1990 to 1994 was the best time for Sheffield football. both teams had great players and probably should’ve done more. Sheffield United had a couple of stars themselves.
David Hirst the English answer to Jean Pierre Papin. One of the best players I’ve ever seen. Alex Ferguson also thought that after making a record bid for him.
Manchester United can think Sheffield Wednesday for Eric Cantona, after Wednesday rejected David Hirst, they signed Cantona, and it was Sheffield Wednesday that brought Cantona to England on a trial.
I do think, if Alex Ferguson did sign David Hirst, he would’ve got the same out of him though. Alex Ferguson rarely made a bad signing. Considering David Hirst was better than players like Dwight York and Teddy Sheringham at his best.
