  • 🇵🇪 Did you know that Peru is home to some of the oldest traditions of ceremonial cacao in the world? The ceremonial cacao temple of Monte Grande dating back to 5500 bc is re-writing the journey of cacao. Built by the Chinchipe tribes of northern Peru the temple is literally the womb of cacao where it was birthed into domestication and connection to humanity. The temple tells us the story of cacao and its use and significance. The Chinchipe used pure ceremonial cacao as a sacred drink to connect to the spiritual world and guide their process of re-birth. It was seen as the blood of the earth and provided physical and spiritual nourishment.
🐍 Our Amaru ceremonial cacao honours their knowledge, wisdom and traditions. We share their story, give them a voice and support the amazing history and culture of cacao in South and Central America. Our Amaru follows their cosmovision and supports the farmers and communities that produce it, bringing authentic ceremonial cacao to New Zealand for us to be able to share in our own communities. We are blessed to be able to be part of the story of these ancient tribes and share their knowledge. Started off wondering what a red velvet cake is and finished here, filled with admiration for the ancient peoples of south America. From Chile we thank you for preserving and disseminating information about this rich culture, their cosmology, and tradition.
