I find myself shopping in a much more careful and thoughtful way now! We have Christmas in the heat of summer, so my little black dress will be made by myself, as I can sew, and will be a lightweight fabric in an A-line loose fit. Making also at least one gorgeous, delicate black lace blouse to be worn under the sleeveless dress on some occasions. You truly inspire me! When I went shopping for two cool summer dresses and sandals earlier this week, I found myself often saying "non, non!" Thank you dear Marie-Anne!
Marie-Anne, your advice is truly a blessing. I may have spent a lot of money this season on clothes, but I can honestly say that I love my style and everything goes together. And I have you to thank for that😘
Thank you, Marie Anne! I just adore watching you build outfits from one basic piece. It's so interesting and helpful to see you go through the process from the start. There's an intellectual piece to it, and an experimental side of it as well. :) For my LBD look, I usually tie a long chiffon black scarf in a bow and pin it to my left shoulder. I then pair with black patent pumps, black patent handbag, and cream pearl dangle earrings. :) Thinking of outwear in winter and making it harmonize with my outfit is always an interesting piece for me... I think I would pair with a black coat with a sparkling brooch for Christmas. :)
Finally had a chance to enjoy your video. I adore listening to you and there is nothing better than a combination of comedy and elegance.....bravo👏👏👏 xx💕
J’adore the faux fur scarf & pink hat!!! I have a multi strand necklace of pearls & gold that I have for plain clothes. Merci Marie-Anne!! Another fun & informative video. XO
Thanks Marie...I love all your suggestions... went to Christmas dinner party with my co-workers...wore my black Burberry dress... since I knew most of the women would wear something red...I opted for a white jacket and a single strand of pearls with a little red in between the pearls...I could hardly believe all the compliments I received... thanks so much for your inspiration...
You can never go wrong with a classic, tasteful, feminine black dress. I particularly like a 3/4 sleeve and past the knees with a v-neck, so you can wear it in all weather. A Diane VonFurstenberg style of a wrap dress looks great on any body type. I am currently looking for a New wrap dress for my plus size. They last one I had for over 20 years and I finally said goodbye to it.I loved wearing Red lips💄💋 and my pearl necklace and earrings my husband gave me or a red scarf tied at the neck.
I never would have thought to accessorize my LBD with a faux fur scarf but I love this look and I’m going to steal it 😉 I also love to wear my LBD with a statement coat. It is the perfect understated backdrop for my black velvet coat with colorful floral embroidery and faux fur trim from Betsey Johnson 😎
I have for many years accessorised my little black dresses in all of the ways you have shared with us here - and love the simple effects of accessories, which often will also give an unexpected "wow". 😊 Excellent, Marie- Anne. 👏 xx
I love the black faux-fur scarf and the white jacket is wow! You know what would be nice for parties would be a black cape to go over the black dress. Since I sew, maybe that will be my winter project. Merry Christmas!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Marie-Anne. Thank you so much for teaching me to be stylish. I now shop very carefully and only buy classic clothing. You have saved me a small fortune.
It's funny that I didnt know I was dressing in the French style for such a long time without even knowing it.....my wardrobe was mainly black & white, with no plunging necklines, usually suit jackets over a dress, skirt & blouse, or top & pants, with simple accessories. I love your bright pink hat!
I love these ideas for an elegant evening out. Pearls or something a blingy necklace and yes the fur scarf and bright hat. It is winter and most evening wear is not warm. This I can wear and be elegant and warm. Even dressy suede boots would work.
love it all but then I am someone who loves black and navy columns. I can appreciate all styles on other ladies whose body types suit. It is Christmas Eve where I live and Madame I just wanted to wish you and your family a wonderful and safe Noel and to all of your followers have a safe and happy holiday..... I will wear mine with small diamond jewellery and black tights only. With the special collar it is a stunner on it's own. I have a simple one out of heavy jersey that I wear with cardigans and blazers to the office a lot.
Love the white jacket with black detail. I will be wearing a black and white sunfrock in 35 degrees Celsius heat here in Queensland, Australia. But will add the pearl earrings! Merry Xmas dear Marie-Anne xxx
Perfect Timing! I've been distracted & had not yet planned my Christmas eve outfit! The LBD is perfect and I'll wear it with pearls and some red lacey heels! Merci!
You inspired me to wear my black velvet dress tonight for Christmas Eve with my pearls. A few years ago, I had my jeweler combine a strand of pearls with a diamond brooch that my husband gave me. Now it’s my favorite necklace, A bit of sparkle with the pearls.
Bonjour Marie Anne! I loved this video of dressing up my black dress. I take your advice to heart, it has helped me know what I really like and want to wear and letting go of things that don't suit me. Loved your faux fur scarf, and accessories. Merci and happy new year to you ❤
That faux fur scarf is wonderfully different, and the hat is delightful. For Christmas, I'd wear LBD with a Chanel style plaid wool jacket with green, red and gold running through it (from the late 80s). Add pearl studs or 3-pearl clip-ons inherited from my mom.
Subtle details really stand out with a simple black dress! If it's going to be a long and busy afternoon/evening, then a simple dress is ideal; you can just put it on and forget about it, teaming it up with patterned tights, some discreet jewellery and statement make up.
pearls with black dress is such a timeless and beautiful combination…. you look (as always) so elegant, stylish and beautiful and that outfit you are wearing is impeccable...merci for everything, and a Happy Christmas and the best 2020 Marie- Anne!
As I was watching... I thought oh ok that's nice, and oh ok I like that. THEN you got the faux fur out, THE hat and some killer shoes ( which I have a similar pair of)..... and then my heart started beating!!! And I thought oh now there you have it... a killer outfit!! A lady after my own heart!
I have a little black lace jacket that would look beautiful over my sleeveless black dress. I love lace for the holidays. Thank you Marie-Anne for a year of outstanding videos. All the best for a Merry Christmas and wonderful 2020!

Mommy, I love your simple black dress! :) I have been looking for my perfect black dress for years. Still haven’t found it but maybe 2020 will be the year.
Marie-Anne, French women prefers to always wear red lipstick and red nail colour. What do you do if you are wearing pink? To me, red lips with cerise pink top, a no no.Please advise. Thank you.
Marie-anne, The Look? Elegant! I really liked both jackets! Would have a hard time deciding. But with the black jacket the faux fur scarf looked smashing! The hat a inspired pop of color! Very nice with your long black coat, because " of course its winter" ... in Normandie! Unfortunately, in Texas it's again 70°F = 21.1 °C vs there! So the long coat & faux fur are out!! If it were really cold here (like 29° F = -1.6 C), I'd wear a politically incorrect, but beautiful and warm genuine fur coat! Loved the simplicity of your elegant styling of the LBD ! Hope you have a wonderful Christmas Day & week, as well as a prosperous New Year! I'm so glad I stumbled onto your channel! I'm keeping it, though cancelling others. Thank you for teaching us classic style vs. the weekly "buy, buy, buy" fast fashion so many others advocate!! You are a breath of fresh air!! Merry Christmas❣❤❤💞💞 Shirley
More great advice, thank you Marie-Anne. I adore your faux fur stole, or collar. I have been looking at some recently, in John Lewis. I've seen one in black and the same again in silver grey but another entirely different, in a fresh mustard yellow. I think all will go well to brighten my coats this winter. I'm just waiting for the winter sales before making my choice ;) Happy Christmas to you!
That's a gorgeous outfit - and the hat is stunning. A truly eye-catching pop of colour, just perfect for winter. I have a question... If you are beginning to think properly for the first time about a curated wardrobe but you're on a very tight budget, what would be the first thing to buy? I have some nice trousers (and some that will do for now!) and skirts, some nice tops and a couple of pairs of shoes. It's really easy to look at all the nice things I would like to buy, but I don't know what I should think about getting first - a really nice pair of shoes for example, or a jacket. And of course there will be sales after Christmas, I'd like to maximise my spending power and get something for my wardrobe - but what?!
@@MarieAnneLecoeurthanks for replying! I've recently moved, so I've started decluttering but it's something to continue doing and now with a goal in mind other than just not taking things with me that I don't need. Joyeux Noel et bonne année!

For "dress up", with a black dress, I would wear my pearl and diamond studs with matching pendant, pearl and diamond ring, and double-row diamond tennis-style bracelet watch. OR__same watch, and marquesite earrings and necklace (I LOVE marquesite!). OR__same watch, my fire topaz stud earrings, and a colorful crystal brooch. OR__if not too dressy an environment, I would wear black pants with black 3/4 sleeve, boat-neck fitted top, and my Baltic amber nugget necklace with (somewhat) matching earrings, or I would wear the nugget earrings, with the necklace wrapped around my wrist as a bracelet! Shoes would be same with any of those choices: my purple suede, sling-back pumps! 😘👌👏💎🙌🙌🙌😺
Bonjour Mon cherie Marie-Anne, trust you're well and enjoying the Xmas time... Yesterday bought at a charity shop here in Eastbourne a fabulous damson coloured woollen coat for ony five pounds, incredible... I actually don't possess a black dress but Do have at least five faur fur scarves, which I wear with jumpers and over my various winter coats, and love them all.. Have a wonderful Xmas and see you again in 2020 paula x
Marie - Ann ✨🎄✨ ✨ Joyeux noël et bonne annee 2020! ✨ I’ve been waiting for this Thank you! Love your little black dress, the white jacket and all your recommendations. During the winter I wear a black velvet and leopard print 2 sided scarf, or a black on black velvet lacy jacket. I’ve also worn a fuchsia shawl with it at a restaurant during dinner. Sometimes I wear booties with lace stockings. Less is best 👏 Such a classic versatile must in a woman’s wardrobe.
The fuchsia hat is fantastic with the black coat; that is a great idea. I am surprised that you do not mention Chanel bags or Vuitton bags because those are French brands. Merry Christmas to you.

The shoes sound stunning!

Excellent video, Marie-Anne. Joyeux Noel à vous and votre famille!
I like to wear my little black dress with a statement belt and a bold red lipstick.
Magnifique! ❤️
Hey mami! 😊 indeed you are like a mama to some of us believe it or not. Merry Christmas to you and your family my French mama! 😊
Have a wonderful Xmas and see you again in 2020 paula x
once in a while I like to wear a pin vs a scarf. just a little extra sparkle but not too much.
Joyeux noel & merci
Marie - Ann ✨🎄✨
✨ Joyeux noël et bonne annee 2020! ✨
I’ve been waiting for this
Thank you!
Less is best 👏
Such a classic versatile must in a woman’s wardrobe.

Hi Mummy! It’s great when you crack up laughing, we do, too🙂
The fuchsia hat is fantastic with the black coat; that is a great idea. I am surprised that you do not mention Chanel bags or Vuitton bags because those are French brands. Merry Christmas to you.
Merci beaucoup!💕💕💕
Thank you ...very nice!! 💞
Marie Anne ...Joyeux Noel...
I would add a sparkly pin, earrings& some bracelets
Merry Christmas! Looking forward to seeing your style and fashion ideas in the New Year 🎉
Marie-Anne Lecoeur A Merry Christmas message on Christmas Day? Bless you Marie-Anne that’s nice of you. The Queen has the 3:00PM slot though, she’s had it for years. 😁 I only mention it in case you don’t want it to clash!!
@@karensetchfield3495 The Queen always looks classy, too - I heard somewhere that she once said she wears bright colours otherwise nobody would recognise her! 😯😯🤔😀🇬🇧
Teverell Yes, I believe she’s quite short in stature so could otherwise easily be missed by people at the back of a crowd of onlookers during her walkabouts 🙂
Merry Christmas Anne- Marie.🎄🎄🇬🇧xxx
