i have had 3 of these hot water dispensers.. each one has had to have had STOP pressed when the cup is full, i have not seen an automatic stop dispenser. manual says press stop.. maybe you should have read the manual before giving this one a bad review..i love mine, it is a great dispenser. !!
And maybe you should have read what I wrote before getting sarky! The manual at the time said that it stops when the switch is released - it didn't! Glad you love yours but I wouldn't touch anything by Andrew James again after bad experiences with other items in their range.
at first it sounded as the andrew machine was the worst but then when u said u press button to stop i thought, yes thats amazing, where as the breville did a small cup, how would i fill a big mans mug up? do i press again to boil then have it over flow or is there a button on the breville to stop it?
It does fill a good size mug which is why I had to choose the mugs for my B&B carefully to prevent overflow. A woman would use a jug just as you would for smaller amounts. One burst and don't use it all for a lady teacup, two bursts and don't use it all for a man mug! :) Seriously though, if you have a large family or drink a lot of beverages the larger version of this machine would suit for a few pounds extra. You can set it to dispense NINE different cup sizes with the auto stop function AND there is an emergency stop button if you change your mind at half a cup. www.breville.co.uk/breakfast/hot-water-dispensers/hotcup-with-variable-dispense-gloss-black/VKJ318-01.html#q=hot+cup&start=2
The Andrew James 2.5L is a manual hot water dispenser, all of them like that whether it's AJ, Vonshef or Cooks Professional are manual, it tells you on the website and on the box so you've obviously not read it properly, if you want an andrew James with the Automatic off then buy the 4L purify
I can read perfectly well, thank you and if you read my write-up properly you would see how it was being sold AT THE TIME. You will also notice that this review is almost 2 years old and at the moment it seems to be mostly unavailable even on their own website so hopefully they have withdrawn it from sale. The Breville is still the tops and one of our three is now over 5 years old and still going strong.
We have the Breville Hot Cup. Great product apart from the disappointing water temperature which is not really hot enough for tea. I think the product would be great for an elderly person however as it’s much safer than using a kettle. The emergency “Stop” flow is also very effective in preventing overflows, should the dispense quantity setting not be set to the right value by the user.
You've totally missed the point that it was mis-sold as "cutting off automatically" and in a busy household with children, pets, doorbells, or in our case B&B guests it is very easy to get distracted and leave it running. I'm a pretty sensible person and was filling a mug for a guest when the other guest asked for something and I instinctively turned to get it for them and completely lost track of the machine still dispensing boiling water. Obviously in your perfect world where you can keep an eye on it with no distractions it couldn't happen!

Yes, but the point is... if you are distracted by your phone or the door... you could scold your kids or a pet or anything in the way.
I'm still running three Brevilles, one in our own kitchen that's over 6 years old, one in the guest breakfast room (4 years old) and a tw-year-old in the guest bedroom which is very popular as they don't have to wait for their cuppa when they come in from their hard day being tourists! www.teifiriverbank.com
Specialist subject - deliberately missing the point? If you took in what the video was about you would realise that it was mis-sold as having an automatic shut-off and it doesn't have one. It could be dangerous for an older person who is forgetful or someone with small children around as it takes a stupidly long time to dispense the water so it's easy to become distracted. It shouldn't just keep spewing out boiling water until it runs out!
Can't speak for the Breville, but the Andrew James' Cook's Professional is PATHETIC. It will only dispense one average mug, before cutting out, so you have to give it a few minutes to coo; itself down before starting another. If you wanted to serve just 4 mugs of tea or coffee, it would take you the best part of half an hour. Also, after less than a year, it's "tired" and cutting out earlier and earlier, each day. Got this last Christmas and will be surprised if it sees me beyond this coming one (it's late September, now). There's just me (NOT a family of four) and it can't keep up with just one person who only uses it for hot drinks throughout the day. Whenever guests arrive, I have to dig out the old kettle I was hoping this heap of junk was going to retire.
We've had one of our Brevilles now for over 10 years and it's still going strong! Have two others that were for our B&B now closed and guests loved how quickly they could make a drink. It takes 30 seconds to dispense a mug so even making multiple drinks is fast and you can do 5 with the small one before refilling. Use it for stock cubes, jellies and all sorts and it is so useful! Freemans are still selling my model, the VKJ142 and at just £38. I paid more than that for all three of mine! www.freemans.com/products/breville-vkj142-hotcup-water-dispenser-black/_/A-61B584_?GoogleProductList&PLA&Electricals_SmallKitchenAppliances_Kettles&B584&ns_campaign=Electricals_SmallKitchenAppliances_Kettles&ns_mchannel=PLA&ns_source=GoogleProductList&ns_linkname=61B584&ns_fee=0&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpc-oBhCGARIsAH6ote-Fegu7Hy8ypm5IdGH6nDMDMTd19WahGtm7nrxSvD2H0sHeUe2tPtoaAoa6EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Wow!!!

does the breville heat all the water in the tank each time or just enough for a couple of cups ?
Just one cup at a time - when it first came out it was called the One Cup. Love it and wouldn't have anything else!
Il go with the breville , Thanks :)

I don`t understand why deceive customers and claiming 100C, even Caso doing that and they are German ! They are always precise with numbers.
Nobody is measuring temps...
I am
Or you could just keep an eye on it and turn it off when the cup is filled to your liking....who would have thought huh!?!

Press the button then. Not dangerous to an adult operating

Sounds like China to me.
