For me, it was the perfect farewell to Cas. I agree with you about Dean's reaction. Would it have been nice to see Dean verbalize his feelings? Yes. Has Dean ever verbalized his feelings? How many times has Dean said "I love you" to anyone in 15 seasons? The boy is not good emotions. So, for me this fits SO WELL with who he is and how the he expresses his feelings. And I am so on board with what you said about the strong bond. I get that some people are disappointed because we don't get to see a hug, we don't get to see a kiss, we don't get to see a clear verbalized reciprocity but for me the relationship they have and the love Cas has for Dean is so much more than all those things, Cas' love for Dean is so big that he does not need reciprocity, as he says, it's not about "having". It just goes beyond that traditional "I love you - You love me" schemes so I think it is a love declaration but from a way wider, non-earthly point of view. Am I making any sense? Having said this, the show is not over yet. So I am hoping to see more of a reaction/any kind of reference to this Cas lil speech (Dean talking to Sam or Jack about what happened? Cas comes back? Prayer to Cas? Gosh, I hope it's a prayer to Cas). Also, I totally relate with Cas being there through all your transitions in life. I started watching this when I was 15 and I am now 25 so not ready for it to be over. Lastly, someone told me next week's episode is a Buckleming episode. Thoughts on this? Im scared. in my opinion i really didn't want cas to sacrifice himself particularly for jack, but idk like sacrificing for dean in that way just seemed so beautiful and poetic and full circle ya know?? like cas' first words were dean winchester is saved and he kept on saving him right till the end.
The fact that he kept a smile on his face while he was dying knowing he was doing it to save his friends, was absolutely beautiful. This episode was so well done.
I am equally sad and happy. I agree that Cas got a good ending, but it’s so damn bittersweet. He‘s also my comfort character and I just think he deserves to be happy. I‘m still hoping that he‘ll return though, it’s kinda hard for me to care about the show now, but oh well it’s spn what did we expect
I agree with everyone saying that this isn’t gonna be cas’ last scene, even without all the other factors suggesting misha was on set for the final. His story just feels unresolved, especially with the whole Dean didn’t say anything plot point. It just doesn’t feel like a complete ending to me. I don’t think we’ll see him next episode but definitely in the 2 hour finale.

Alley, I was so worried about you reacting to this episode. I knew you would be devastated knowing how much you love Destiel, and Cas. But Cas finally said it, he said OUT LOUD that he loves Dean. That Dean changed him and made him a better Angel. I feel like I was brilliant acting on the part of Jensen, a spectacular farewell monologue by Misha, and Richard Speight Jr directed it beautifully. If you didn't shed a at least one tear during that scene, you're not human. Can't wait to watch the last two episodes. And double dipping into the comments, just to say, Dean lost Cas (which WAS HUGE and left Dean crying in the end) BUT, Sam had to stand there and watch EVERYBODY ELSE die. Eileen, of course, upset him. But then Sam had to see Charlie, and Bobby, and EVEN DONNA, (not to mention all the random hunters in the silo) just disappear before his very eyes. Very sad, very traumatic episode for the Winchesters. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Frankly, Buffy did it better. Angels moment of happiness felt like an organic part of the relationship. He was happy because he and Buffy were finally intimate. Castiel's moment of happiness was merely a forced monologue in an episode barely about them until the final scene. Angel's happiness was expressed in action; Castiel's merely in words.
I think it’s like cas started off very rigid and emotionless, then fell for a human, learning so much abt them and ended up feeling happiness and almost crying for dean. Cas’ character arc??? (Idk what to call it) is so cool and kinda deep. I worded that weird but it makes sense in my head.
Shoshannah Stern, who plays Eileen, is actually both the co-star and co-creator of a show called "This Close" about two deaf best friends (I think it aired on Sundance), and according to IMDb, she has also recently been in a couple of episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" and it looks like she has also been acting in a film that's currently in post production, so she has been a bit on the busy side lately. Still, I REALLY hope that Sam and Dean can convince Chuck to bring everyone back and we'll see her again before the end. Because seriously, SOMEONE other than Chuck needs to get a happy ending when this show ends.
Since the end of the episode till this very moment Im crying every time I think about Cas. I don't know how to deal with this. I don't know how I am supposed to recover from that. I'm literally going through a depression bc of Cas' death. This is how important Cas is for me. I will always love him and he will always be a big part of my life. I couldn't even be happy for Cas' love confession and Destiel. I miss Cas 💙

I actually love your reactions primarily because we generally enjoy very different things about the show, but I am more or less in complete agreement with you with regard to Cas and his death. I think the writers did about as good a job as possible at pleasing both camps’ interpretations of Dean and Cas’ relationship. It wasn’t screamed in your face, but it wasn’t unnoticeably subtle or baitey, either. This may have been the best way they’ve handled anything in this entire season, honestly. Looking forward to the final two.

I've literally watched that last scene a dozen times and cried every single time. It was so powerful that his one moment of true happiness was finally telling Dean his unfiltered truth and his love. Castiel's expression at the end was like relief and peace with his end. It was beautiful. I really hope that Dean addresses it even within himself, instead of blowing it off as bro love.
You know I’m not usually one to admit when I cry but in this episode I cried a lot and I felt like a part of me was broken after this episode. Also that scene with dean and cas my god if you didn’t feel that emotion idk what to think.

season 15 has been a rough season for me to get through but I was shocked at how much I was content with Castiels exit I would love a shock appearance in the finale because he is so important but i am content if this is his last episode these last couple of episodes have got me thinking this show is SPN again
There were a few scenes that remained me of Infinity war. Donas death = Spidermans death Death reading gods book = Dr. Strange looking into the future. She knew dean would kill her so she did something to Jack to make sure god would die. Notice when jack kills the flower his eyes didn't glow Orange as usual. I think death transferred her powers to jack right before she got nicked by dean because she already saw it in God's book and that would have something to do with killing god later.
I personally believe that dean and cas relationship goes a lot deeper than just purely romantic, or romantic at all. They have such a strong unique bond that I don’t really think you can quantify or explain it. With that I love how they wrote his speech, cause all the different stans could interpret that to their beliefs and everyone can be happy with that
I believe that's how the writers wanted, so the hardcore destiel fans are satisfied and the rest of us knowing that it is simply a unique connection that they have, much like Dean and Amara.

Kind of fitting that Supernatural gave you hope and solace just by telling stories on TV and now you are doing the same for a lot of people just by making videos on the Internet. For the first time it feels like this show is really ending and that its time for it to end. No more denial or anger or bargaining or depression will keep it at bay. Now there's only acceptance and an understanding that the changes it wrought in us will remain.
I am honestly so emotionally shaken from this too. Cas is the character that I have related to the most, out of any character in any form of literature or media. He makes me feel better, and even good, about being myself. I just bought a bee necklace to wear for him. I also am a Destiel fan and I'm doubly shaken. I think Dean was completely lost for words and shocked and overwhelmed, and that's why he didn't say anything, but his sobbing afterwards and his eyes during the scene tell me more than a clumsy attempt at verbal communication (as you also said, he's not good with words) Since my meta-analysis of all of Season 15 points to a textual death-of-the-author combined with the CW writers explicitly passing the torch to the fans, I firmly believe that the CW writers consider our own interpretations and fan works as valid and true and sanctioned canon as the canon they themselves wrote for the series (can elaborate on this if anyone wants), so we can continue the canon to rescue Cas
Hmm, initially I was content with this being the ending of Cas...But now, thinking about Rowena's death. Her dying and becoming Queen of Hell. Bobby and Rowena, and Kelly, all dead and the boys meet again. Jimmy with Amelia, we know they're dead and happy. Pamela, Ash, Mary, and John, too. Basically, Cas deserves better. With that in mind, I'm optimistic. I believe Cas will be seen again, because death is not the end in Supernatural.

I really thought that Castiel's true happiness would be an epic scene where he gets his powers back and that his wings would be healed. He has been almost human for almost 5 seasons. But Misha did a really good job delivering it. I just really don't understand where they're gonna go from this.

Dean was just in shock that he watched his best friend being taken by the empty and to hear his dying love confession as he didn't expect him to love him romantically with how he views himself. But I hope they address it from Dean's perspective in the next episode by having him pray to Cas and to say if his feelings are reciprocated.

I knew this episode was gonna be a tearjerker already, but then I saw that Richard was the director and I'm like "Ah, shit" This man also directed "Stuck in the Middle (With You)" which is another episode in which Cas not only is freaking about to die, but says "I love you"

Guys remember we never saw Cas die but I believe he isn’t in the credits for the final two episode but it be cool we they were just pulling our leg and he comes back and by the way the series finale airs November 19 in a two part episodes.

For people saying Dean didn't react, look at 12:22 , you can see how shiny his eyes are. He's In shock people! Cas just sprang an "I love you" and a "Goodbye" on him in the span of 3 minutes! Dean Winchester does not exactly have a healthy relationship with his feelings. He's in shock. Look at the way his eyes are moving as the scene progresses, the muscles in his face clenching, beautifully subtle work from Jensen!
I wants to have a scene where Dean tells Sam and Jack!! Even if its going to be so f sad, I need to see how they all are reaction about Cas' death. I kind of wish the handprint had been on Dean's skin again. Dean in shock raising his sleeve, seeing the mark was there, and then dropping his head in his hands like at the end. A sign that Castiel left his mark. That he'll always be with him. 😭😭😭

Misha is such a great actor he made me want to cry.But I still hope Castiel come back as this is supernatural and Castiel is my favorite character, I just love him so much and am just hoping he comes back .I just hate he died but at the same time am glad that if this is castiels finality then I’m glad castiel was happy with his ending and that Misha is also happy with the ending.
I thought of you when Cas said I love you. People freaked and posted Destiel is now Canon. My first thought was “Alley is gonna freak!” There are lots of interpretations from Cas saying he loved his best friend but it is obvious to me, of course this is my interpretation and my opinion, that the thing he knows he can’t have is the same love he has for Dean. He realizes he doesn’t have to have that love returned but just to be and say it to him. The second he says he loves Dean is his moment of pure happiness. So the moment isn’t about getting Dean to say it back. Technically the scene isn’t even about Dean. It’s about Cas. About his journey from handprint to handprint. From his ever popular “hello Dean” to the final “goodbye Dean”. To me Dean’s reaction is pure “Dean”. Shock and confusion. Within a matter of seconds he is hit with guilt for getting Cas trapped and possibly killed right in front of him by Billie, to Cas’s confession about the deal and its consequences, to hearing someone basically validate his entire existence and show him that his selflessness and bravery have not gone unnoticed and he isn’t the cold blooded killer he thinks he is, to Cas admitting he has loved him since the moment he first saw him to finally seeing that admission cause the empty to reap him and poof....he’s gone. You see it hit him right after Cas disappears. Like a gut punch all the air is forced out of him and then he gasps and the look in his face is like “what just happened...he is gone...really gone...wtf?” That was a great exit. He had one of the best entrances in tv history and in my opinion also one of the best exits. I’m sure if someone could have asked Cas how he would die if he had to choose it would be to sacrifice himself to save Dean, Sam or Jack but mostly Dean. Misha’s exit was breathtakingly heartbreaking! Perfection.
Half canon. Misha played it that way but Jensen has always said Dean is completely straight so half canon. I don’t particularly ship Destiel but the writers would be crazy not to use the unusual chemistry between J and M.

I am equally sad and happy. I agree that Cas got a good ending, but it’s so damn bittersweet. He‘s also my comfort character and I just think he deserves to be happy. I agree with everyone saying that this isn’t gonna be cas’ last scene, even without all the other factors suggesting misha was on set for the final.
His story just feels unresolved, especially with the whole Dean didn’t say anything plot point. It just doesn’t feel like a complete ending to me.
I don’t think we’ll see him next episode but definitely in the 2 hour finale.

Alley, I was so worried about you reacting to this episode. I knew you would be devastated knowing how much you love Destiel, and Cas. But Cas finally said it, he said OUT LOUD that he loves Dean. That Dean changed him and made him a better Angel. I feel like I was brilliant acting on the part of Jensen, a spectacular farewell monologue by Misha, and Richard Speight Jr directed it beautifully. If you didn't shed a at least one tear during that scene, you're not human. Can't wait to watch the last two episodes. And double dipping into the comments, just to say, Dean lost Cas (which WAS HUGE and left Dean crying in the end) BUT, Sam had to stand there and watch EVERYBODY ELSE die. Eileen, of course, upset him. But then Sam had to see Charlie, and Bobby, and EVEN DONNA, (not to mention all the random hunters in the silo) just disappear before his very eyes. Very sad, very traumatic episode for the Winchesters. 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Frankly, Buffy did it better. Angels moment of happiness felt like an organic part of the relationship. He was happy because he and Buffy were finally intimate. Castiel's moment of happiness was merely a forced monologue in an episode barely about them until the final scene. Angel's happiness was expressed in action; Castiel's merely in words.
I think it’s like cas started off very rigid and emotionless, then fell for a human, learning so much abt them and ended up feeling happiness and almost crying for dean. Cas’ character arc??? (Idk what to call it) is so cool and kinda deep. I worded that weird but it makes sense in my head.

Shoshannah Stern, who plays Eileen, is actually both the co-star and co-creator of a show called "This Close" about two deaf best friends (I think it aired on Sundance), and according to IMDb, she has also recently been in a couple of episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" and it looks like she has also been acting in a film that's currently in post production, so she has been a bit on the busy side lately. Still, I REALLY hope that Sam and Dean can convince Chuck to bring everyone back and we'll see her again before the end. Because seriously, SOMEONE other than Chuck needs to get a happy ending when this show ends.

I actually love your reactions primarily because we generally enjoy very different things about the show, but I am more or less in complete agreement with you with regard to Cas and his death. I think the writers did about as good a job as possible at pleasing both camps’ interpretations of Dean and Cas’ relationship. It wasn’t screamed in your face, but it wasn’t unnoticeably subtle or baitey, either. This may have been the best way they’ve handled anything in this entire season, honestly. Looking forward to the final two.

I've literally watched that last scene a dozen times and cried every single time. It was so powerful that his one moment of true happiness was finally telling Dean his unfiltered truth and his love. Castiel's expression at the end was like relief and peace with his end. It was beautiful. I really hope that Dean addresses it even within himself, instead of blowing it off as bro love.

There were a few scenes that remained me of Infinity war.
Donas death = Spidermans death
Death reading gods book = Dr. Strange looking into the future. She knew dean would kill her so she did something to Jack to make sure god would die. Notice when jack kills the flower his eyes didn't glow Orange as usual. I think death transferred her powers to jack right before she got nicked by dean because she already saw it in God's book and that would have something to do with killing god later.
I personally believe that dean and cas relationship goes a lot deeper than just purely romantic, or romantic at all. They have such a strong unique bond that I don’t really think you can quantify or explain it. With that I love how they wrote his speech, cause all the different stans could interpret that to their beliefs and everyone can be happy with that
I believe that's how the writers wanted, so the hardcore destiel fans are satisfied and the rest of us knowing that it is simply a unique connection that they have, much like Dean and Amara.

2. HOLY FING SHIZZZZ!!!! That was the purest thing ever!!! And Misha did the monologue so beautifully! I felt it and honestly I don't usually feel these acted out love/romance scenes.

I am honestly so emotionally shaken from this too. Cas is the character that I have related to the most, out of any character in any form of literature or media. He makes me feel better, and even good, about being myself. I just bought a bee necklace to wear for him.
I also am a Destiel fan and I'm doubly shaken. I think Dean was completely lost for words and shocked and overwhelmed, and that's why he didn't say anything, but his sobbing afterwards and his eyes during the scene tell me more than a clumsy attempt at verbal communication (as you also said, he's not good with words)
Since my meta-analysis of all of Season 15 points to a textual death-of-the-author combined with the CW writers explicitly passing the torch to the fans, I firmly believe that the CW writers consider our own interpretations and fan works as valid and true and sanctioned canon as the canon they themselves wrote for the series (can elaborate on this if anyone wants), so we can continue the canon to rescue Cas

Hmm, initially I was content with this being the ending of Cas...But now, thinking about Rowena's death. Her dying and becoming Queen of Hell. Bobby and Rowena, and Kelly, all dead and the boys meet again. Jimmy with Amelia, we know they're dead and happy. Pamela, Ash, Mary, and John, too. Basically, Cas deserves better. With that in mind, I'm optimistic. I believe Cas will be seen again, because death is not the end in Supernatural.

Dean was just in shock that he watched his best friend being taken by the empty and to hear his dying love confession as he didn't expect him to love him romantically with how he views himself.
But I hope they address it from Dean's perspective in the next episode by having him pray to Cas and to say if his feelings are reciprocated.

I wants to have a scene where Dean tells Sam and Jack!! Even if its going to be so f sad, I need to see how they all are reaction about Cas' death. Sam and Jack didnt even get a goodbye... 😭 Thats the worst. But the best about Cas' last scene is that he was happy. I dont think we couldve get an better ending for Cas than that..
And I know we are going to see him again in the next episode. I dont know how but we will..

I kind of wish the handprint had been on Dean's skin again. Dean in shock raising his sleeve, seeing the mark was there, and then dropping his head in his hands like at the end. A sign that Castiel left his mark. That he'll always be with him. 😭😭😭

Yeah personally im not really a ship person of destiel, I think of it as a brotherly love (lol don't hate, its my opinion) but that moment was so God damn heart breaking but done so well❤💔
I’m the same way. I don’t mind Destiel shipping but I, as a fan, don’t see it. But this is was so well done!
Misha is such a great actor he made me want to cry.But I still hope Castiel come back as this is supernatural and Castiel is my favorite character, I just love him so much and am just hoping he comes back .I just hate he died but at the same time am glad that if this is castiels finality then I’m glad castiel was happy with his ending and that Misha is also happy with the ending.

I thought of you when Cas said I love you. People freaked and posted Destiel is now Canon. My first thought was “Alley is gonna freak!” There are lots of interpretations from Cas saying he loved his best friend but it is obvious to me, of course this is my interpretation and my opinion, that the thing he knows he can’t have is the same love he has for Dean. He realizes he doesn’t have to have that love returned but just to be and say it to him. The second he says he loves Dean is his moment of pure happiness. So the moment isn’t about getting Dean to say it back. Technically the scene isn’t even about Dean. It’s about Cas. About his journey from handprint to handprint. From his ever popular “hello Dean” to the final “goodbye Dean”. To me Dean’s reaction is pure “Dean”. Shock and confusion. Within a matter of seconds he is hit with guilt for getting Cas trapped and possibly killed right in front of him by Billie, to Cas’s confession about the deal and its consequences, to hearing someone basically validate his entire existence and show him that his selflessness and bravery have not gone unnoticed and he isn’t the cold blooded killer he thinks he is, to Cas admitting he has loved him since the moment he first saw him to finally seeing that admission cause the empty to reap him and poof....he’s gone. You see it hit him right after Cas disappears. Like a gut punch all the air is forced out of him and then he gasps and the look in his face is like “what just happened...he is gone...really gone...wtf?” That was a great exit. He had one of the best entrances in tv history and in my opinion also one of the best exits. I’m sure if someone could have asked Cas how he would die if he had to choose it would be to sacrifice himself to save Dean, Sam or Jack but mostly Dean. Misha’s exit was breathtakingly heartbreaking! Perfection.

Half canon. Misha played it that way but Jensen has always said Dean is completely straight so half canon. I don’t particularly ship Destiel but the writers would be crazy not to use the unusual chemistry between J and M.
