The BEST line in the entire film was one word. Stuart, as a waiter, saying “No” to a restaurant diner’s request for a second cocktail. The second was “Is there any way you can get to a pound cake?”.
Roger Ebert gave this a 3/4 and if you know anything about Ebert thats pretty amazing. He's given shit ratings to excellent films. He saw SOMETHING here and thats weird but cool.
A hidden gem that's infinitely quotable: "I am a worthy human being?" "I got the perfect title for it: 'Waste of Space,' huhhhhaaa." "Sir Clean-a-lot!" "Sorry...I DIDN'T go to Yale!" "No! Dad shot Donnie...he shot him and...he, he SHOT him!" "That was NOT a quality ham!" "On the SALAD!"
i unapologetically love "Its Pat" - for me, the gender of Pat as a joke takes a backseat to how much of a brat pat is. "People! your talking again!!!" as pat drunkenly monopolizes the karaoke machine 😂😂😂 i know im the only one who likes it because i never had trouble renting it from blockbuster haha. really not trying to convince anyone its good, but i was genuinely surprised by how universally hated it is!😅
Yeah, the one note joke became a two note joke and not a comedy where we reveal that Pat is a normal... Person but a bit odd anyways. Instead, Pat was a dickhead, no pun whatsoever, throughout.
i had, like, 3 dvds of brokeback mountain, still in cellophane, because people kept giving it to me when they didn't know anyone else who'd watch it. i saw it once
Maybe the best line is when Stuart's mother and brother get mad at his father for picking on Stuart, and his father's comeback line. But I won't give it away.
You forgot about "The Ladies Man". Which has the funniest pick up line in history. "Excuse me Ms., was your father a meat burglar? Because it looks like somebody stole two fine holiday hams and shoved them down the back of your dress!"😂😂😂
I'm a minnesotan, and it would be a stretch to say I "met" Al Franken, but he was shaking hands at an event, and I told him I was a huge Stuart Smolly fan. I thought I was being funny at the time, but he probably got that on a regular basis.
Wayne's World and the Blues Brothers made people think that these sketches could be box office hits and didn't realize it was actors that were big hits.
This is actually my favorite SNL movie. It's sincere, and sweet, and totally atypical of the cynical comedies of the 90s. Don't get me wrong, that kind of comedy has its place too, but not for this character. Consider how they ruined It's Pat by making almost every character in that film so unbelievably unlikeable, cruel, and apathetic, even the main character. Pat deserved a more gentle film, even though that too would have likely bombed at the time.

I watched this movie in rehab and in that context it was fantastic. Far better than just about anything else we could have been doing in group.
i watched it at group

You're channel is an absolute delight. Keep up the great work
Glad you enjoy it!
Your Pauly Fuemana impression is top notch I thought it was really him singing "buy the rights" 😂
I liked “Stuart Saves His Family”, and it’s great to know that it has a cult following. It deserves its recognition.
Absolutely agree
I didn't even know Harold Ramis directed this! Now I'm kinda interested, since I totally ignored it at the time.
Blew my mind when I found out

It's actually a really interesting failure. I never thought Stuart Smalley was funny, but the movie actually plays more as a drama than comedy.
Birds Anonymous is one of my favorites on this type of subject.

I'm gonna have to give it a try at some point to see if its really that bad
One of the best scenes of that movie was Weens appearance...it was badass🙏

God I saw this and “it’s Pat” in the theaters . Ranked up there with Martin Shorts “Clifford”
I still don't know how I feel about Clifford
Clifford ain’t bad. I find Martin Short annoying and unfunny, but it worked well for the premise. Jiminy Glick is alright too for this same reason.
you know, i watched this in group

Love this review
ok, watch list. you convinced me.
You should!
Its Pat was so bad I rented it and could not finish it to this day I have never finished that movie
I watched about 3 minutes of it while watching this video and I cannot figure out how they stretch that premise for 90 minutes
@@PopCultureHyperfixations I could not either what I watched it drug on
I liked all SNL films
Even "It's Pat"?
Lorne Michaels at his creativity bankrupt best, just like with all of his SNL films. With the exception of Wayne's World.
Great movie.Who cares about what it did at box office.
You lost me at the description of Al Franken. Didn't watch beyond 2:30.
2:07 seriously? Read what actually happened. And Coneheads and Night at the Roxbury were great. Were you actually alive when these movies came out?
He used the word "allegedly."
Coneheads was not great
@@StarBlue42
Yeah, I think Dan Akroyd sucks in general and is super overrated.
dude i was alive and Night at the Roxbury is BOOOOORING.
@@matboes7493 I'm sorry you have no comedic taste, lots of people don't understand humor. 😉
This. Movie. Sucked.
-honest people
Im glad you got to this before Hats Off Entertainment
Thanks!
hat's off! is that a reference to camus' the plague? well, it is when i say it
Is Snl dead? A headline from 1994... if they only knew
is snl dead is something people've said since season 2, of course, all that was before they got that eminem impersonator who only sings to sell tech
