Thank you for doing this. What I had read was that Jeremy Irons was going very hard and full-throated in recording the song and ended up straining his voice to the point where he couldn't continue. And I read that on the internet, so you know it's true, right??? I think George Sanders had a similar vibe to Irons when playing a villain, appearing suave and sophisticated, and lulling you into trusting him until he suddenly struck.
My Broadway musical obsession began as a child in the 60's listening to my parents' original cast albums of My Fair Lady, Camelot, and The Music Man, among many others. I think that you can absolutely have someone who is not a fantastic or trained singer carry a musical role as Rex Harrison, Robert Preston and Richard Burton did. But having Scar portrayed by Geoff, who's able to bring both technically brilliant singing AND emotion and character to his voice, on top of Layne's brilliant arrangement, actually nudges VoicePlay's version over the original in my opinion.
In response to a question of whether he would prefer to play a Disney villain or a Disney hero, Geoff actually responded that what he'd actually prefer to be the quirky, funny sidekick, LOL!

Fantastic version by Voiceplay. Also testament to a great arrangement by Layne. Nice make-up! 🌹🕊

Layne arranged this as well as their version of Hellfire. The group was evenly divided about whether the spoken part should be included. He talked to the high tier patrons and they were also evenly divided. So he decided to include it but make it a rap - compromise.
One of the gazillion things I love about Voiceplay is the attention to detail. One reactor didn't remember the throat slice movement from the original. He had to go back and rewatch the cartoon to make sure that it was there.
Mykal will be back in their next release. Since Be Prepared was so Geoff-centric, they needed something to showcase his beautiful tenor voice.

Jeremy irons messed his voice up when he sang the line "you won't get a sniff without me" and hurt his vocal chords so Jim had to finish

I highly recommend Voctave´s Disney Heroes & Villains Medley where Kurt, the baritone, does his take on Be Prepared with an interesting hyena bit by his fellow singers.

The only thing missing from Caesar´s commitment to Ed is having his tongue hang out. He could have easily done it. Just let the others sing during it.
