of the lucky ones or should I say "smart" ones that have chimed in. I was thinking that I'll catch them the next time and then they decided to retire. Ugh, not happy that I wasn't very proactive when I had the chance.
Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays (if you are celebrating a faith filled holiday). Happy Monday to you 👏💥
RIP Neil :( Such a legend. All these guys are legends. I've been on a Rush marathon ever since I heard the news.
I'm still trying to process that he passed away. I had NO CLUE that he was that sick. I knew that the band hung them up because Neil had health issues but there was nothing terminal going on that I knew of. So very sad.... now I'm pushing his solo up to the top on my reaction list. RIP Neil Peart 😢
Thank you for the view and comment 👏🙌
Timeless MAESTROS, all 3 of them! RUSH transcends time. One of the all time best rock bands ever. Over 4 decades of music and live shows too. Lots of comments on Alex being underrated. He was in the beginning, but as their careers unfolded, and they gained popularity, Alex was recognized as one of the very best, world class guitarists!
I surely glad that MOST people are thinking like that because the guy surely deserves! I really enjoy the way this band performs on stage... superior musicians! Thank you for the view and great comment 🙌👏💥
The next time I react to this band I am looking at doing Xanadu from Exit Stage Left 🤔
I have heard this song before, not quite this version though. Never knew what the name of it was though. Definitely dig me some Rush. Neil Peart is one of the GOATs! Great reaction man! Can't wait to see who you have lined up next.
Neil Peart is an animal but he's one of the best that some people don't know about. Many of the younger generation have no clue about Rush. I have a handful of reactions recorded so editing is being done whenever I can! Thanks for popping over 👏💪
Rush is one of my favorite bands, and one of the greatest bands of all time. I have big regrets because the 2-3 times they came to my home state, I said "Tickets cost too much. I'll catch 'em next time." And then there was no next time.
So happy to see you doing a reaction to this song. One of their finest instrumentals. I know Neal Peart gets most of the love instrumentally from his drum work in the band, but Alex Lifeson is right up there on the guitar side of things. Just loved ever second of this one.
while a lot of guitar heroes of this time period were like illustrators. they're precise, hyper realistic and tidy. Alex Lifeson is more like a master abstract painter. extremely passionate and expressive.
Hello @fooddood! And this performance goes hand in hand with what you just said in this comment. I'm leaning on doing Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) next when I return to them. Thank you for the view and comment 💥👏👊
I saw in several previous video that you are a Rush fan and like Alex's guitar playing, you also mentioned that you would like a song that you have not heard before. I would suggest Rush - Working Man Reaction - Live In Cleveland. You may have heard it before, but this version live is completely different and takes the musicianship to 11.
Also if you like great live rock performances, I would suggest:
QUEENSRYCHE - Take Hold Of The Flame Live in Tokyo
Queensryche - Queen Of The Reich Live in Tokyo
Pearl Jam - Black (MTV Unplugged)
Alter Bridge: "Words Darker Than Their Wings" Live At The Royal Albert Hall (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
Unleash The Archers - Awakening (Full Band Playthrough Video)
HellHeart - "A Decade in Disaster" Official Video
Oh hell yeah @shuriken48!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave me such an awesome comment. I DO dig Rush and am really starting to enjoy the style that Alex brings to the table. I need to remember your suggestion because the next song I'm doing by them will be Xanadu (Exit Stage Left). It's been requested a ton so I owe it to my viewers and subscribers.
I see a TON of great bands in your list. Alter Bridge is one that catches my eye that I've never heard a single song by. I need to get on that train asap!!! Again, I appreciate you and your support 🙌👏👊
@@DannymikReacts I couldn't agree more....definitely watch both versions of Xanadu and Working Man. Alex's solo in this live version of Working Man may very well melt your face. I suggest protective goggles, at the least! (Great reviews by the way. Keep them up!!)
I'm a life long rush freak. I've never seen this version. The washer and dryer are for real that's how they do the there laundry on the road. Roadies go out and move clothes from washer to dryers during the show
Rush "Moving Pictures" was the very first CD I bought back in the day. I loved the song Tom Sawyer and had to get it. I later learned that "Moving Pictures" is an amazing compilation of music... one song better than the other.
That setup is actually functioning for real?? That seems crazy since it would take proper plumbing 🤔
Regardless, thank you for the view and comments. I want to hit up Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) when I react to these guys once again. Hope you had a happy new year 💥👏😎
Not true. Think about it. Hooking up a water drainage system on each stage? I hope you're joking.
Dryers only. Are you trying to be funny?
One of the things that makes these guys so special is their sense of humour, and the way they play around on stage!!!
Saw Rush play 13 times, each concert an experience, all in my (and their) hometown Toronto.
The song is based on Alex's dreams (nightmares) and for a couple tours he had his time to shine vocally at this point in the song. Sometimes he ranted, sometimes he did something like this.
The song is broken into nearly a dozen segments, each with it's own name fyi.
Hello @Paul from T.O.! I'm Danny from the B-Lo (Buffalo)!! I never seen Rush and it pains me that I could've about 5-6 years ago. I watched a reaction to this song last night and it was the studio version..... sounded EPIC!! The reactors talked about how the song was broken into different stories or something like that. This band is so damn good, period!
Thank you for the view and comment. Happ 2020 to you and your family 🙌👏💥👊
You must check out the live version of Xanadu from their Exit Stage Left concert film. Nothing like it by any band, ever!
Well, this comment make me smile because the next song I'm doing by them will be Xanadu (Exit Stage Left). It's been requested a ton so I owe it to my viewers and subscribers.
I'll get to it as soon as I can... thanks for the view and suggestion. Happy Thursday to you 👏🔥🎸
You’re in for a treat! Watching the three of them recreate such a huge sound live ... you’ll be amazed! :)
Excellent! Every song is a unique experience... I'm excited for it!
ALEX LIFESON!! YAAAA! the most underrated guitarist (playing and writing) of all time
They never let Alex have the microphone because he's such a goofball lol! You have to see his Rock and roll Hall of Fame expected speech to truly understand the goofiness of Alex. Sometimes he uses that moment to introduce the band and he's really hilarious when he does it he'll say something like Geddy is George Washington and he's Fabio LoL
Totally agree about Lifeson. He is one of the best rock guitarists on the planet and doesn't get enough credit. He seems like he only got better with age right up until the band broke up.
So he's ages well just like wine... the older the better! It breaks my heart that I NEVER got to see these guys but I blame myself. I had a chance to see them about 5 years ago and just didn't think they'd be done (soon after). I guess these live versions are my only option.... thanks for watching and for leaving me a comment 🙌👏💥
2112 is the one that broke them wide open. That's when the drum grew into a monster.
And what year did 2112 come out? I'm not sure how much of that album I'm familiar with. More Rush coming at some point.... Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) is on my list.
Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
Clean. On time. Gotta love rush
I just wish I could've seen them live but I was dumb and missed the bus! It gets me so mad when I think about it 😩
The best band ever
Hello @Tim Behen! I truly LOVE the passion Rush fans have for this band!! I'm thinking Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) will be next when I return to the kings of prog rock!!
Thank you for the view and I hope you had a happy new year 👏💥👍
A reporter once asked Eddie Van Halen, what it's like to be the best guitarist, Eddie's reply, ask Alex Lifeson
Coming from him I'd say that's a HUGE compliment. Eddie was a magician on the guitar! Alex is so underrated IMO... love the tones in his guitar work!
LOVE me some Rush! This is such a unique instrumental. One helluva band. I know Neal Peart gets a lot of recognition, but the other guys are underrated IMO.
I feel that Alex gets the least amount of credit but he has some serious guitar skills and really shines in this song. Such a great band... sucks I missed my chance to see them in the past. Thanks, Wes 👊
That drum set is home. Wish I could afford it
Hello @joey joyner! Oh I'm sure that it cost a few buckeroos!!! I wish I could play any type of standard set of drums... his talent is almost alien like!!
Neil P👂t.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! The way you described the pronunciation is perfect. Neil Purt will never happen again no that I know that it's Neil P-EAR-T hahaha. Appreciate the view and comment 💪🙌👏
@@DannymikReacts Your welcome,great reaction video.
I'm glad and appreciate that. When I get to them again I'll be checking out Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) ☝💪
As an old Canadian, (I'm 57) it tickles my heart to see another generation enjoy the music of my wasted youth. If Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd had a baby, it would be called, Rush. I grew up with their early stuff. I'd suggest these:
Rush - Working Man, Anthem, A Passage To Bangkok as well as the whole album "2112", Bastille Day, Fly by Night, Xanadu, Red Barchetta
Peace from New Brunswick, Canada
(And YYZ is the airport code for Toronto Pearson Airport, Toronto, Ontario.)
Love it! I see my kids starting to enjoy bands like AC/DC and Queen so I know the feeling. I'm 43 yrs old so I'm not too far behind you. The 60s and early 70s was a GREAT time for rock & roll imo.... not so much love for the disco sound of the mid-late 70s. However, Rush was around during that time and doing their thing.
Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) is on my list so I'll make that one happen. I appreciate the information/suggestions. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
@@DannymikReacts Right on. Try some other canadian rock bands from the 70's/80's. Try these:
Triumph - Rik Emmett is underrated guitar god with the voice to match. try these songs:
Lay it on the line, Magic Power, Hold On, Fight the Good Fight, Rock and Roll Machine, Follow your heart
April Wine - Myles Goodwin is another canadian guitar god who can sing. Try these:
Sign of the Gypsy Queen, Just between you and me, I like to Rock, Roller, You could have been a lady.
Loverboy. Try these songs.
Working for the week end, Turn me loose, Lovin every minute of it
BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive). Try these songs:
Taking Care of Business, You aint seen nothing yet, Let it ride, Hey You, Gimme your money please
There's many others, but I thought I'd give you a start.Peace out and rock on.
I’m surprised this is only 14 minutes long. Rush songs normally goes for 2 hours hahaha! Love rush!
Hahahaha I get it, Bro... but their music is just so damn good!! Glad you liked this one and hope you learned another side to this band. Thanks and happy Thursday to you (well actually it's Friday now in your neck of the woods) 👏💪💥
RUSH,, A Musical Flight Demonstration Team,,,,,,, R.I.P. Neil Peart ,, A legend Lost
Hello @Craig Shapiro! Now I totally understand why Rush hung them up... I knew he had health problems but I didn't know that it was a terminal illness. So f'ng sad!! I am reacting to a drum solo that people have told me about, probably doing it later tonight or tomorrow. RIP to Neil Peart.
Thank you for the view/comment and happy 2020 to you and your family 👏👍🙌
I have been to a few Rush shows, they wrote their songs partly with performance in mind, a head of being a radio hit. The audience at those shows get drawn in and I don't think they have had a top ten hit song to do it.
This is something that I've never heard about but it's a great way to write music. A big part of being in a band is performing, right?!
Thanks for popping over to give this one a view/comment... happy Thursday to you 👊💪💥
La Villa Strangiato was their first stand-alone instrumental (as opposed to instrumental sections in longer pieces). It's always been a fan favorite. I had seen them do that song since that album came out, and it was always one of the highlights when they played that song.
Alex is a practical joker and does this once in awhile just for a laugh.
This performance was definitely a lot of fun... never seen that side of Alex but now I don't has it in him. Terrible day yesterday for this band and his fans.... RIP to Neil Peart. I will be recording my reaction to a drum solo he did VERY soon. Thank you for the view/comment and happy 2020 to you and your family 👏💥👊
Alex should always play PRS guitars, his best sound ever.
larry langley Great live, but the sound on Permanent Waves, probably mostly the Gibson ES-355 is otherworldly imho.
@larry langley, I have no clue about the difference these guitars make in the sound department but his tones make me feel some kind of way.... right in my stomach!! I'm really starting to appreciate what Alex brings to the table. Shit, I'm gaining more respect for Rush as a whole. Thank you for the view/comment 💪💥👏
@Bob E, see my comment that I left larry. Alex is simply fire!! Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) is next for Rush reactions. I'll get to it at some point for sure 😎
Alex.. big old hands .. amazing talent....
React to gbb 2020 solo wildcard winners
Gotta get some beatbox in my next reaction video... I will pick something that's hot at the moment. Thanks for popping in. Appreciate the continued support 👏✌
@@DannymikReacts this is hot. 10 elite guus, 10 styles.
Oh shit, really?? Sounds like a total win-win!! Thanks for the heads up 👊
Alex Lifeson is FIRE
That's right @Paul Hilburger! The whole band is dynamite!! RIP to Neil Peart
Only Zeppelin can hold a candle to Rush. I'd say its between Beatles, Stones the Who, Hendrix, Sabbath, Zep & Rush.
No Pink Floyd in there?? Lots of talent in your list... my gosh!! Thanks for watching and the interesting comment 👏👊
glad you did this
Once you finish the Rush journey you must listen to Neil’s last song......”the Garden” live and watch Alex’s solo and keyboard work. Neil’s daughter was tragically killed in a car crash and his wife died 10 months later of cancer. Niel took his daughters canopy bed out side and had a garden around it. The song will bring tears as we all know how the world lost a wonderful man to cancer.
I saw them do this live on the Signals tour. Alex is so underrated its stupid
Now there's a great way to put it hahahaha. Lucky you seen them because I'm the guy walking around wishing that I went when they came around in my city 5 or so years ago. I'm dumb!! Thanks for the view/comment 👏💥🙌
Ah 'MAZING right hewre buddy. Alex, Geddy and Neil are true legends, best three piece in the history of rock. I put them up there with the Police, Nirvana, but at the TOP of that list. Has a blusey yet latin feel to it moslty cause of Alex's soloing techniques. Masterpiece.
the greatest
The section where Alex takes over is reserved for Alex to improv on the mic. No two improvs are the same. It’s whatever Alex feels
"XANADU" LIVE. A must see, and hear. From the exit stage left album. first time I seen this video, Alex lifeson done some funny stuff on and off stage. He is one of the greatest guitarists in Rock.
saw them live 8 times
RUSH humbles the best musicians.
Now that's a reflection of their talent level and how great of musicians they are. I totally get it! Thank you for the view/comment 👏💪
Today the world lost a musical icon... Neil Peart 1952-2020.
Hello @David Jones!
Song was built around and to feature Alex
I dig your animated washing machines 👍🏻
Oufff, that fkn 🎸🔥😮
Nevermind, not only the guitar every single instrument is on 🔥🔥🔥
This shows that you stuck it out and paid attention to their performance! Thank you so much... appreciate the view and comment(s) 👏💥💪
This was the most “off script” version I’ve heard of this tune but cutting out the first two minutes was not good!
Based on a reoccurring nightmare/dream Alex was experiencing and managed to compose this from it.
Very interesting bit of information, @Kevin Babb! I love hearing an artist explain the writing process for music. It really helps you appreciate the different elements to the song.
As far as the beginning getting cut off, that's the problem with doing reactions. Had I known I would've chose a better version, but then it wouldn't be a genuine reaction hahaha. I will check out the Rio version on my own.
Thanks for the view/comment 👏🔥🙌
They are great. I agree with you about drum kit :) Do you know song Rush Tom Sawyer?
Hello @Bartek K! Yes I do... Tom Sawyer is the song that introduced me to this band and was the reason I bought the cd "Moving Pictures". In fact, Moving Pictures is the very first cd I ever purchased back in the day. Tom Sawyer is so damn creative... love that one!
The 2nd half of THIS song is so damn fun! Hope you enjoyed this reaction. Thanks for stopping by and then leaving a comment.
The name is 'P-ear-t! lol
He doesn't do his pick slid in the solo any more :-(
He doesn't?? I wonder why he would change that or take it out. I love that sound! Thank you for the view, happy Sunday to you 👊🙌
Kirk Hammett describes this as "the perfect guitar solo."
So it's no wonder you singled out Alex's work on this.
And I am a big fan of Metallica so I respect Kurt's words. Great GREAT performance here!
Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
RIP Neil Peart
Ridiculous drum kit, yes, but he plays every single one of 'em!! lol
That's "Lurch"...he shows up every once in a while :)
This isn't the best version of this song, but it's still amazing.
He wrote this song After a nightmare he had. FACT
Honeyyyyyyyyyy!!!!
YYZ in the US. YYZED in Canada.
it was his night mare whne he was a kid
Neil Peeeeeert
This is not from Rush in Rio. This is from R30 in Frankfurt.
its a night make for a kid. allix when he was a kid.
that is just Alex being Alex. if you want to watch something really funny watch Alex's part of their Rock n Roll Hall of Fame speech.
Hello @Doug R! I've never seen Alex go off like that but it was definitely entertaining. I've read a couple comments mentioning this so I'll RUclips it and check out that speech. I hope you are having a good holiday and thank you for the view/comment 👏👍💥
change the video from Rush at R3O to Rush in Rio and you get fans singing along to the... well... there are no lyrics... singing along to the melody of the guitars.
I hear you @Rogério Penna!! When I reacted to YYZ (Live in Rio) the crowd was INSANE I'm hearing that the La Villa Strangiato version is epic! Regardless, this song was so entertaining.... Lifeson was GREAT!! Thank you for the view and comment 💪🙌👍
and good bra.
I'm actually not a fan of this version. It cuts off the opening solo and complete goes off the rails in the section where Alex sings. None of that is in the song. It gets back to the song once he's done. There was also a distracting delay attached to one if his solos that was distracting. You need to hear the original, which is from 1978, not 1979. This us a bad version, as they don't do bad versions, it's just not the best.
The coolest bit about the R30 set is the R30 Overture, an instrumental medley of one song per album (6 songs) that leads into I believe Spirit of Radio.
I do like Alex's mid-song rant about how easy it is to be a singer, in the Rush in Rio version of the song though :)
So that's the problem with doing a reaction to something that you've never heard. I have NO clue what I missed or if there's a better version I should've chose over this one. I simply have to go with what I click on and then digest it for what it is. I will take a look at what you're referring to so I understand. Regardless, the first solo Alex did was freaking fire IMO.
You would think anything from the R30 would be epic... nothing I can do about it now hahaha. Thanks for being honest and letting me know about the details. Next up will be High Hopes by Nightwish (Pink Floyd). Starting to edit it today so I hope it's ready soon.
Rush in Rio must be a version I have to check out.... thanks!!
@@DannymikReactsI recommend the studio version and then the version from either Exit Stage Left, or earlier which starts with Alex displaying a wounded finger.
@@johncampbell756 Pink Pop festival - yeah, that one really displays Alex "showing off" but it also skips the intro.
Now you know why no one dares to, or can, cover this tune...
These musicians owned that stage in this performance! I need to get to Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) soon because I need more Rush! Thank you for the view/comment and I hope you have a happy new year 👏👍🙌
@@DannymikReacts By the way, Neil's last name sounds like "Peert"...
I know I know hahaha... the Rush fans have spelled it out for me. Neil P ear t 😊👍
@@DannymikReacts You have been "schooled"...LOL!
I'd like a channel where Kanye reacts to RUSH, consisting of at least one member who composes, plays bass, keyboard, Taurus pedals, sings.
Reaction: I sample lame shit and lay down beats.
Hmmmm interesting idea... are you not a fan of Kanye?
This performance was so damn fun and enjoyable! Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
you can't go wrong with Rush, you could throw a dart at their song list and be good.
though we all will say you gotta do 2112 if you don't know it, but how about Roll The Bones ??
Hello.try xanadu they will blow ur mind. Thx
React to Rush Xanadu.
That is my plan for when I get back to them next. I'm going with Exit Stage Left performance since so many have requested version 👏
So hard to play this song right! Try the studio version to get all of the nuances & ghost notes. This live recording isn’t that great.
The studio version and the one in Rio is what I need to check out. Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
Peart = peert
I know, I know... feel like a jerk saying his name wrong! RIP to one of the best playing those drums!
Hi there, we're Rush and we're better than your favorite band.
Hahahaha that's a great way to put it. The more I listen to these guys the more I appreciate their talents. This one was totally enjoyable to react to.
Thanks for watching and for the comment. Hope you have a great Thursday 👏💥
"Xanadu" is another great song of these guys: ruclips.net/video/VuHS-gjMiVw/видео.html
Thank you so much because I'm leaning on doing Xanadu (Exit Stage Left) for my next Rush reaction... if that makes sense. Which link did you leave me; I don't want to click on it right now because I want it to be a surprise for a future reaction.
Thank you for the view and suggestion 😊💥👊
@@DannymikReacts It's exactly that version. The best one.
Okay cool!!! I won't click on it just yet. I store my reactions in a RUclips playlist so it's going in there. I have a handful of other reactions to edit right now but I'm PUMPED to do that one. Thanks again 👊👍
he wroat it Alix
sorry you missed out
You should have listened to the studio version of this first
Hello Olde Dominion! You're right... I still haven't heard that version yet. Regardless, this video was a lot of fun to react to. Man they are such good musicians!!
Thank you for the view and comment. I hope you had a good holiday and I wish you the best in 2020 🙌👍
no, it's yyz
It's so confusing because I have people in the YYZ reaction telling me that it's YYZed... why would they say that? Thank you for checking this one out. Alex melts my heart with the tones of his guitar! I have The Camera Eye and Xanadu (Exit State Left) on my list of Rush songs I'm interested in. Thanks!!
@@DannymikReacts i don't know. i have been a Rush fan since 1977 when i first heard 2112 and then got to see them that year for the Farewell to Kings tour. saw them 13 or 14 more times since then. anyway, i never heard zed ever. just yyz.
it is the Airport Code that you see on your luggage tag when you fly out of the Toronto Airport. every airport has a 3 letter code.
I'd love to see you react to Roll The Bones. the studio version.
@@DannymikReacts Xanadu just kicks butt.
I remember hearing "Roll The Bones" back in the 90s when Rush was still pushing their music out there. It was a radio song so I have heard it but perhaps I can really dig into it and break it down. Thanks again 👊
Btw, I really enjoy hearing from fans of these groups who have some good stories. I bet those Rush concerts were some of your best music experiences 😎
@@DannymikReacts well, if you already heard, it. yeah i guess it was a radio song, really don't matter. i would watch someone react to every Rush song from first to last. that would be a lot of shows.
Not the best version. The sound is muddled. There are much better vids of this song on youtube.
