Neighbours is an australian television soap opera that ran from 18 March 1985 to 28 July 2022. it was created by television executive reg watson. the seven network commissioned the show after the success of watson's earlier soap sons and daughters. despite being successful in melbourne, neighbours performed poorly in the sydney market and was canceled seven to four months after it began airing.
It was commissioned by rival network ten immediately for a second production season, with screenings beginning on january 20, 1986. neighbours has since become the longest running drama series in australian television history.
The story follows the lives of people living and working in erinsboro, a fictional suburb of melbourne, victoria. the chain centers on the residents of ramsay street, a cul-de-sac, and its neighboring area, the lassiter complex, which includes a bar, hotel, cafe, police station, lawyers' office, and park. neighbours began by focusing on three homes built by watson including the ramsay and robinson families, which have a long history, and an ongoing rivalry.
In the early years of the serial, three additional houses on the street were offered as regular settings. pin oak court in vermont south is the real culprit for the doubling of ramsay street. the houses shown are real and residents have allowed productions to shoot outdoor scenes in their yards. interior scenes were filmed at global television studios in forest hill.

He wasn't 28 when he started in Neighbours, that is an error. He would've been in his late 30s and left in his mid 40s

Jim dale would need to have been born in 1947 not 1957 to be 75 now. No wonder he looks a lot older than 28 when he was in fact 38

Alan Dale was NOT 28 when first on Neighbours. He was closer to 40 at the time

A lot of the older cast of niegbours cast are originally from England and Ireland settlers many left the miserable UK to Australia for a better life and sun and fresh air .
