The A380 it's an amazing airplane...........BUT..........the 747 is with no doubt a proven legend of aviation and so much better looking. Best looking plane ever.
MpowerLife No comparison, the 380 looks like a brick with wings, very utilitarian, the 747 is art having the great lines, the tapering from the deck into the body is cool personified, I love the nose and profile, I'm pleased Boeing didn't make any dramatic changes
When I heard Lufthansa was bringing the -8 to LAX I knew we could rely on SpeedbirdHD to capture it :) awesome conversation between the pilot and ATC too!

The 747-8 is operating Frankfurt-LAX and the 744 will operate, but seasonally, when there's 2 daily Frankfurt flights. The other flight is from Munich with the A346.

Stunning aircraft!!! It is more attractive than the A380. I still like the A380 for comfort but given a chance to try this, I might find this more comfortable. I few in a 747-400 and that wasn't all that comfortable but I hear that this baby is going to be fantastic. Great video as always...keep it up!!!
It's a very nice video. I love the 747-800, she really is a beauty. But she isn't their flagship, that's the Airbus A380. And in my opinion the A380 is the most beautiful aircraft in the world, just shortly before the 747. Go Lufthansa!!
Another awesome capture by Speedbird. I must say, though, the water salute was really lame. I love the idea of it, but the fire trucks always seem to be too far from the plane and the water cannon never actually arcs over to the other side.... it just misses and falls on the wing. lol. Can't the fire trucks get just a little bit closer?
Will the 744 still operate here although the 748 is here. I don't spot at LAX often. Aren't there two flights from Frankfurt a day to LAX on Lufthansa?
You just cannot beat the 747 - Newer planes like the ab380 just dont look sleek like the 747 - And to fly in the very front, you are actually ahead of the pilots and can even see a bit forward due to the curve of the fuselage - The 747SP was also great - It was build for PanAm to fly non-stop new york-tokyo as the 747-100 did not have the range. I've been on over 100 747 flights and would fly one tomorrow to nowhere just for the flight experience

Best of luck to you - I worked my way up from National and Pan Am in sales and managed travel for Merrill Lynch, but always wanted to be a pilot and it just didin't work out because of a minor medical issue. Maybe you can fly?!

Much as I would love to fly on the 747-8, I'm glad I wasn't on the inbound flight. He slammed it down! The water cannon welcome was a very nice touch.

He said that the Airbus A380 is bigger but it will take millions to come up to the level of the 747.
